My DC started school three weeks ago. I bought the school uniform including 7 shirts, 4 school jumpers, 5 pairs of trousers and umpteen school socks.

His dad has him one night a week and EOW and in such a short time due to him not returning stuff we're now down to three pairs of socks, two jumpers and two shirts and three pairs of trousers.

I cannot afford to buy more yet want to avoid communication with ex if possible as he's been so unpleasant in general. What do I do? Anyone else had this issue?

Talk to DS. Ask him about all the stuff that should be in your exH's home for him - bed, bedding, toothbrush, hairbrush/comb, pajamas, slippers, underwear, socks, clothes...

Thanks. I'll follow all this up. He says daddy never washes his hair. Ugh useless.

Hi @Hullabalooo.
My crap exh was incredibly mean, just the same.
One of the best things I did was make the eow contact into him pick up from school Fri night and him drop off Monday morning. No swapping of kit, one set of uniform moving between houses so he couldn't keep it all like he did before and the weekend clothes provided by him, stay with him.
After two years my eldest DC now gives him a hard time when her clothes are crap / don't fit etc.
Ultimately most wankers like this want to win, and be a better parent than you - let him carry on.
It's hard but rise above it. Your DC is safe.
