If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

Yes please! Have done Bootcamp in a previous incarnation and it definitely works for me.

OverlookedConfection · 29/04/2014 20:30

Marks and Spencer do good one person packets of nuts which might fill the gap if you need something to snack on. I like babybels too but they get a bit sweaty in the heat.

Pepperamis etc are also good although in BC we are trying to steer clear of processed food so perhaps not ideal for that. Useful if it avoids eating a packet of biscuits though.

readyforno2 · 29/04/2014 20:32

I'd like to join too.
I'm currently low carbing and have restricted my calories to 1000.
I'm going to a personal trainer twice a week and aerobics twice a week too. I'm three pounds off the three stone mark but seem to have hit a brick wall.
I'm new to all this.. How does it work?

BIWI · 29/04/2014 20:49

readyforno2 - you don't need to worry about counting calories on this WOE - and 1000 is really low! Do you have much to lose?

BIWI · 29/04/2014 20:50

Oh, and if you scroll up to the first couple of posts you'll find the rules!

readyforno2 · 29/04/2014 20:55

I would love to lose another three stone. I'm getting married in November and don't want to look back at photos and wish I'd done more.

readyforno2 · 29/04/2014 20:56

Or lost more I should say.
I'll have a proper read through.
Thanks

BIWI · 29/04/2014 20:57

Have a look at the last Bootcamp spreadsheet

Look at the tabs at the bottom and you'll find the rules, with a bit more information/explanation of them, as well as all kinds of other information about low carbing.

readyforno2 · 29/04/2014 21:05

So is it a weekly weigh in? With measurements etc. too?
Sorry if I'm being stupid

BIWI · 29/04/2014 21:10

Yes, weekly - every Monday, starting next Monday.

Taking measurements is a good idea, although you don't share those.

should sort you out, Maryz

I've emailed MNHQ to ask if they set up a new weight tracker from Monday, so I'll let you know.

address is www . mumsnet.com / bootcamp - without the spaces, obviously!

readyforno2 · 29/04/2014 21:33

I'm the same maryz. I'm such an emotional eater.

CockBollocks · 29/04/2014 22:40

Tonight I had chicken strips and roasted butternut squash on a pile of raw spinach. Feta sprinkled on top and a dressing made of vinegar, olive oil and tarragon.

Twas very lovely Smile

Best. Username. EVER.

Swex · 30/04/2014 01:22

Morning all. I am going to have to gracefully remove myself from the lists. Kelly mom doesn't recommend low carb diets for bf, as it can decrease supply. I shall have to middle through in some other way! Wish me luck...

Thumbwitch · 30/04/2014 01:48

Swex, I've been bf'ing DS2 throughout, and it hasn't caused me any problem; and I know others have done the same. But if you feel you have to bow out, then that's entirely your choice. If you're having supply problems, have you tried fennel tea? I find it very useful. :)

Just joining in here to say hello and will be back on Bootcamp next week.

And to mention that DS2 has decided he really likes my favourite omelette - courgette and mushrooms fried in butter and garlic salt with cheese on top. I was just having one for brunch, and he was eyeing me up and licking his lips, so I let him have some, not expecting him to like it but he was like a little bird with it - opening his mouth for more! I'm going to have to make them with 3 eggs from now on so he can have some of his own, by the look of it Grin

teawithlemon · 30/04/2014 06:15

Morning, will I need to enter my name on the spreadsheet or will names be transferred across after the first weigh in on Monday? Sorry if this has already been answered, in a rush for work!

StuntNun · 30/04/2014 06:32

Swex I low carbed and breastfed for 11 months without any supply issues. As long as you are getting enough calories your supply won't be affected so if you follow the eat when you're hungry rule you will be fine. The adaptions I made for breastfeeding were: start on Bootcamp light; take a supplement such as Pregnacare Breastfeeding; make sure you keep snacks on your bedside table for night feeds for the first week or two.

BIWI · 30/04/2014 06:40

I wonder why 'kelly mom' doesn't recommend it? I can't see why, as long as you're getting your carbs from vegetables and salad, that it isn't a way of eating that would work with breast feeding? After all, it's what our ancestors would have been doing before we became an agricultural/grain-making population!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/04/2014 06:48

Morning :)

Loving that penguin Maryz Grin

pregnantpause · 30/04/2014 07:59

We'll I'm on day three, though on Monday I ate 51g carbs so not proper boot camp (as eating off the allowed list I would have had to eat loads more than I did to get that much carbs- it was parsnips, and a tablespoon of cous cous in a salad i had made in Sunday that did it) and yesterday I properly boot camped. I'm not hungry. Smile I had to eat yesterday evening as I hadn't had the third meal , but I wasn't hungry for it. I'm not hungry now . It's bizarre , greatGrin, but bizarre.
