Oh holy hairy bum cracks - have a date and i am bricking it

MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 12:20

i have been chatting to a really lovely guy for quite a while. he is pretty gorgeous and we have really had a laugh chatting over msn and a couple of texts.

well last night we were chatting and then he rang me.

we ended up on the phone until 3am! and we have arranged to meet for drinks tonight

i am absolutly bricking it.

i have so far been on 2 dates since leaving my ex. the first wasn't really a date, more of a play date as we both had our DD's the second was him just turning up at the same bar i was with my friends in....and all he wanted was a "friend with benefits" so nothingg really came of it.

give me all of your very best words of encouragment and moral boosting stories please.

oh and WTF do i wear?

Good luck Mamazon, you look lovely from your profile picture. You will be fine. yes it will be slightly nerve racking but am sure this will pass once you get talking.

I would wear very smart jeans/trousers with a nice top. Smart casual.

Hope it goes well.

You are further down the line from me as I can't even seem to sort out anyone I like on an internet dating site and the only approaches I have had have been from def weirdos, already attached, grandad types or men who are just not my type hence not worth my very limited free time.

Bluebutterfly · 15/02/2008 12:53

Oh best wishes - it is nerve wracking I am sure, but a bit exciting too! And he clearly likes you!

Best wishes!

zippitrippitoes · 15/02/2008 12:56

oh soiunds lovely

it will be nerve wracking

wear going out clothes

i got new ones

but the first date i went on was a climbing wall so i had to

MascaraOHara · 15/02/2008 12:56

Great news! good luck.. sounds exciting

ChorusLine · 15/02/2008 12:59

Fill your boots!!!!

tetti · 15/02/2008 13:51

I'm in the very same situation, meeting mine tomorrow and have exactly the same worries!:-)
It's freezing,so what can you wear eh?lol
I'm going for smart casual if you can call it that, don't want to dress up too much!

Please let us know how you get on,and let's hope we're both lucky and won't experience any real dating disasters!:-)
You can message me if you like and we can pep eachother up!x

MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 13:58

ooh tetti good luck.

Well wouldn't you just know my luck....finally arranged a date with someone nice and i check my account and 2 yes TWO gorgeous and very nice men have been messaging me too.

men really are like buses.

now whats the ettiquete (sp) here? do i message them both and chat away in case tonight doesn't end in the romance of my life? or should i say i am on a date tonight and i will message them if it doesn't work out and risk them finding someone else in the meantime?

ooh its all a bit confusing.

OP posts:
ZippiBabes · 15/02/2008 14:01

you just message them and say nothing to any of them about your dating activities it is none of their business

tetti · 15/02/2008 14:03

I know what you mean! I have 2 gorgeous guys that I've been on msm with (although I've gone abit quiet lately:-)
Yes,men are definetly like buses,I agree with you there.
If everything don't work out,I have the gorgeous little toyboy who cannot offer commitment(which I do want from a man),so,if it all goes absolutely pearshaped tomorrow,I'll probably continue seeing him!:-)

Are you feeling really nervous? I am,badly!
Especially since you get on really well on the phone, you find them very attractive in their pictures, but meeting them in real life? Will you feel the saem? That is what worries me the most!

MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 14:27

im more worried about the fact that he has only seen head shots of me.

whats below the neck is another matter entirely! lol

Now the next thing, im a single mum. i hate telling them that as i worry they will think i am after a meal ticket.

OP posts:
citylover · 15/02/2008 14:28

Can either of you let me know which sites you are on.Maybe I am looking on the wrong ones. LOL

I think you are both a bit younger than me so that might help (I am mid 40s though people say I look younger).

Or maybe I need to wait a bit longer. As I don't think my heart is really in it.

But its good to hear positive stories.

ZippiBabes · 15/02/2008 14:31

have you tried pof or soulmates citylover first is free and second you pay if you are in london then soulmates is good

tho i have met a guy who is in london off pof of course i am not lol

citylover · 15/02/2008 14:48

thanks have been looking on

Dating for Parents, Match, and Uniform Dating. Some rather bizzare ones on the first and last I must say.

Will have a look at POF and soulmates. yes am in London.

I did have a relationship last year and tbh have not got over that. And rather soon after separation and divorce.

Sorry to hijack Mamazon. Good luck again

MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 15:04

im only on fish.

i took a look at uniform dating but i know so many squaddies already there was no point.

ive been on fish for about 4 months and it has taken me this long to build the courage to actually meet anyone so justtake your time.
i found that in the beginning even though i wasn't quite ready to meet anyone it helped to build my confidence just to chat to men again.

OP posts:
MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 16:22

ooh slight chance to breathe.

he is moving today so just spoken to himn and i suggested moving our date to tomorrow so thathe doesn't feel so rushed. he has agreed and makes me sound so very reasonable and considerate (actually i just wanted more time to find something to wear lol)

so have until tomorrow to work myself into a frenzy of excitement.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 15/02/2008 17:09

Thread title really made me chuckle

I am too nervous to even speak to anyone online LOL.

tetti · 15/02/2008 18:32

Yes,I'm on pof as well.
So,we both have our dates tomorrow mamazon:-)
Well,we have to exchange our stories on Sunday then:-)
I had my outfit planned down to a t,lol, but know I actually think I'd be deepfrozen after 5 mins,so maybe I have to have a rethink!:-)
Yes,this guy has also only seen a few headshots of me,I have also only seen headhots of him,but I know he's one very tall guy(will need a ladder to look him in the eye, lol)
Starting to panic a bit know as the nerves are setting in!:-),how are you doing?

MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 19:26

absolutly terrified.
I still have no idea what to wear. i am currently thinking black cut off's with a gold and black patterned satin top. i wore it out a couple of weeks agao and a couple of people said it made me loko slimmer (i need all the help i can get)

I have spoken to this guy with webcams on for a little while so i have "seen" him and him me, but again its only really face and shoulders isn't it.
all my pics are recent but its just that i dont want him thinking he is meeting someone young and slim and beautifull and then i turn up lol

im normally quite confident but its times like this when all my insecureties come flooding out

OP posts:
lou33 · 15/02/2008 19:33

wear something you know you feel good in, and that isnt going to leave you too cold

and just treat it as a couple of hours away from the house, nothing to lose, and nothing to prove

have fun

ZippiBabes · 15/02/2008 19:35

lol you are beautiful and young can't comment on the other as i don't think i have seen a full pic and tbh im not sure if men want slim

MAMAZON · 15/02/2008 21:27

Its the cold bit that bothers me. i hate taking a coat as i feel a bit frumpy but otherwise i will freeze my backside off (if only)

zippi i knew i liked

OP posts:
lou33 · 15/02/2008 21:39

take a coat

blue skin is not attractive

tetti · 15/02/2008 22:44

You look great,so don't worry:-)
I know it's easier said than done tho.I just had a conversation with "my" internet guy, which really just made me feel more nervous as he said he won't be able to stop looking at me tomorrow, god, thank's for calming my nerves!lol
Def let us know how it goes,I'll fill you in on my little adventure as well mamazon:-)

Scramble · 15/02/2008 23:33

Sorry you got my attention because I thought you were having a date with someone who has a holy hairy bum crack LOL .

singledadofthree · 15/02/2008 23:40
