Here's The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And The Weight Tracker

By now, if everyone has been following Bootcamp/Bootcamp Light rules properly then we should all be keto-adapted, and should be burning fat. Yippee!!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Trashcan.........so I do roasted broccoli once in a while......I can handle it!! It is some seriously tasty gear GrinGrin

Lovecat · 13/02/2014 22:41

Tried purple sprouting broccoli tonight with the scallops. Never again. Is it me or is it just fibrous tree stumps? Blee.

Good idea re. extra strawbs, prettybird. Regarding chocolate, I'd buy us a box of Thornton's diabetic choc but a) it costs a friffin' fortune b) it's pretty much guaranteed to give us both the shits. Which is the essence of romance.

prettybird · 13/02/2014 22:44

the chocolates come as part of the £20 meal deal Wink

trashcanjunkie · 13/02/2014 22:47

durham it's what they call a gateway vegetable...

CalamityKate · 13/02/2014 22:48

BIWI - yeah point taken. I think it was nearly 3 weeks I STS but I'd have to check the calendar. I think I was weighing too often so it felt like longer than it was Blush

Anyway I apologise for my petulant, impatient outbursts Blush

On the upside even when I thought I'd stopped losing, the fact I love the food and all the encouragement and success stories on this thread kept me going :)

I really feel like I've settled into it now. Whether I fluctuate or not, there's no question - it's working for me. So I'm more relaxed. I'm not planning to cheat, nor do I have any desire to - but at least I know that if I do, it's not the end of the world. I had a small corner of costa pecan pie last week and it was lovely. I really wanted to try it. But a taste was enough.

Now I know for sure it's working I don't spend much time thinking about my next meal. I know I'll find something, and whatever it turns out to be will satisfy me. Even if my meals are somewhat of a mishmash, they're a mishmash of delicious things I really want to eat! My lunch the other day was half a can of corned beef and some garlic prawns FGS Grin And very nice it was too!

Piscivorus · 14/02/2014 00:22

Sarah I tried to make those prawn bhajis and they just dissolved in the oil leaving me with a pan of greasy prawn porridge that stunk the house out :(

I have made the thai pork meatballs with peanut satay dip from that book which is lovely

Calamity Yaaay! You've got it! That is exactly the way to think

Lighthousekeeping · 14/02/2014 00:26

I have a four hour journey on Saturday. I'm not looking forward to it and I useislly love buying my big French stick filled with tuna mayo. And a croissant and cappucino. God knows what I'm going to eat.

ElBombero · 14/02/2014 07:53

OK so I am on an official stall. 3 weeks of STS. What needs to be done? I am keeping my diet under 20g every day, I have checked a few time on the dreaded sticks and always in ketosis.

So I need to give up dairy??? (Really really don't want to) I'm egg free and a nibble on a cheese and 2 cream coffees are my treat. But if that's what it takes...Hmm

Also people have mentioned caffeine being a staller?

captainmummy · 14/02/2014 08:07

Bombero - have you tried the ubercamp? There is also a dreadful thing called a fatfast which others on other forums have done; it sounds awful and goes against the grain of BC (ie, no weighing, no stressing, no restrictions other than LC) and I for one wouldnt try it. Maybe give it another week or so?

Caffeine has been shown in some studies to be a problem for some. Try caffeine-free, and cut down to 1 coffee-and-cream ?

How much do you have to lose?

Suzymoo9 · 14/02/2014 08:08

Elbomb keep in there - I stalled for 4 weeks, now I'm losing again. Did cut back on cream and cheese but still have them.

ElBombero · 14/02/2014 08:16

Initially had 2 stone to loose, lost 1 stone within 3 weeks (startup BC on the warm up week) and then no shift for last 3 week. I am sitting at 10st and want to get to 9st. I was 9 pre preg, LO is 5 month now. I'm BF not that I think that matters.

Is übercamp on spreadsheet?

SayraT · 14/02/2014 08:24

SMS

Had a great time last night although I don't think I will be able to lift anything today and have a massive bruise on my leg Grin Can't wait to go back.

B: Coffee with cream
L: Salmon fillet with spinach and broccoli (not got enough fat here I don't think)
S: FF yoghut
D: Steak and celeriac chips or something unless OH gets home early this weekend and makes something else

I am so glad its Friday I've had a busy week though I've had a student in the lab to help me which has been amazing. I've got ~1500 samples to process from a study I did and this week we've probably managed to get about 200 done. Doing it my self would have taken me 2-3 weeks. I need another student!

SayraT · 14/02/2014 08:25

Elbombero yes ubercamp is at the bottom of the spreadsheet, there are a few different option I think. One with fish and meat, one without and an egg free one maybe?

gussiegrips · 14/02/2014 08:26

I'm stalling too.

It's a bit depressing, really.

Bah.

ElBombero · 14/02/2014 08:37

It is, I'm gonna stay strong and not stray. although am I desperate for sugar, especially tonight, I want processo and choc :( not that there's much romance here!!

captainmummy · 14/02/2014 08:55

Guys - this is a WOE, a Way of Eating; not a diet. You will stall, you will feel like a chocolate or two, but this WOE is he best for health, for fighting diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease... have a choc if you must, but 'mindfully'.

It is a marathon, not a sprint.

ElBombero · 14/02/2014 08:59

Is the idea of übercamp that it lasts for only lass for 3 days? I could deal with that

CrabbyWinterBottom · 14/02/2014 09:05

Glad you enjoyed it Pseudo. Smile

Cider it's interesting about The Netherlands isn't it. I knew about our 'great flood' of 1853, but had no idea so many people had died over there. Interesting too, I thought, that we are in the news over there whereas UK news is totally focused on what's happening in the south east here; I'm sure this weather must be causing huge problems in other countries too.

Sarah thank you for thinking of us. She had the dressings changed and the nurse was pleased with how they're healing. She's got waterproof dressings on now and the nurse said that once they drop off she should be fine with just ointment on them. xDP said 'they don't think there'll be permanent scars' so I'm assuming they look pretty awful at the moment. They're in Kaitaia in the far north now for a week or so and she was very cheerful when I talked to her on skype just before they left Auckland.

Trashy Grin at your DS living independently. Hope there are no Camberwell carrots involved. Wink Yes triplets is bonkers. It wasn't an IVF pregnancy either (where I think you have an inkling that you may be looking at multiples). They had one child barely more than a year old, decided to have one more and... Oops they got three! Shock Their DD1 was under two when the triplets were born, the triplets were very poorly and one almost died. They have a lot to cope with! One triplet has autism and they think the older girl has AS. They're similar ages to my DD and the triplets are lovely kids but it's terrifying to think what it's going to be like in that house when they are all simultaneously premenstrual! Shock Well done on resisting the valentines chocolates.

Grin @ broccoli as a gateway vegetable! Grin

Food yesterday
L - smallish slice of crustless quiche
S - couple slices parma ham with some pesto
S - yoghurt 'ice cream'
D - brussel sprout stir fry with chicken and chorizo
3L water, 3 cups tea.
Funny day yesterday - didn't feel very hungry but sort of knew I was. Didn't eat enough and my will was weak and gave into wine temptation. Shared a bottle of red with DP.

CalamityKate · 14/02/2014 09:27

For those getting disheartened - patience! I can say that because I was exactly the same.

What helps me is to look at it logically - I lost really well for a couple of weeks. Therefore whatever I was doing was working. As long as I keep doing whatever was working, it doesn't make any sense that it would stop working ( in the case of Sing TS) and it makes even LESS sense that what was making me lose would suddenly switch to making me gain!

Therefore, as long as you do what you were doing in the first place, it will work. I fluctuated sooo much after the first couple of weeks. Once I gained 4lb overnight. But it came off as easily as it went back on. Then I STS for almost 3 weeks (I think; when you weigh too often it feels longer) but I've started losing again. No huge changes; in fact I've probably eaten far too many nuts lately but they seem to fill me up really well. I think I've cut back a fair bit on milk and cheese so that might have helped. Not sure.

Anyway - keep on keeping on! If it worked to begin with, chances are it still is. Just in a roundabout - and admittedly irritating - sort of way :)

CalamityKate · 14/02/2014 09:29

Does anyone know of a coconut oil that doesn't taste coconutty?

I like BPC but don't always fancy coconut flavoured coffee!

SteeleyeStan · 14/02/2014 09:30

Morning all.

Supersal I was thinking the same, that it might be better not to go into too much detail if eating something very non-BC, just to avoid causing cravings.

Prettybird We had our total fill of cauliflower sides in some point too. Just couldn’t face it in any form in ages then. Luckily that’s now passed. Grin

Chester I now have duck and mousse envy. Hope it’s nice!

Trash Yes to coconut oil in herbal teas, and I like it in green tea too. :) Well done resisting the chocolates.

Lighthouse Take your own snacks/food with you. It might be hard to find any LC stuff on the road, and so much harder to resist buying the carby stuff.

ElBombero Three weeks of staying the same doesn’t sound bad in any way to me. I’m sure at least some older Atkins books for example wouldn’t talk about an actual stall until you’ve stayed the same for a six weeks ^without any cheats or let ups at all. If you wanna try going dairy free or caffeine free etc I’d try one thing at a time for a few weeks (one week’s not really enough for your system to clear up of something, if you’re intolerant), so that if it works you know what was the problem.

Crabby - Glad to hear DD’s on the mend. That’s all really interesting about the flooding and the Dutch. I’ve done reading on local history and was really surprised to learn just how dramatically our little town has flooded in the past, though it’s definitely not a flood risk area now. And yes, British shenanigans and happenings seem to be in the news elsewhere much more so than the other way around. You wouldn’t expect to hear anything about the weather in Finland in British media, unless something very dramatic indeed happened, but their papers and news seem to cover every storm over here, for some reason.

I had some berries and cream yesterday, like I was kind of planning. I was just feeling randomly cravey and starting to fantasize about ice cream etc, so it seemed like the most decent thing to “cheat” with. It was so filling I then didn’t eat my lunch.

Chicken soup was amazing. I often too lazy to bother faffing about with chicken carcasses, but it was worth the effort. Loads of cream and butter were involved, too, and shallots, garlic, herbs, green beans, turnip and a small carrot.

No Valentine’s Day celebrations over here this year. It’s DH’s birthday on Monday and we’ll have some LC cheesecake then, but decided not to bother with anything today. DH might bring a bottle of wine home in the evening, but we’ll see.

Food plan is:
B: Same old fried eggs and coconut oily coffee (I’m clearly a creature of habit!)
L: Last night’s chicken soup – yay!
S: Leerdammer, I guess, if needed.
D: Smoked mackerel and salad. And maybe a glass of wine.

BIWI · 14/02/2014 09:30

Listen to captainmummy - she speaks sense!

Weeks 3, 4 and 5 are renowned for no/slow weight loss - or even a gain. Please don't be disheartened.

ElBombero - you have lost a stone! That's fabulous! Of course the rate of loss will slow down now. And didn't you have an experiment with 're-feeding'? Sorry to say, but if you re-introduced carbs too early then you will have delayed becoming keto-adapted - hence (possibly) the lack of loss now.

Ask yourselves: are you enjoying the food? Do you feel deprived? Are you hungry all the time? Hopefully the answers will be YES, NO and NO!

Just think what the alternative would be if you were to revert to low calorie or low fat dieting - counting/weighing everything, always hungry, eating nasty low fat food full of artificial ingredients. Need I go on?!

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day.

I don't weigh myself mid week, always on a Monday but today for the first time someone who hasn't been aware of the low carbing said 'You have lost weight'

Feels good - even with my little gain last week
