Dd is 10 and an only by choice
More time, money, sanity
We had holidays where we not trying to make many kids happy at age varied activities, could do more things cos we had more cash. We spoil dd, by our admission but she is the first to help someone, lend something, think of others.

DD has our sole attention, we can move to an area better suited to her study wants, which is the plan and reason we moving state in future.
Mine and dp mental health wouldn't cope with more than 1.
I despised pregnancy and birth, newborn and toddler was horrid to me mentally. No way do i want to risk my body either. Dp has ptsd from truck driving which has its own challenges
No need for bigger house or car, though we have a 4x4 for our caravan and boat but dp still has his 180sx from when we first got together and we all fit in it. No chance with a 2nd kid.
I have a huge WWE merchandise collection, AFL too, a whole room worth, I refuse to give it up for a 2nd kids bedroom lol
We get home from relatives and dd comments how awesome the quiet is and how she would hate to have a screaming sibling
A 2nd simply wouldn't fit in our life

I have 3 but the eldest are teens and lo is 2, so it feels like he's an only dc a lot of the time. We can chill together, pop a film on have a cuddle, we are buddies ( yes I'm the parent) but it's so much easier than when the teens were younger.

Having two is not like having one,
It's sometimes feels like having 3!

I was an only child and I thought I wanted a sibling but in fact I'm happy I didn't.

But Op
Remember if a child is an only child or has siblings they can still grow up wishing for the opposite. I know loads of siblings who aren't close at all now and others who are best friends.
