"So you think you can be a single parent?" 8pm. Some celeb is a single mum for a week, 3 kids I think. Could be good for a laugh if nothing else

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Alambil · 09/01/2008 19:46

Yeah I will be - still think they should do it for a couple of months at least but hey ho - no one in their right mind would choose it!!

nutcracker · 09/01/2008 19:52

I am, but I agree with Lewis, it's not really going to be a true representation of life as a single mum is it, as it's not long enough and won't show all of the ups and downs etc etc.

I am worried they might show it as being easier than it is.

stripeymama · 09/01/2008 19:53

Yes I will be.

Which sleb?

ScruffyTeddy · 09/01/2008 19:54

She was on gmtv this morning saying how much she loved it..ooh

Think it is Jane Middlemiss (sp?) first.

ScruffyTeddy · 09/01/2008 19:54

nutty, my sentiments exactly!

did you hear the bloke

"I hope Im not being snobby but when I hear single mum, I think mum to 4 kids by 4 different fathers on benefits"

gone off him already

mistressmiggins · 09/01/2008 20:06

hope they run him ragged.....she is a single mum of 2 who works

Alambil · 09/01/2008 20:09

Arsehole

you see - a week won't get them the looks/comments etc we put up with each and every day. It won't give them the screwed up money when the benefits office decides to not play ball.

I am worried they will show it easier than it really is - as only babysitting for a week would really; there is so much more to being a single parent than just keeping house and getting the kids to stop squabbling.

nutcracker · 09/01/2008 20:09

Totally agree Lewis.

mistressmiggins · 09/01/2008 20:10

quite - I have the same old conv at lunch with my collegues re going out & night courses and have to explain time & time again that EVERY time I want to go out, I need a babysitter

just annoys me

mistressmiggins · 09/01/2008 20:11

like having both children wanting to go to bed first & they cant cos I can only read to one at a time - thats not my fault and makes me sad for my DCs

Alambil · 09/01/2008 20:15

Oh I hate him already - "women mature earlier" - WTF has that got to do with ANYthing???!!!!! He is a complete arse

mistressmiggins · 09/01/2008 20:17

lets see how he manages

mistressmiggins · 09/01/2008 20:24

widower of 4 kids seems a lovely bloke
aaah

happynewme · 09/01/2008 20:29

its making me fill up with tears!!

just glad the program makers seem to have got a good representation of single parents ie. those that work, widowers etc.

nutcracker · 09/01/2008 20:45

So if the celebs are not staying there overnight, how do they get to experiance the , crying in the night, ill child in the night, etc etc ??

Alambil · 09/01/2008 20:50

They are - they had one night off, two days "training" and from tomorrow morning they are on their own - for 3 days

THREE DAYS?!!! How are they going to learn ANYthing?!

nutcracker · 09/01/2008 20:58

I might try that 'I've had enough, I want to go home'

TrinityRhinosDhWonHerAnIPOD · 09/01/2008 20:59

oh poo, I missed it
is it repeated?

nutcracker · 09/01/2008 20:59

I so identify with the mum of 3 who said that the loneliness is the hardest thing.

Alambil · 09/01/2008 21:02

yeah, me too; I was just thinking to myself earlier actually how I can change my evenings a bit. All I do is come home from school, have dinner, DS goes to bed at 6 3 or 7 and then it's just me and the pc/tv!! It is really boring after a while!

ScruffyTeddy · 09/01/2008 21:03

I didn't realise it was to be continued! So what do we think so far?

Nice to see its not the old stereotypical dirty bird in a dirty house with snot faced kids

I think so far so good, but can't wait to see next weeks. I think Rhona will not cope at all.
