So, as a 30yr old, would you consider dating a 22yr old ??

I know it is only 8 years but I am struggling to even entertain the idea, not really because of the age gap but because of him only being 22 iyswim.

I would definitely consider it!

Why not? See how it goes. If he turns out to be less mature then hoped you can always chuck him!

When I started dating DH I was 29 and he was 24 - and he was lovely kind grown up and the marrying kind

What's the worst that can happen?

Monty27withabunnyrabbit · 08/04/2009 22:12

Hope, if you have a morale squint about him being 22, when's he 23?

GreenMonkies · 08/04/2009 22:20

Just after my 31st birthday I began (light-heartedly) dating an 18 (nearly 19) year old.

9 years later we have two DD's and are planning our wedding.

Age is just a number. If you get on, if you like him, if he likes you, if he's fit, then just do it. You have no way of knowing if it will work out or not unless you try it, and be chuffed that you can turn the head of a Young Man!!

TheCreamEggOfSeptimusQuench · 08/04/2009 22:29

My gut would say no. Probably too immature.

But I went out on a date with a man 6 years my junior (I'm 36, he's 30) last night. I was dreading it, but on balance, I ended up having really quite a nice time.

He was also refreshingly sexy compared to my ex (who was 13 years older than me)

Go on, give it a go

but make sure you post all the details here afterwards!

Yes absolutely

Give it a try and see what happens

lou33 · 08/04/2009 22:46

i'm 42 and had a date with a 28 yr old on sunday, so yes to only an 8yr age gap

NotPlayingAnyMore · 08/04/2009 23:16

I'd never consider dating anyone younger than myself ever again.

iSOLOvechocolate · 08/04/2009 23:20

I'm 45...can I have him please?

StercusAccidit · 08/04/2009 23:28

Well, i'm 31, and when i was first pg, i was asked out by a 25 year old.
I told him i had a DP and was pg, he replied.. "The DP puts me off but the baby doesn't.. i like how honest, funny and faithful you are, if DP ever leaves you, call me"

Was a massive boost to my ego hehe

He's now one of my best friends but i would never go out with him, not because of the age thing but because i am still with DP.
So, yup, go for it, and have fun, bugger what anyone else thinks

TheCreamEggOfSeptimusQuench · 08/04/2009 23:38

NotPlayingAnyMore - why not?

You know how boys tend to mature slower than girls... well, in my experience, they don't tend to catch up as men either.

A couple of my XPs thought they were mature for their age, but they don't realise that while that may be so compared to their peers, it doesn't mean that they're at the same level as an older woman.
Dating men the same age as me hasn't worked out for me for the same reason, but older men have been at least as mature as me, including my lovely DP

Poppity · 09/04/2009 00:19

My husband is 8 years younger than me, it's no problem, do it!

NotPlayingAnyMore · 09/04/2009 13:52

No thanks - been there, done that, learnt the lesson...

JodieO · 10/04/2009 09:21

Same as anything else in life and relationships; it depends on the person. You can't group every man the same just as you can't with women. Age doesn't mean anything imo.

Mspontipine · 12/04/2009 00:57

Yep!! Just make sure you wake up an hour before him in the morning - they're so damn.... unaged!!

ScottishThistle · 12/04/2009 01:22

Oh this has made me chuckle!

Depends on the individual.

Met a 'boy', he told me he was 24. I'm 36 so this was already a HUGE age gap, I wasn't considering a long term relationship. After several nights his mate let it slip he was infact '20', I ran like the wind!
