Morning campers!

You all know the drill by now - here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness or the Weight Tracker

I hope that the scales are kind to you this morning!

And as we enter the last two weeks, let's see if we can be super vigilant and keep an eye on those pesky carbs.

Supermum my DS1 has induction starting next week for secondary school and I will be in the same state.

Miffy your doc sounds more open minded than mine - I'm on statins now to lower my cholesterol, I was too scared to refuse.

Thanks Stunt, I have found Ripped in 30 week 1 and 2 on youtube so I'll have a go now.

I think I've drunk plenty of water today but I haven't measured, every time I went to refill my glass I downed a full glass first.

If anyone see's me straying at all on these last couple of weeks please give me a firm talking to, I need to do this.

The most amazing thing has happened! A local deli has opened up called Naked and it's serving paleo only Grin Grin Grin the future has landed in Newcastle! I went in yesterday, and they had two types of courgetti salad thingys. It was £7 for a salad, which dp balked at when I told him, but it was plenty for both of us. I gave him the quinua bits and we shared a piece of salmon and some lovely low carb veggies. Best of all they do a take away BPC. I did an actual happy dance in the shop!

We are at the lake for the 4th July weekend, and it need to be careful about food, as it would be so easy to go wrong.

I am posting food to keep me on track - hope that is ok.

B: eggs and bacon (no veg, as we had not been to the shop yet)
L: grilled chicken Caesar salad at the cafe, removed all the croutons
D:snacks, as we are waiting for friends to arrive and we do not know when they will get here, but will involve salami, salad, cucumber, dips, etc... So should be ok. I have discovered a fab no carb mayonnaise - OMG, it is so good!
Snack: some pork rinds - yummy!

Done about 2ltrs of water so far, and one tea with cream.

Trash - I want to go to that deli! Sounds fantastic!

Tomorrow is going to be a strange day - you are probably aware that they are holding the naming ceremony for the aircraft carriers in Scotland. I was a key part of the team that won the contract just over 9 years ago, and I am so sorry to miss that event - those carriers are like my babies, and I am so proud of the team which has worked to deliver them. I wish I could be there!

Hi guys I'm still around, keeping on keeping on.

Pleaseed to report that after a few weeks of up and down and my carbiness last weekend I have finally hit the 2st off mark. Ive still got at least another couple of stone to go but don't mind if its slow as I'm starting to see a nice body shape emerge.

Another hurdle is ive been invited to a chinese restaurant next Friday. What should I be looking for to eat? Miss the rice & noodles I know but I think they'll order lots of plates as we are a group of 15. Any pointers?

Congratulations Pingufan! Its good to see shape again! I don't know about Chinese -are bean sprouts ok? I managed ok in a Tia restaurant a few weeks ago because they had lots of grilled seafood, and the sauces were served separately. What about peking duck but without the pancakes and avoiding the sauces?
I'm eating marrow-etti with bologniese (left over from last night). Its very nice! Even change resistant ds approved although he wanted proper pasta too. Its a bit watery - any ideas how to dry it a little?

Actually I think beansprouts are really high in carbs.

I was thinking of trying to make a pannacotta as most of the ingredients seem lc friendly but is there a substitute for sugar that people would use? The recipe only calls for 25g so not much anyhow over 4 portions but I've never cooked with a sugar substitute before so a bit clueless! !!!! Thanks

Report
pingufan · 04/07/2014 14:01

Yeah I'd read that beansprout were carby (you wouldnt think so) ribs and duck then, lettuce wraps etc I'll do my best

Report
EwanHoozami · 04/07/2014 14:42

Beansprouts are 2.5g. Not much (but check they're not in a sugary or thickened sauce)

Trash Lordy I wish there was a paleo cafe near me! Greggs is about as good as it gets round here.

DH is having a bit of an issue with my LC menus at the moment. He's really supportive, but even after some really substantial meals he's eating four weetabix and two slices of toast at 11pm Shock

Ewan My other half and elder son both do Slimming World which is very carby and low fat. I get round it by cooking fairly low fat with the appropriate carby sides for them and then adding butter, cream, mayo etc to mine along with a bit extra veg. If you cook low carb stuff with a high fat content and then he goes off eating a load of carb he will heap weight on and I'm guessing he would be a tad peeved! Grin

Report
doineedhelp · 04/07/2014 15:51

oh no, did i get it wrong? on the veg carb counter it lists beansprouts as 16g carbs per 100g - anyone know which is the correct figure?
