Here's The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And The Weight Tracker

By now, if everyone has been following Bootcamp/Bootcamp Light rules properly then we should all be keto-adapted, and should be burning fat. Yippee!!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Good to see you back Helium and sorry things are so tough for you right now Flowers

DH is back in the UK, a bit later than planned and without his bag which got left behind, but on British soil which is the main thing. Just hope the trains are ok this evening so he can get home.

I did write a post on the iPad this morning but as it’s not here I assume I forgot to press send. Oh well, the gist was that I feel like I’ve eaten funny this week, not off plan, but not proper meals. So today I will try to rectify that:

B: scrambled eggs, ham, butter, splosh of slightly dubious looking cream
L: left over spag bol
S: BPC
D: Salmon, celeriac chips, roasted broccoli (agree with Helium - soooo good)

Busy day in the office so hope that lot should keep me going after yesterday’s snack-a-thon.

EwanHoozami · 13/02/2014 09:36

Oh helium, what a shit time you're having. Wishing you lots of strength. Your DCs sound wonderful. And that broccoli looks tremendous - thank you!

My yogurt breakfast just didn't hit the spot this morning so I got in from the school run and inhaled a three egg and spinach omelette. And I could have eaten it again..

Lovecat · 13/02/2014 09:58

Oh God, Helium, what a nightmare ((())) Thanks sending you lots of happy thoughts and strengthening vibes. Your DC sound like an absolute credit to you and hopefully the SW will see ex's allegations for the horseshit they undoubtedly are. The broccoli recipe looks gorgeous :)

I have a day of tidying away and cleaning prior to DD's party on Sunday - if I start now, I may have a slight chance of it being ready by then...Confused If you see me on here after 10am, kick my arse!

Good luck to your DH, Chester, it's bad out there. DH is on the road to Birmingham today, I'm hoping nothing untoward happens.

SMS - yesterday was yoghurt, cream & flaxseed, then the lovely but not low-carb meal & wine at the restaurant. Barely any water drunk. Today will be better (it can't get much worse :o)! Plan for today is BPC, ham salad with avocado for lunch, then scallops with pak choi, broccoli and cauli rice for this evening. And water. Looots of water. :)

prettybird · 13/02/2014 10:00

You add chilli flakes to just about everything BIWI Grin

SteeleyeStan · 13/02/2014 11:16

Helium - sorry you're going through such a shit time! Thanks Brew

We've survived last night's storm with nothing but a broken fence panel, as far as I can tell. I was worried about DH last night too, since train company's website was only showing "delayed" on everything, the motorway was closed (so traffic and buses bound to have been a mess), and he wasn't answering his bloody phone. Angry He got home safe and sound too, luckily, if wet and grumpy.

I ended up getting a grilled chicken yesterday, so I had some of that for lunch with mayo, and we ate the legs for dinner with buttery broccoli. DH took a chicken salad for lunch, and I shall be boiling what's left of the poor birdie for soup tonight. (I don't understand how some people make a chicken last for days and days for a whole family!)

So today:
B: Fried eggs and coffee with coconut oil.
L: Feta salad with olive oil. I'm also thinking of allowing myself some blueberries with double cream and/or Greek yoghurt.
D: Creamy chicken and veggie soup.

CrabbyWinterBottom · 13/02/2014 11:19

Trashy meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) tincture is great for heartburn. Couldn't have been without it when I was pregnant. You could maybe get it from a good health food shop or Neal's Yard Remedies?

Wow twin boys! How old are they now? Neighbour had been told that hers were identical but she's doubting that now as she thinks they look different. I think that was based on them thinking that they were MCDA (monochorionic diamniotic), so sharing a placenta, whereas the midwife thought there were two placentas so could be non-identical (still could be DCDA identical twins though). All the more exciting to see as they grow up! One of my other neighbours has triplets... It must be something in the water. Grin

Athel Swap the guylain for low(ish) carb chocolate tart to go with the prosecco and you won't have to feel so bad about those occasional fuckit moments. Wink That's scary about the floods - I hope the water doesn't come any higher. I know what you mean about the media coverage - it's appallingly London-centric. Much easier for the politicians to nip over to Surrey to do their concerned-face walkabouts than traipse oop North, I guess. Hope the house buying goes through ok.

Ooh BIWI I remember a walk along the Wandle with someone I was crazy about (not reciprocated) many years ago, who was staying with a friend in Colliers Wood. It's not the most picturesque waterway but I was happy as a pig in shit that day!

Oh Helium that's awful. What a shit your xH is making spurious allegations. Angry Well done you for not falling into carbs and wine. You're absolutely right that it wouldn't help your mental clarity at all. Who cares about weight loss for now... what is much more important is looking after yourself with good nourishing food and conserving your strength to get through this horrible time. I've heard that stress hormones such as cortisol impact on weight loss too, so when all this is resolved then I'm sure the weight will drop off. Wink How old are your DCs? Do they want 50/50 custody? I'm sure the judge should take account of the children's wishes?

Pseudo the more you blitz it in the food processor, the more clumpy it becomes, until it's dough-like. So blitz in short bursts until it's at the consistency you want. I like it mainly coarse breadcrumb texture, but with some slightly larger lumps. I pour half to two thirds of the topping on, press it down a bit, then add the rest to be a bit more crumbly on the top.

CrabbyWinterBottom · 13/02/2014 11:36

Ah just seen that the thread has moved on as usual (my mum range so there was a hiatus in my posting!) and wise Willie has talked about the stress-weightloss thing.

I always roast or stirfry my broccoli and will definitely be trying that recipe. We've got vegetarian friends coming for dinner on Saturday and I'd like to keep it low carb. Have pretty much decided to do a tapas-y sort of spread of little dishes. I might do that broccoli.

So far I've got on my list...
Mini savoury tartlets - almond pastry with caramelised shallot, goats' cheese and pine nuts.
Spanish tortilla made with celeriac
Or... Celeriac dolphin pose
Mushrooms (with some posh ones added) sauteed with sherry and an egg yolk added at the end (thank you Rick Stein).
Some dips with vegetable crisps and crudités.

It's just occurred to me that I could get the deep fat fryer out. Shock Then I could do proper veg crisps and stuff, and deep fried cheese coated in almonds. [excited]

Any favourite veggie dishes that would work as a tapas portion? All suggestions gratefully received. Smile

Steel glad there wasn't too much damage last night.

CrabbyWinterBottom · 13/02/2014 11:36

My mum range? My mum rang!

WillieWaggledagger · 13/02/2014 11:41

something with halloumi crabby?

arselikekylie · 13/02/2014 11:43

Just celebebrated my 1 stone near enough weight loss with a back, neck and shoulder massage and facial. It was lovely.

I noticed whilst she was massaging my face that I could feel the pressure on my cheek bones. CHEEK BONES!! I haven't seen or felt these in years.

QueenQueenie · 13/02/2014 11:50

olives!
padron peppers
qualis eggs / celery salt
celeriac bravas...

BIWI · 13/02/2014 11:54

prettybird - you've noticed Grin

crabby - mushroom pate, with celery to dip (if you don't do the Rick Stein one!)
Roasted peppers with lime juice/olive oil and fresh coriander

EvaTheOptimist · 13/02/2014 13:45

Ooo how fabulous Kylie and what a good idea

Kitchenfairy I put you STS on the spreadsheet

Good luck Helium, I hope social services become your ally in this.

Crabby how about cauliflower cheese, would that lend itself to a tapas portion?, or something along the spinach and feta bake line? But your menu sounds fab as it is. Got room for one more guest?

I spent many years of my life living near the Wandle -Carshalton/Hackbridge; nowhere near there now though.

BIWI · 13/02/2014 13:49

Oh yes, Crabby - roasted cauliflower florets, with cumin would be another suggestion

OP posts:
CrabbyWinterBottom · 13/02/2014 13:57

Thank you - I like all those suggestions. I'm going to make a shortlist and then think about narrowing down duplicated ingredients iyswim. I'm all excited now and thinking of all the many things I can deep fry - halloumi for instance. Do you think they'll miss bread? You'd certainly never get a meal like that in Spain without bread being an integral part of it. The problem is that if I get some for them to eat, then I know I'll be too weak willed not to eat it if it's in front of me. Confused

Just wanted to say to all the time-challenged bootcampers who want simple recipes...
I just made a cottage pie for my neighbours who've had the twins. I made rather more than I intended to, so they're going to be eating cottage pie for the next month (hope they've got plenty of freezer space!). Anyway it took an hour to do the prep and get it into the oven and I could have done it in less time if I'd been a bit more savvy with the timings. Perfect for batch cooking at the weekend?

Hello all from snowing one minute, sun the next Somerset.....

helium Thanks can't think of anything helpful to say that others haven't but - glad you're surviving and broccoli looks gorgeous.

tea just very belatedly reading though the recipe thread and realise that its your broccoli and stilton soup that I am mainlining almost daily.... yum. thanks !

trashy Grin at raining upwards into your nostrils

crabbby all your food ideas make my mouth water. when I have some time off work I am going to have a proper kitchen day trying all these things out.

I have just been for my gym induction - and far from feeling a proper charlie, it was ok..... even looking in the huge mirrors wasn't too bad with eyes half closed I am signed up for pilates, body balance, rpm and body pump. All of this in my lunch hours , so I can still get home to DDx3 and DH ( worse than a child) All sounds amazing - may possibly kill me Grin. BUt - any loose flabby bits - watch out, I am coming after you with a kettlebell thing !

CiderwithBuda · 13/02/2014 15:09

Another hello from sunny Somerset! Waves at MrsHugeJarse! I'm in Taunton - where are you? The big Dutch pumps are about to be switched on so the water on the Levels should recede. Apparently a bit of a guessing game so fingers crossed it actually does what it's meant to!

Helium - nice to see you and sorry it's all so shit. I have been seeing a hypnotherapist and saw him this morning. He suggested meditating for 20 mins a day to just achieve a state of relaxation and that allows the sub conscious to get to work. When you have so much other stuff going on and so much stress it might help you. He says himself he was initially sceptical but finds it helps him.

Avocado and Roquefort sounds fab. On my shopping list!

Lam chops, mashed swede and something tonight for me. Might try the roasted cauliflower.

And I spoke too soon. Cloudy again!

CiderwithBuda · 13/02/2014 15:10

Oh - has anyone seen chipping around?

colette · 13/02/2014 15:20

crabby -your food sounds amazing ! Aso how about a fondu with small pieces of veg.

can't keep up with the thread - sorry to hear about all the flooding . Not so bad in wes of scotland ( for a change )

CrabbyWinterBottom · 13/02/2014 15:48

Cider I was just thinking that today about Chipping.

I've got a very loyal follower (my one and only fan! Grin ) on my blog (not the food one the other one) called Charles, from the Netherlands. He was telling me about the Dutch enginners coming over to help with the floods...

"The past 20 years we have worked on the floodplains in the Netherlands. Next year the project is completed. But new plans will now start to ensure safety till 2065.
In between, we’ll help you, I understand. Much attention here in the media about the situation in Somerset. I learned that Dutch engineers have helped with the creation of certain areas 300 years ago. British parliamentarians now want us to come back. Which we love to do!

"55 percent of the Netherlands is prone to flooding, 26 percent lies below sea level and 29 per cent is susceptible to river flooding. Without constant attention to this, we run a risk.

"Our country has learned its lesson in 1953. In addition to 1,800 deaths there were 100,000 people lost their homes and possessions. The flood of 1953 was followed by the construction of the largest defense system to protect against high water in the world (Delta Works). The American Society of Civil Engineers named it one of the seven modern wonders of the world.

"I was not born in 1953 but my mother often told me how people in other parts of the country gave food to the victims. The Red Cross eventually received more food and clothing than they needed. Many older Dutch watch the BBC News these days. For some it will be a shock to see how the cars of the Red Cross drive through the streets of Somerset.

"But there are other countries such as Germany and Austria, where they have had major floods in recent decades. In places where many rivers come together, the Netherlands is still vulnerable. Our King William Alexander, has studied water management…"

teaandthorazine · 13/02/2014 15:51

MrsHJ - good innit? Can't really take the credit though, think I nicked it from the India Knight book! The mashed eggs with Boursin though, that one I am claiming credit for! Grin

Piscivorus · 13/02/2014 16:41

Well I stood on the scales this morning and, although I don't feel fatter I have had a shoowh, that's a whoosh gone backwards Angry. I guess it's because I had a naughty weekend but hey-ho.

We have survived the storms here with not too much damage, a few tiles off and, amazingly two of them hit the conservatory roof and bounced off! Oddly enough the 2 bungalows on our block have a lot more damage than the houses.

I am going to attempt a cauliflower pizza tonight and have planned a menu for tomorrow although DD will be joining us so it will be more of a family dinner than a romantic one (not that DH and I are terribly romantic even when there's just the two of us!)
Starter will be salmon and halloumi with a sweet chilli dressing and salad leaves
Main is rib eye steak, swede mash, the roasted broccoli up there^^ and maybe some other veg or cherry tomatoes
Pud will be crabbys chocolate tarts, strawberries and cream
I'm drooling already Smile

StuntNun · 13/02/2014 16:55

My last day on ubercamp has been detailed by my mum wanting to go KFC avoid avoid it is death to low carbers. I had two pieces of chicken but it wasn't too bad, only 14g of carbs added on to my day. So I'm coming in at 30g of carbs today, proportions 9% carbs, 27% protein, 64% fat which isn't too bad.

B:kippers with butter, tea, BPC
Boil in the bag kippers make an awesome low carb breakfast by the way - 3 minutes in the microwave and they were lovely.
L: 2 pieces KFC and a coffee
D: meatballs in homemade ragu and courgetti

Must go and drink more water. Ubercamp is definitely working, I've gone another notch tighter on my belt this morning. Hopefully next Monday's weigh in will show a bit more improvement.

Unfortunately a mysterious parcel with a big Hotel Chocolat logo arrived for DH yesterday so I have a feeling Valentine's Day may cause a minor derailment.

CrabbyWinterBottom · 13/02/2014 16:57

Ooh colette I love fondue!
