Next Low Carb Bootcamp starts 21/7 and is only a 5 week one - sign up here!

Next Bootcamp is going to be a slightly different one from the norm.

It's only going to be for 5 weeks, but it's going to be stricter than the others.

The plan is that the first week will be Ubercamp, which is a no dairy version of Bootcamp; weeks 2 and 3 will be Bootcamp and then weeks 4 and 5 will be Bootcamp Light.

If you just want to Bootcamp (rather than Ubercamp) you're still more than welcome to join!

Anyway, if you want to join in, sign up here.

Perfect timing for me, not doing übercamp though as a slug of double cream is all that gets me through the first weeks!

Has anyone tried MCT oil? I'm wondering about using it for Bulletproof coffee but it's quite expensive.

Report
Plonkysaurus · 18/07/2014 11:48

Stunt do you mean coconut oil? It's the dog's, I regularly have bulletproof coffees and they're delicious.

OK all excited (if that's the right word) about starting on Monday, but do I need to do anything to prepare and how do I record my weight.

It's this stuff Plonky. I usually buy the solid Groovy coconut oil from Tesco but it's difficult to chisel it out in the Winter!

Report
Plonkysaurus · 18/07/2014 13:39

Wow that's pricey Stunt. I'd stick with the Lucy Bee myself. I know what you mean about needing a chisel in winter though, but at least it's only £6 for 500g!

Buffy ummm....Nescafe Gold Blend Grin or, if I'm feeling flash I might make a cafetiere with some of Aldi's finest.

GirlsonFilm - we will have a new Spreadsheet for you to enter your weight, and there will also be an individual Weight Tracker that MNHQ design for us.

Re preparation, make sure that you have done a good shop and got your fridge/cupboards full of low carb options. Get rid of anything that might be too much of a temptation for you!

It's also a really good idea to read up on low carbing, so you know what to expect Have a read/look at some of some of the resources on the spreadsheet

Egg fast fell on it's arse. Too warm to survive on eggs, cheese and butter!

Looking forward to Monday but have a fridge full of cheese and Greek yogurt that needs to be used by then!

Also have a box of Atkins bars that have just been bought, I guess these have to be used by then too?

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 16:47

Schro I'm torn between the egg fast or the egg and meat fast. Do they really work though?

Report
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 18/07/2014 17:32

From what I've heard, the egg one definitely does. Can't say from experience though. Tempted to try it again from Monday since I wont be able to have dairy anyway. Happy to do one of the fasts with you, if you fancy it?

Report
StuntNun · 18/07/2014 17:47

I'm planning to give the egg fast a go for three days from Monday. There's a Facebook support group that I've joined. Then Thursday I'm planning two egg fast meals plus a 'proper' low carb meal (probably steak and mushrooms) for lunch. Then Friday to Sunday will be ubercamp and back on to Bootcamp on Monday. I'm only five pounds from my new target weight of nine stone so I think I need a more drastic approach to lose these last few pounds.

Report
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 18/07/2014 18:24

Since we will be dairy free anyway, I will do as you are.

My next target is 10st (final is 8), that's 11lbs away. Fingers crossed!

This really is a great way of eating. My target weight when I started low carbing in June 2013 was 9st 6lb and I didn't really think I would reach it; that was my long-term goal. I got there in November and my next goal was to maintain. After six months of maintaining apart from a 5lb hiccup at Christmas I decided to try and get a bit lower to do something about my wobbly tum! My summer holidays have convinced me that this is a way of eating for life so my current plan is to shift those last few pounds over the summer then continue to maintain and not let Christmas throw a spanner in the works this time round.

I can't wait to get started again Schro Grin I'm doing Bootcamp Light at the moment but DH is away for two weeks from Monday so I'll only have myself to cook for. Oh and the three kids but they tend to eat a bit differently from DH and I anyway so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll nip down to the shop tomorrow and see if they have any proper free range eggs. They sell free range eggs from local farmers and they are much tastier than the standard free range eggs from the supermarket, with lovely big yolks. I have iodised salt with extra iodine and potassium in but I'm wondering whether to get some magnesium as well.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 18/07/2014 19:40

Have you tried duck eggs? I started eating them recently when I started low carbing and they are lovely.

Congrats on getting to your initial maintainance weight! My first goal was under 11st as I was starting to near 12 and I am short. Hoping if I start being stricter that I can get rid of the rest! I've had 2 off days (parties) and a period that each put 5lbs back on each time. Came back off quickly but very annoying!

I'm not keen on duck eggs - too gamey! I'm very happy with my weight. Yes there's still some room for improvement but I can honestly say that BIWI's Bootcamp changed my life. It's not just the weight loss either, there are all the other health benefits - the obvious ones now like pain-free periods, and the hidden ones such as reducing my diabetes risk. If anyone's new to low carbing then I heartily recommend it. Give it a go for five weeks, you'll have lots of support here, and see the difference for yourself.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 18/07/2014 21:17

Definitely agree with the periods! I was caught short this month as I wasn't expecting it, normally I am in real pain for days before. Total revelation.
I love that I am never bloated and I think when you lose weight on LC, the weight comes off differently than on a usual diet, it does on me anyway. I think I sleep better too, and my IBS has vanished, after years of struggling with it.

Would recommend to anyone.

And also, I was the highest bread fan ever, I don't even want it anymore.

Stunt, Schro - hi! I'm up for an egg fast too! Have been LC-ing for 2 weeks and this last week cut out most dairy in prep for monday. I have lost 2.7kgs, so only another 20kgs to go! Blush Was expecting to have lost more tbh, as I have been superbly good. Now my appetite is under control, I feel i could do eggs for a few days. Can I still add soya milk to my one coffee a day though? I'll skip the cheese...!

Having some friends round for dinner tomorrow, I am preparing all low-carb things that I can eat too (apart from the roast potatoes) and have even made a low-carb almond chocolate torte for dessert. I won't tell them it's low carb, want to see their reactions. Grin
