Ergh,

The boring single mum life, cooking, cleaning, washing and repeat every day, ALL day! Same shit different day.... 🙄 I can't be bothered to clean again already have today! It's so fucking tedious and boring 😞 just a repetitive life! Sometimes I wonder why I'm even here!!! Anyone else feel like this? I'm 33 have 4 kids and do it alone, no social life, no me time and no one has my children every once in a while soo I can either work or have a break no family help. Just sometimes wonder what the fuck this life is..... I do sometimes think to myself if I had known I was going to be alone in the future with 4 kids I wouldn't have had them.... yeah I'm lucky to have kids but my plan was never to be a single parent and have this boring tedious life I have 😞

You're not enforcing anything that's why they ignore you.

Morningsiesta · 21/06/2024 20:44

I'm SO SICK of cleaning. Sometimes I mix it up and don't clean, then I'm so sick of the filth. Other times, I try to get kids evolved, then I'm so sick of the drama. Totally sucks, OP. Solidarity.

Goingasteady30 · 21/06/2024 20:44

Clean kitchen tops and sink, clean loo, tidy living before bed each night (I find this one makes a big difference) and clean clothes & bed linen. The rest of the house can fall apart around me as long as those things are kept on top of. Sounds like you need a break. Do you have family close by who can take the kids off your hands for half a day perhaps?

Ifallelsefailschocolate · 21/06/2024 20:51

Choose a fun song to tidy table and wash dishes together and make it a silly dance contest
Make sure you say thanks for the little things your children do and get to say thanks too

Do something kind for yourself every day. Take a break to do something you like.

Think of whatever you love doing, and do more of

You are doing something wonderful right now. You are
You are an amazing, multitasking, beautiful mum and have four amazing beautiful children who are learning so much from you , not just how to clean and multitask, but also how to feel happy doing the boring shit every day, how to keep spirits up, feeling happy being yourself and connecting to each other to feel loved and reminded that you are valuable and appreciates in every moment

It’s hard and relentless and unless you need to take lots of breathers to have a special cuppa, have a walk together and have a hot chockie and treat, or do a silly dance together, it will be mind numbing ly hard. You are doing great 💕

Ifallelsefailschocolate · 21/06/2024 21:00

Apologies for typos

Anyhow. Fuck the housework and let’s dance!
Hope you can have more fun with your family and keep your spirits up, and take little breaks each day in the middle of the chaos. ☕️

I feel you OP.
I don't have any help either and I get so sick of coming home from work and doing all the cooking, washing and cleaning every day. It's so tedious and wears me down.

I know my kids should help more, but sometimes having to nag and cajole them to do it is so draining when I'm already worn out.
I've had so many conversations with them about us being a team and tidying up after themselves and helping more, and they always agree but nothing changes.
I know I need to get tougher though.

Literally me! Except I can't work at the moment not till my daughter is a little older! This is exactly me I constantly nag at my boys to clean up after themselves and do their bit in the house but it's just a constant battle and like you say when your tired and worn out you get bored of repeating yourself and just do it because you cannot be bothered with the moans and strops and the arguments 🤷🏼‍♀️

The youngest twos dad again was together over 8 years married 6 months and he cheated on me and moved 4 hours away to be with her where he had another child he sees them every other weekend but when he has them I have the other two 🤷🏼‍♀️

I hate cleaning. I put on headphones and some good music and away I go like Mary poppins. I find it has a big change to my mindset as I'm doing something I enjoy (listening to music or a good audio book.)

Your 1 year old will soon be in nursery/pre school.

MoonshineSon · 22/06/2024 08:35

Oh I feel for you. I got so fucked off with the piss I make them sit down for a wee. They all do now and if they don't I make them clean up. That is a quick lesson in remembering.

This is a good idea! And thank you, you don't understand how much that means to hear someone say that 🤣 I don't ever hear it! 'Your doing brilliant' mad isn't it? The little things hey?

Well I've heard there is something for parents who want to work the new 15 hours or something? I need to research this as I'm desperate to get back to work! I used to work for the NHS in mental health and absolutely loved my job!

Lmao what a useless comment! Thing is Karen is women have children with men thinking that we will live some fairy tale life we don't have kids to become single parents do we? I didn't think when I was younger you know what my goal in life is? I'll have 4 kids and become a single parent and do it myself! 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ MORON

Oh crawl back under your rock!

How was the OP supposed to know that her husband was going to run off with another woman?
He only sees his children two days out of fourteen, but it's the OP you have a go at?

Aw that's really sad. I don't have any help because my parents live an hour away and both work. They would do more if they could though.
It must be worse to have a parent so close who doesn't bother Flowers

CrispieCake · 22/06/2024 09:05

I hear you. Mine are younger and only 2 of them, so must be doubly shit for you.

One thing which I've started doing here is "Tidy time". After dinner (which is normally TV time), the TV remote goes away, I put some music on and the 7yo and I spend 15 minutes tidying. If this isn't done, the TV remote stays away all evening. For older ones, I'd probably make it 20 minutes, allocate specific chores (wipe down kitchen surfaces, do the dishwasher etc) and turn the internet off as well.

I'd also make them spend some time on Saturday morning tidying. Again, all devices off, music on, make it as fun as you can, but make it clear that it is non-negotiable - this is the time we spend on Sat morning tidying our home.

AloeVerity · 22/06/2024 09:05

I’d be making sure that each dad pays exactly 50/50 for the upbringing of their progeny. Then you’d be able to afford a cleaner. So sick of men expecting women to do their job. Have a child - pay for that child. Why should you get lumbered with all the donkey work?

This is a good idea! Thank you. You know sometimes you just think MEHH I'll just do it because of the agg and drama but they do need to help all of you are right. I'll speak to them all today and say that we need to be a team and I can't do it all on my own and I'm not a maid. I have done this numerous times maybe I'm just not consistent enough 🤷🏼‍♀️
