Good morning everyone!

I hope you're all still with us, to come and add your final weigh-in to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Or, on the Weight Tracker

It seems like there have been some really good losses on this Bootcamp, and so Flowers for you all!

Hope you all have a very good week

Good evening
I'm back after a scheduled 5 day break!
Well, there were some unscheduled Brazil nuts covered in dark choc today, but nothing too awful. Hope everyone has an easy time of climbing back on the WOE wagon.

Newbiecrafter · 29/12/2014 23:50

Thanks BIWI, looking at that, I think I need to drink 3ltrs.

BIWI · 29/12/2014 23:51

You may feel that 3 litres is a lot of water - but if you space it out during the day, it's totally doable!

Romeyroo · 30/12/2014 08:06

I find it easier to drink sparkling water and if I don't drink enough my head aches the next day (which is happening nowSad) which reminds me!

Romeyroo · 30/12/2014 09:47

I also wanted to say I had more carbs than usual yesterday; it was an emotionally difficult few days and I was out and about with nothing to hand. I chose the lowest carb options I could but I had a massive emotional crash last night. Am wondering if carbs could have contributed? Could the emotions be more out of control because of wonky blood sugar? Is that overthinking what was just a difficult day?

I am drinking lots of water and making myself an omelette with salami and spinach just now. I know salami is processed but I am trying to get the fat count up. Bullet proof coffee to follow at some point.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 30/12/2014 10:00

As much as 3ltrs seems a lot. as your body adjusts it gets easier. I am also on 3ltrs but can regularly drink up to 4 and sometimes more depending on what i am doing and how much coffee needs diluting out of my system

My appetite is all over the place. Not eating enough meals and picking at chocolate. I seem to have forgotten about vegetables too. Not sure what exactly has happened but there has been a massive fibro flare up and a weird sleep pattern. Could these be linked or is it likely to just be the bloody sugar addiction?

BIWI · 30/12/2014 10:03

I think, Bitchy, that could well be the carbs/sugar Sad

Romey - I don't really know, but I suspect that you might just be overthinking that. Sorry you had a bad day. Flowers

Romeyroo · 30/12/2014 10:15

Thank you Biwi, you are right, I probably don't need to add beating myself up about carbs to the awfulness that was yesterday. Today is a new day, and it is nearly a new year (thank goodness for that!)

Bitchy, I think it might be the sugar; one of the things I expected when I started this way of eating was that I would be hungry and unable to sleep. In fact, the opposite happened and my sleep improved (and my eczema but that is from cutting wheat and most dairy). When I was really sugar addicted over the summer I ate practically no fruit and veg, I think your body gets wired to glucose. I think this can be a hard time of year anyway, so possibly also underlying stress?

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 30/12/2014 12:04

I know the not sleeping was connected to someone else being in control of the contents of my coffee cup Hmm But the fibro flare up resulted in me sleeping 2 days straight (almost literally but not quite think 4hr day in 2hr bits)

Ah ok. I have had disordered eating and used to survive on one or two chocolate bars a day Blush Right more effort to cut the chocolate then. Not difficult fix in theory. Best test the practise Wink

Stress? Been less stressful in some respects but more in others. So that is a possible factor.

Thank you as always for the clear and insightful advice. Flowers

miffy49 · 30/12/2014 12:08

Bitchy I would put it down to a combo of sugar and your fibro. I haven't been as bad this year as I have steered a fairly middle course through the chocolate but I did still have a bit of a fibro crash. Even when the fibro seems to be under control we tend to get through these occasions on the adrenaline. As you probably know, our neurotransmitter levels are out of balance as it is so, when you need to push through times that make extra demands on you, the consistently high adrenaline level keeps you going. As you come out of the other side it drops off fast and you get an energy crash and a fibro flare. Once you get back to fat burning and off the sugar you should pick up pretty fast. Fibro brains seem to work best on ketones.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 30/12/2014 12:16

Thanks Miffy I took some temp work just prior to Christmas. It is a job i love and missed but I had to drop the job as it was triggering a flare. I am still trying to get to grips with what is the level of energy expenditure I can do without triggering. It was a massive learning curve. I completely agree with you about the ketones and fibro. Prior to christmas I managed to get off all pain meds. Unfortunately when I flared up I had to reintroduce the pain meds.

BestIsWest · 30/12/2014 18:56

Crikey, I weighed yesterday and 6lbs on in a week. I did eat carbs but didn't think I'd been that bad! Managed to drop 1lb overnight.

CharlieSierra · 30/12/2014 20:23

I am scared to weigh myself! 10 weeks of unwavering determination, followed by a carbfest of gargantuan proportions. Not only am I pissed off with myself for sabotaging my hard work, but I feel like crap, have IBS and a psoriasis and arthritis flare. WHY!!??

Anyway, back on the wagon today - avocado for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch, chicken breast and veg for dinner. [limps off to polish halo]

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 30/12/2014 21:50

Charlie -could your flares be carb related? if so then getting back on the wagon might help to calm them and you know the value of avoiding a carb fest. Hope you feel better soon.

CharlieSierra · 30/12/2014 22:42

Definitely related Bitchy I have no idea why I did it to myself, but one good thing is its proof that giving up grains, sugar etc. is the right thing for me. I was honestly relieved to go back to eating well today, hope my tum settles down quickly, the rest will take a while and it just wasn't worth it.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 30/12/2014 23:09

Ds has just had to discover this about dairy. :( he is gutted but handling it well. Poor kid. He was allergic, grew out of it but has now developed and intollerance. Sometimes life seems unfair, it is very hard for 9yos

WIll keep my fingers cross it clears quickly. Charlie

BIWI · 31/12/2014 09:09

Don't panic about the apparent huge weight gain. What's happened is that by eating lots of carbs, you've re-filled your glycogen stores, which can account for up to 7lbs.

Once you're back on the wagon, it should disappear pretty quickly.

OP posts:
SayraT · 31/12/2014 10:52

I hope so!

Weighed myself yesterday and I am just blocking it out of my mind!

yongnian · 31/12/2014 11:39

Checking in. Not even seen the wagon for 9 days, never mind been on it. Now back from lovely but feeder MILS, two more meals at someone else's tomorrow to negotiate and apart from that am now trying to haul my carbytwat-ass firmly back on board...oh well, I've had ample chance to observe why this WOE works for me and why carbytwat ness doesn't.
Not weighing til I've got myself in hand a bit.
Am very reassured to read about the 7lb glycogen store refill bit, especially to read it before weighing!

SayraT · 31/12/2014 12:44

yong we can look for the wagon together! X

miffy49 · 31/12/2014 14:26

Yup, glycogen holds four times its own weight in water so once you find that wagon you need to make sure it has a loo as you will think you've joined the All England Tiddling Team! As Biwi has said, that can mean anything from 5 to 7lbs gain if you refill your stores by eating carbs. You can't go by what you weigh at the moment. Give it 3 or 4 days from going back to sensible eating before you hit the scales.

CharlieSierra · 31/12/2014 15:43

Glad it's not just me, I was planning to do what Miffy says and avoid the scales until the peeing starts, then I'll know if there is any real damage.

BestIsWest · 31/12/2014 16:35

Wow, I'm so relieved to hear about the glycogen. I'm so glad to be back on this WOE. I had a carby headache for a day or two but that's passed now.

rybka13 · 31/12/2014 17:13

Good evening bootcampers. I am back from internet break, survived Xmas surprisingly well. Same weight like last one recorded. On Xmas Eve I was silly enough to eat one tiny bit of something made of wheat and then suffered through the night and next day. So it was easy to stay LC no grains after that.
A lot of interesting things in this thread I missed. Time to start reading!

rybka13 · 31/12/2014 18:24

Pisses thanks for the link! Despite of accomplishing university level of biochemistry (ok, nearly 20 years ago) I would now stupidly say that fat is turning into energy...I can imagine my profesor having nervous breakdown after that answer then. Carbon dioxide and water and energy...Where is my brain? That brings me to new excuse for avoiding diet and weight lose. I am not dieting because I am enviromentaly conscious and reducing my carbon footprint...How to bent the science!
