Is this Mumsnet (a board for Mums)? If so, why do you allow men to post on here? Why can't they contribute to their own discussion boards.

lockets it means she's had one too many white lightnings

claudialyman · 30/09/2009 23:08

God i love it when a guy suddenly sticks his head into a thread and reacts in utter horror that we are indeed (discussing christmas in august). Sometimes the male cut-to-the-chase perspective is v funny. OP go and hack into the dads section masquerading as a man and it might make you feel better

Why is this in 'lone parents'? Does the OP assume that all lone parents must be mums rather than dads?

alwayslookingforanswers · 30/09/2009 23:11

here you go RG's happy post

Mamazon, that made me laugh too!

Have we reached the bottom of the question 'why did OP post this in Lone Parents'????

Stirring, stirring, stirring, those trolls they keep on stirring......

colditz · 30/09/2009 23:12

There is very little in my life that is more fun than troll baiting (why yes, my life is a bit dull sometimes). Sadly, this one seems fairly unbaitable, not responding wittily to even the most thinly veiled sarcasm.

The reality is this, vonstingerrrr. You don't know who you are talking to. We could all be men, for all you know, getting our kicks from hiding on parenting forums talking to the one sole real woman talking about her stitches.

We might all have beards, too.

Georgimama · 30/09/2009 23:15

I'm a woman with a stray black hair poking out of my chinny chin chin. Mother has the same problem. The perils of turning 30.

bratley · 30/09/2009 23:15

Want to go to bed.... vonstingerrrr, can you just admit defeat and do one so I can go to bed knowing that I haven't missed any of this?

overmydeadbody · 30/09/2009 23:15

We are all hairy truckers anyway. Or, at least, I am. And I have a willy

piprabbit · 30/09/2009 23:17

Clonk

overmydeadbody · 30/09/2009 23:19

Damn, the cider's gone to her head and she's passed out hasn't she?

zazen · 30/09/2009 23:24

I think this is possibly the foulest thread I've ever read on Mumsnet.

And no it's not just the grocer's apostrophes (and maybe even trolling) of the OP, but the general name calling and revoltingly bullying ad hominum attacks.

Tolerant?
welcoming?

What's with the 'Fuck the Fuck off Dearie' shite, and name calling?

Please, can we be polite at least?

And whether men post on Mumsnet is an interesting topic to some, even if it was 'done to death' in the neolithic era of Mumsnet.

I've been posting and lurking for a few years now and making some small observations of the tenor (so to er, sing speak) of threads which have male posters, and I have to say it DOES change the dynamic to have a man posting on a thread, - maybe for the best, maybe not, but it does change the dynamic even so.

Some people might welcome that, some don't.

I really am saddened by these pages of offensive vitriol and personal attacks- and not by the OP, who may or may not be a troll, or a newbie, or an alien, or just someone who gets her apostrophes in a muddle.

I think we can do better on Mumsnet.
I hope so.

I know I can, eh, click the click off, but I don't think that's the spirit of Mumsnet.

Is it?

alwayslookingforanswers · 30/09/2009 23:26

sorry if someone is being a twat - I'll tell them they've being a twat.

And what utter tripe about a man posting on thread making the tone different - maybe you spend long enough analyzing threads to notice the difference, but in nearly 5yrs of posting here I can't say I've ever notice the difference when a man posts on the thread.

Apparently there's a lone male parent posted on this thread........couldn't tell you who it is, and I don't think the tone changed after someone revealed that piece of information.

vonstingerrrr · 30/09/2009 23:27

so, mumsnet is really parent's net. I accept your new title. No, I am not a man. I have no idea what the word 'misandrist' means. Maybe alwayslookingforanswers can clarify. Ladyfoot, are you a man? If not, you should be. Maybe the new Tory govt. will welcome you to implement it's social welfare reforms.

I never knew Pan was a man for ages.

colditz · 30/09/2009 23:30

Oh come off it.

Even I know what a misandrist is, and I'm 'thick as shit'!

it's MUMSnet, it's STAYING mumsnet, and we don't really care what you think we should be called. You're not in charge.

alwayslookingforanswers · 30/09/2009 23:31

and I think I'm entitled to mouth off a bit at someone that is obviously a troll with not many brain cells. I've had a pretty shite day - and it's better I take it out here on this thread than on my DC, or on some other poor unsuspecting genuine poster on another thread.
