I enjoy meals out (although I am NOT a foodie), spending time with friends and catching up, card and board games, reading, ten-pin bowling, (non-strenous!) walks.

I like musicals and have recently seen Joseph and Evita and am going to see We Will Rock You in May. I also enjoy the cinema, but as I am currently being subject to kids films - on Saturday mornings I am often found at Cineworld kids club, with my kids not on my own! - the occasional film with a rating other than U or PG is a welcome diversion.

I don't watch a lot of tv (I am discounting the background Cbeebies/CBBC as I'm not the one watching it), but do have a bit of a Coronation Street addiction - comes from being a northern girl. I also try and watch Question Time and This Week if I can keep myself awake, and like Saturday Kitchen if I'm having a lazy weekend. I like comedy - 2 Pints and Not Going Out are favorites.

I am happy spending a few hours out in the garden just pottering, although at the moment it looks like it needs a bit more than that.

I'm not a clubber and while I listen to music it is more whatever is on the radio rather than being a big part of my life. I enjoy spending time with a small group of friends rather than loads of people.

I love summer and being warm and would prefer not to have winter! I lived in the tropics for a few years and while friends there missed the seasons, I loved knowing that it would be 31c and sunny when I woke up. April has been lovely, lets hope we get a good summer.

I have travelled a fair bit, further flung places when I lived in the tropics - Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, and closer to home more recently - Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, Canaries. I also love Cornwall, and have spent a week there every May for the last few years.

I like animals, at the moment I have a couple of chickens, which are, umm, not very interesting - but quite productive, and suprisingly good at eating the leftovers. I have always had a dog around and am currently debating whether to get another.

I live in a village just north of Cambridge and having worked in Cambridge for 8 years I am now working in Newmarket, and am happy with not having to battle with the traffic every morning.

I would say that I am an intelligent (well, brain cells slightly fried since having children!), independant woman who is happy with her own company. I might come across as slightly aloft at first, but it's more shyness.

I am looking for someone to have fun and enjoy spending time with, whether that is every now and again to see a film or go for a meal - or something more.

(then pic as on my profile on here)

Which dating site will you b using? nice pic, i tend not to say so much in profiles, be mysterious, leave them wanting to know more

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 21:19

pof

OP posts:
ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 21:20

problem is I read ones that don't say much and they don't interest me - hence my essay.
Looks shorter on pof than on here.

and thanks on pic, profile has been on for a few months and had a handful of replies, put pic on last week and inbox went red hot.

i would find it too lengthy tbh,can you try to condense somehow
plus i wouldn't mention the dc beyond saying you're a mum in the essentials
remember you're not just a mum here your chasing squirrels who is a woman in her own right

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 21:43

would you just cut whole para's? Point taken on not just a mum.

OP posts:
SamJamsmum · 13/05/2009 21:49

I would take out the 'NOT a foodie' in the first sentence as it sounds a bit aggressive.
I would take out the reference to brain cells being fried by kids as I think they've been mentioned enough and it sounds too negative.
I would spell it as 'independent' not 'independant'.

I think you sound very calm, laid-back and happy with who you are. Good profile.

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 21:52

yup, I reread and wondered about that one, I have a few spelling blackspots and that's one of them.
Can I write not rather than NOT?
also thought about the brain cells! Am considering taking the earlier cinema/tv stuff out aswell.

Thanks all so far.

This is interesting.

SamJamsmum · 13/05/2009 22:05

Definitely better.

Sorry to sound like the spelling police but needs to be 'surprisingly' and 'strenuous'.

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 22:07

arrrgggh - so spelling isn't my strong point. And suprisingly is another of them. Thanks.

I like Lou's - are you me? LOL

OP posts:
SamJamsmum · 13/05/2009 22:07

I like the longer version. You can hear your voice a bit more. But I'm not an internet dating expert so perhaps Lou has more of a feel.

Shitemum · 13/05/2009 22:07

Change 'aloft' to 'aloof'.

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 22:08

I did it wrong again didn't I, duh!

tbh I am chatting to 2 or 3 men atm, but was interested in the other thread and thought I'd give it a try.

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 13/05/2009 22:09

think lou is spot on here tbh
condensed and to the point

lou33 · 13/05/2009 22:14

long profiles are off putting, most wont read past the first few lines, and by saying less, if someone does start up a conversation, you have more to discuss as a way of getting to know them

boudoiricca · 13/05/2009 22:15

Hmmm... OK, just done civil's and am getting into this honesty thing now, so apologies in advance for any offence etc etc...

I would shake things up and mix them around a bit - it's a little... dull. And you're clearly not. EVERYONE likes eating out and going out and watching telly. Why not shift the more personal stuff about you up a bit.

Beginning with "I love summer" and your travels would make you much more unique and interesting.

Initially I thought it was too lengthy and you've resolved that to some extent, but I'd run some of the sentences together into paragraphs now, rather than a list of sentences / bullet points. Especially as they ALL being with "I"... (hard to avoid in this kind of thing, I know).

I (see ) also think you need to maintain a bit more mystery and cut some of the details. You like musicals - they can ask you which ones. You love Cornwall - they can ask when and where...

You sound lovely, just need to spice things up a bit, in my very humble opinion...

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 22:21

actually, I think I am rather dull.

I like your comments and ideas though.

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 13/05/2009 22:26

you're not dull at all you need to have a think here and condense

aseriouslyblondemoment · 13/05/2009 22:29

btw dont know how long others' profiles are but mine is 3/4 lines long, the same for the man i'm looking for lol

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 22:30

Noooooooo! You're not DULL! Not at all. Just a bit shy and intimidated by this terrible self-on-the-line thing... Which is entirely understandable.

ChasingSquirrels · 13/05/2009 22:31

I suppose that's the difference, I read a 3/4 line profile and I don't know enough to be interested. Like attracts like I guess.
