Father requesting for birth certificate

Flowerpot28 · 07/06/2022 18:43

I'm having some difficulty with my childs father and he's now randomly asked for childs birth certificate which he is on. Why would he want this ? I asked he didn't tell me

Does he want to apply for a passport?

Steelesauce · 07/06/2022 18:45

Just say no. If he really wants one he can apply and buy his own for a few quid.

bellac11 · 07/06/2022 18:46

He can just apply for one, he should have his own copy if he has PR

BiscoffSundae · 07/06/2022 18:46

Anyone can get a copy of a bc 🤷‍♀️

Oizys · 07/06/2022 18:46

Lots of resins I’m sure. I would think passport application is the most likely but can you ask? He can obtain a copy without you anyway so even if you refuse he’ll still be able to get one so best to know what and why he wants it.

Doyoumind · 07/06/2022 18:47

As PP said, it could be for a passport. Do you have a court order?

MintJulia · 07/06/2022 18:57

He could apply for a passport.

Is he a flight risk? Does he have links to another country? You might want to get a court order preventing him from taking your child out of the country without your permission.

BiscoffSundae · 07/06/2022 19:03

Parents already need permission to take a child out of the country if both have PR. Best to just apply for the passport first.

PeekAtYou · 07/06/2022 19:07

He can order his own copy. If he's difficult, it might be hard to get it back from him.

I think he's opening a bank account or ordering a passport

Flowerpot28 · 07/06/2022 19:35

I've already given him the birth certificate copy years ago I'm assuming he lost it. Our child has a passport so it couldn't be that :/

dementedpixie · 07/06/2022 19:40

Tell him to order his own copy then

bellac11 · 07/06/2022 19:49

Not sure what the mystery is in any case, he doesnt need a 'reason' for wanting a copy and he can order one himself. You should always have a few copies of your birth cert floating around in case you lose them.

oznia · 07/06/2022 20:22

Absolutely no reason for you to facilitate this request. He's an adult and can sort out getting his own copy if he wants one.

Flowerpot28 · 07/06/2022 20:49

He's up to something that's why I wanted to know. But yes I won't give him another one he can order it online

Bank account?

BiscoffSundae · 07/06/2022 20:55

If you already have the passport then he can’t be up to much, he’s the father why is it a problem if he has one?

Lizzieismagic · 07/06/2022 20:58

Could he be trying to claim benefits? And saying dc lives with him

.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 07/06/2022 20:59

Claim child benefit?

Flowerpot28 · 07/06/2022 21:34

@Lizzieismagic I think you're right that's exactly what he's trying to do. I think he's trying to get housing and then claim benefits

OP posts:
Flowerpot28 · 07/06/2022 21:36

@BiscoffSundae I'm not stopping him from having one as I said previously I've given him an extra before. I'm curious as to why randomly he's interested all of a sudden to have a birth certificate and giving me grief every time he picks up/drops our child home.

He seems to be building up some kind of case

Op start keeping receipts.. Of everything you spend on dc. Log any appointments you take them to also. Dr /dentist /barbers /receipts for after school clubs /hobbies they attend. You may need to show you are financially the main carer...
Or ring CB and say you have reason to believe he will make a counter claim. They are really good - when ds moved to me ft and ex was still claiming they stepped in when he tried to make a counter claim.. After they stopped his claim! Stupid twat!!

Flowerpot28 · 09/06/2022 11:22

@Lizzieismagic thank you so much for the heads up. I've contacted child benefit who said if he does make a claim they will suspend my payments until the investigation is done. I have proof of DC living with me and I purchase everything myself so the investigation wouldn't last very long.

Thank you

This

clpsmum · 11/06/2022 08:02

He would need birth certificates to raise court action is that a possibility?

RoseAndRose · 11/06/2022 08:04

As he had one and lost it, I think it's up to him to replace it.

You wouldn't expect him to replace one of your documents that you lost, would you?
