What happened to your Wedding Ring after Divorce?

a question for all lone parents, male or female...
At what stage did you stop wearing your wedding ring? Did you feel bad, or celebrate? What happened to it?

I carried on wearing it for ages, dx bullied me into stopping eventually, and nicked the ring as well.

I dont feel right wearing no ring at my age, and after so many ring wearing years. Its a bit like calling yourself "Miss" when youre 40. So Ive started to wear an old signet ring, its not even gold, on my wedding ring finger.
What I really need is a ring that says "available for marriage, but p**s off if youre just after casual sex"
Is there any recognised code for divorcees?

Never got married so am used to the sad spinster ring-free look!!!

I wouldn't wear a ring on that finger if you want to pull though - people do check!!!!

I thought a non wedding/engagement ring would not be too offputting...actually just to complicate things, Im in Germany where the ring finger seems to be on the right hand anyway.

I sold it and bought a new, lovely ring.

When I hit 40, I shall insist on all men calling me miss!

here in Germany everyone over about 25 gets Frau as a courtesy title, same in France (Madame).

I never had a wedding ring as nevermarried but everyone insistes on calling me a divorcee, presumably because I do not fit their vicky pollard stereo type single mum image.
If i had a wedding ring though I would imagine I might get rid and buy something beautiful for myself instead.

I should imagine NN(and please don't take this the wrong way)that they're pretty inexpensive, too.

I know exactly what you mean about not having a ring making you feel juvenile. Xp and I did not marry, but 3 years ago I got myself a lovely ring in Bangkok (it's cheaper over there!) with a ruby and diamonds which I wear on my right hand. I figured that as I was doing all the masculine tasks in our house I should also do the task of buying myself a ring. Since then, I have noticed an ad campaign in a US women's magazine by the diamond companies, which is for the "Right Hand Ring". The slogan is, "Your left hand wants to be held, your right hand wants to be held high. Women of the world, raise your right hand", ie the right hand ring is for strong and independent women who have their own money and can buy themselves jewellery without prissily waiting for a man to do it for them. It doesn't exclude the possibility that at some point a nice guy might put a ring on the other hand!

I took my ring off once ex dh moved out and it felt very good. It was only a cheap ring so I had no compunction in chucking it out with the rubbish!! I now wear my engagement ring on my right hand ring finger - no reason to waste it!! Also changed everything to "Ms" - hate being referred to as "Mrs" now. I am not anti marriage as such but feels good to be standing on my own two feet and I have decided there is nothing to be ashamed of being a divorcee. Lets face it nearly 50% of marriages end in divorce these days...

Stopped wearing it immediately we decided to split. Divorced 2 years later and since remarried. Discovered old wedding ring and engagement ring in jewellery box. Sold them on Ebay and bought a hoover with the profit

I like my ringless status, it makes me feel young - which is just as well, because nothing much else does!!!
Have kept all my rings: engagement I plan to give to DD when she is 18 as it is a lovely ring, eternity I wear on special occasions as it is very sparkley and not really sure what to do with wedding ring

I stopped wearing my engagement ring when we split and when i found he had someone else about 6 months ago and he thought id be jealous cause i wanted him backi took great delight in pawning both my engagement and eternity rings !! and even more delight in telling him i had to show just how much i wanted him back LOL

my engagement ring and wedding together only cost £150 so I don't think ebay will do much for me. If you squint you can just make a diamond . . . the engagement ring is in its box upstairs and wedding ring is in my wallet (along with some love notes from ex-h - to this day I have no idea why I can't throw them out, it was my choice to begin with!)

I've still got them. Have fantasies about selling them on e-bay some time but too stoopid and lazy to bother to work out how to do photos.

Took them off about a week after we split up. It felt weird still wearing them. Keeping them for now (still a bit sentimental...)

i was engaged to my ex p and pawned my ring too.... it was only a cheap one, but stil/ 1/4 carat diamond..... he wasnt impressed but do i care?!
