When you got divorced, did you change your name?

A lot of people are asking if I will change back to my maiden name, but I don't think I will change my name unless I get married again. Did you change your name after getting divorced or leave it?

I have kept my married name as I want to be the same as the kids. My maiden name meant I had to spell both my first and second name so it is easier for that to.

Still get called mrs but prefer miss or even ms.

Ellbell and FAQ it is the first name. My ds has a name which is shortened so his real first name sounds nothing like his actual known by name eg john and jack Margaret and molly etc.

On forms he is the real name and in life he is the shortened version.

This is very different to changing last names.

I don't understand why anyone would give up their name when they got married anyway. Why would they want to belong to someone else to such an extent that they give up such a fundamental part of their identify? I've never understood it.
