Morning all!

Hope all who are ailing are swiftly recovered.

And hope all of those who have fallen off the wagon can climb back on with agility and aplomb.

We still have three weeks left, so a chance to get shot of another few of those pesky pounds.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and here is the link to the Weight Tracker

Good luck everyone Flowers

Portion size stuff v interesting. I've not seen MFP.

Hugs for all struggling. I'm not sure how I am. Plodding I think best sums it up!

I need some ideas though. Have lovely Ninja coming over on Friday, she's bringing Woolly Hug stuff, and she doesn't know it yet but I'm going to get her to sew labels on blankets

BUT. WHAT CAN I DO FOR LUNCH?

Ooo shouting there. Soz. Any easy ideas for sommat we can both have? Apart from Wine obvs.

ChesterDrawers · 26/02/2014 19:13

Can I have a self-indulgent whine to keep me away from self-indulgent wine?

DH works away a lot. DS really plays me up when he is away. Tonight, after a huge tantrum, we had a chat and he says the reason is he likes daddy more than me.

I am in tears at this. I know he is only three and I know he'll no doubt say much worse to me over the years but this has really upset me.

Am currently comfort eating garlic prawns and avocado, when all I really want is wine or gin Sad

Sorry, I am being pathetic - whine over.

StoneToGo · 26/02/2014 19:20

Chester Flowers - so long as it is a self indulgent whine and not self indulgent wine ...

Don't worry, children are in the moment and say what they think to be true in that tiny moment - right then it was you trying to get him to do something I suspect, not 'Daddy', and it means nothing. They also do it to play parents off against each other.

Day 1 of low carbing and I feel pants. That's good, yes?

DurhamDurham · 26/02/2014 19:24

Aww Chester the only reason he has said that is because his daddy is away, if you were the one who was away he would say the same about you. You are there day in and day out, his daddy being home might be seen as being an exciting treat.

But you are right you will hear worse, mine are 16 and 20, you'd be shocked at some of the things I'd heard. Teen girls can be the most hurtful , cutting people on the planet Smile

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 26/02/2014 19:33

Chester oh no, that's not pathetic, I'd be crushed! My eldest is three. Is he perhaps playing you up a bit more by saying that he likes Daddy best? Also, when my DH is away a lot, Daddy starts to become very very special, not like boring old Mummy who tells them off. When Daddy is around more he becomes just as boring. Grin Thanks for the cauli help by the way, I'll give that a go!

Crabby right, I will use up my much dreaded anchovies, thanks for that! This diet is great for trying new things that were on my never ever list - avocado, blue cheese and now anchovies. I had some roasted garlic umami paste from Sainsbury's that made Kale soup the most talked about lunch at work!

MrsHugh those look lovely and a good one for Easter! I'd loose the maple syrup though and I would use splenda if it was an occasional thing

Pistey Prawn mayo salad with coriander mayo rather than thousand island? Pork belly strips in the oven with salad?

Re: portion size - I'm sure it makes a difference if you're quite near your goal or even a healthy BMI range. I'm not sure if I'm not drinking enough at the moment or if I'm eating too much but something is knocking me off. I really don't need three full meals a day.

SMS:
Awful day at work today, we're really busy and the teamwork that keeps the place together is falling apart. Our computer system is unstable and we're changing to a completely new one tomorrow whilst still running at full pelt as usual. I'm very excited because it should make things better, but equally I'm completely knackered and just want to fall in a heap this evening! But I can't fall in a heap because I've had some fabulous cotton flannel arrive and I want to make PJ bottoms before winter is over! Stamps foot. taking on too much Planning to strip wallpaper at the weekend also.

Actually, please please someone slap me. I have a tendency to get bit like this and plan too much, try to do to much and live off nervous energy trying to get it done. I'm sure it's really stupid and knackering, it's just that I want all my tasks done now with instant results. Including dieting!

B: BPC, IPD aubergine and red pepper muffin
L: 2 sausages and leeks in butter.
D: pork belly strips and leeks in butter. Creamy coffee, 2 baby bels and a square of chocolate Blush

trash thinking of you, hope things went a little better today

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 26/02/2014 19:34

Stoneto go I felt worst on day one out of all of them. Hopefully it can only get better!

myprecious its a bit like the 5:2 diet except you only eat 8 hours out of 24 and not the other 16.

I think most people do evening meal to lunch then the 16 hours is over night. If I didn't count the cream in my coffee in the morning then I do 16:8 but not intentionally.

ChesterDrawers · 26/02/2014 22:10

Thanks for the kind words. Feels like everything's a battle at the minute, and I'm sure he blames me for DH being away. It's just so bloody hard sometimes. I just don't know what to do for the best.

Anyway, I will keep on keeping on. You'll all be glad to know that no wine was hurt in the making of this evening.

Hope everyone is ok.....((hands out BrewBrew and ThanksThanksThanks))

B..ff yoghurt

L...chicken with broccoli and aubergine

D....pan fried chicken with chorizo, aubergine and mushrooms SmileSmile

Twas fabulous!

Not enough water though. ShockShock

CrabbySpringyBottom · 26/02/2014 23:05

Hugh those are the names for dandelion in general, not just the root, so don't have too much! Grin You might find the tinctures easier to take than teas. Dandelion is quite bitter (making it good for the digestion, incidentally).

Twit a decent health shop might sell it. Do you have a Neal's Yard Remedies branch nearby? They do loose herbs and tinctures.

Oh Chester he's only saying that because he's missing his dad! That would really upset me too. Flowers

Sarah good luck with the anchovies! Don't run yourself into the ground doing too much, or I'll have to slap you with an anchovy. Wink

Food today
L - mozzarella, boursin, tomatoes and ham
D - cauliflower cheese with bacon (and a small handful of breadcrumbs on top) Blush
Too much dairy and processed meat today really.
2.5L water, 2 teas.

Sammyboy12 · 27/02/2014 04:12

please advise are a multivitamin tablet with iron and a joint cod liver oil and primrose all going to hinder my weight loss do you think ?

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 27/02/2014 05:53

I take them Sammy with no ill effects so far.

ChesterDrawers · 27/02/2014 07:25

Dreadful night with aforementioned DS. Think I've slept for about two hours. Anyway, no point in moaning, not likely to improve anything.

Plan is:

B: eggs, butter
L: something from m&s - CBA sorting anything
D: courgetti spagetti, with HM pesto, bacon and goats cheese

Wish my appetite would piss off. Although I no longer need to snack I dont think I could get by without hunger on less than three meals.

SteeleyeStan · 27/02/2014 08:03

sammy I see no reason why they would.

I'm reading here in the background and willing you all on, but not a lot of time to proper answers. So SMS it is! I'm sure moving house wasn't this complicated back when we were young(er)?!

I started a new course of physiotherapy yesterday, and this morning I feel like I've been run over by a truck or something. Ouwie... I've got instructions for exercises to do three times a day and enforced rest three times a day too. But I'm supposed to be painting and packing.

Foods aren't very inspiring at the moment. Last night's dinner was sausages and salad from a bag with mayo.

Twit - it sounds to me like you really do need to start eating a bit more.

Although another thought might be to try the MFP site? I've never used it, although I'm thinking maybe I should, as I think my portion sizes are definitely too big, and that I need to address this to get my weight going down again.

It could be worth logging all your food to make sure:

  • you're eating enough
  • you are eating in the right proportions - i.e. fat/protein/carbs

Stone - you're experiencing carb flu. Drink plenty of water, keep your fat levels up and make sure that you're getting your electrolytes, by which we mean sodium, magnesium and potassium, all to be found in salt (yes, make sure you're cooking and using it on your food), salmon, avocado, spinach and plain, full fat yoghurt.

OP posts:
SayraT · 27/02/2014 08:42

chester why do you want to eat less? Surely if you are eating three meals a day and no snacks then thats great? You don't want to be hungry.

Got pole class tonight so need to take lunch and dinner to work, just taking a selection of things so today I will be eating:

smoked salmon, avocado, cucumber, broccoli, chicken drumsticks, ff yoghurt, green beans, bit of cheese

Had my usual coffee with cream for breakfast Grin

StuntNun · 27/02/2014 09:16

Sammy I take a multivitamin and cod liver oil (Pregnacare Breastfeeding) with no problems.

BIWI I'm a big fan of MFP now as I'm near goal. Years of being made to clear my plate have made it very difficult for me to tell when I'm full so MFP is helping me to relearn those satiety signals.

I had an epic meal out with friends last night. I just said I had cut out sugar so I wouldn't be having dessert and one of the other girls is diabetic so that wasn't a problem. I had black pudding and bacon salad with vinaigrette for a starter which was a leetle bit naughty but what the hell. Then chicken breast fillet, pork chop, steak on a sizzling platter with fried onions and mushrooms and a side salad. I turned my nose up at the chicken and the onions but scoffed most of the rest. I also had a sneaky Bombay Sapphire and slimline tonic. But it was really nice to have a menu with a few low carb options for a change.

LittleMissDisorganized · 27/02/2014 09:20

Hi all
Woolfey you can get clear plastic things that subtly go at the back of loose rings if that would help you can tell my DH works for Betterware!
Chester you're very sleep deprived, don't food deprive yourself as well!
Hugh thank you for that link, I was thinking stevia instead might be better (maybe not as yummy!)
I am finally feeling a bit better, I am staying up all day regardless of how tired I feel, I might make LC cottage pie this morning for dinner so if feeling terrible no need to panic.

I think rather than lunch and tea I am starting to do 16:8 quite naturally around breakfast and lunch - I have breakfast about 8 and am hungry in the morning and at lunchtime - I don't tend to want much, if any dinner. Which is a bit of a pain because it's DH's main meal and the cooking and sharing of it is starting to be a challenge. Hmmm. Onwards though, tis sunny here and I am not feeling as bad as I was. Positive side...

PseudoBadger · 27/02/2014 09:43

Would appreciate some advice - so at the risk of repeating myself as I've mentioned it plenty before, I'm BFing an almost 5 month old and she's started waking more at night. Therefore I'm feeding more than I was at the beginning of bootcamp. I'm also more tired as not only is she waking but my 3 year old has started waking sometimes before 5
I've been on Light most days (berries and nuts) and have also added one or 2 teaspoons of crunchy peanut butter (no added sugar). Is this ok? It helps me feel less deprived when I'm knackered. I'm also drinking an extra cup or 2 of tea (FF milk).
Many thanks

StuntNun · 27/02/2014 11:06

Pseudo breastfeeding should give you a bit more flexibility on how much carbs you can handle. I did Bootcamp Light most of the time I was bfing and still lost weight. Now DS3 is 15 months he's down to only two feeds a day so I have to be a bit more frugal with the berries, nuts and dark chocolate.

HeirToTheIronThrone · 27/02/2014 12:02

I am feeling super-nauseous today - weird...

I logged yesterday's food in MFP and still sticking to the right proportions which is good to see, though was Shock at the finding that my gorgeous cauli cheese is about 800 calories a pop ON ITS OWN. I know it shouldn't matter but that seems a lot!

PseudoBadger · 27/02/2014 12:09

Thanks StuntNun :)
