Evening all Grin

Saw one of these a while back and now I can't find, so I thought I'd start another

Let's all share the advantages

First one is star fishing in bed for me :)

Not to forget farting in bed.

(Not that I ever do, obviously!)

BuffyxSummers · 07/01/2014 21:03

Not having to compromise on parenting style with another parent in the home.

When things go right, knowing that it's because of you.

And I agree star fishing!

Wallison · 07/01/2014 21:08

Making all the decisions. I run things and they are not open to discussion. I do talk to friends and family about stuff, so I don't feel completely 'alone', and their ideas help. But in the end what happens is up to me, and I really like it that way.

No picking up another person's dirty undercrackers.

Being able to devote all of my 'home' headspace to my son.

Watching what I want on telly. All the time.

No drama. There was a lot of that with the ex, and it was exhausting.

Snugglesrock · 07/01/2014 21:33

Hehe this is exactly what I'd hoped for

Oh yes the smelly pants n socks that never make it to the laundry basket Shock yuk

What is star fishing?

Em... for me I like everything about not living with my ex anymore! It was draining and awful. I quite like getting into bed at night by myself. The privacy and peace. Ahh!

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 07/01/2014 22:14

What is the introverted threat? Ps If the other thread was called 'Being a lone parent is great!' It was me that started it. Some people thought the title was sarcastic :-) But hey, new year, new attitude so glad of this new thread :-)

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 07/01/2014 22:15

I always stick to one side of the bed too!! :-)

Snugglesrock · 07/01/2014 22:24

Yay thanks snoopy
Anything to raise a smile in my book

I mentioned the introverted thread when you said about peace n quiet. Forgive me I've just realised I quite like my own company etc and found that thread and can relate. It's in other subjects. It's an interesting read

being able to get dressed with the light on in the morning, being able to lie in bed at weekends and put TV on for dcs whilst I snooze, cheaper food shopping by a long way! not having to moan about ex getting out of bed, not having to use energy up trying to save a relationship ...I could go on Smile

Minime85 · 07/01/2014 22:31

leaving the dishwasher wrapper on top of the dishwasher and not getting moaned at about it...

Ihavemyownname · 07/01/2014 22:32

Getting to eat all the cake Blush
not having to share the sofa

McPheezingMyButtOff · 07/01/2014 22:36

Not financially bailing his lazy arse out all the time.

Not stinking his fag breath

Knowing that my Dd is fabulous and bright because of me Smile

Back2Basics · 07/01/2014 22:36

Being able to put the snooze button on and set as many alarms as I want.,

Being able to eat crap and not cook proper dinner,

no stress

no crying

no manchild sulking

peace

singing along to my music

being able to MN/FB/chat with friends without being moaned at

lizzie479 · 07/01/2014 23:14

No having to choose darker shades for bed sheets due to his skidmarks frequently appearing, yuk! No having to see his skidmarks on underpants...really bad ones too. No having to put up with the awful moods from his frequent attempts to stop smoking. Not having my cooking criticised or being scolded like a child. No double standards. No being taken for granted. No resentment. No doubt or suspicion. No constant trips to the drs with stress related illnesses. Demanding respect and looking forward to an equal relationship where I am much wiser to my own faults and what to look for...but in the meantime enjoying a nights sleep with one less disturbance...his snoring~!

BuffyxSummers · 08/01/2014 00:02

Good god lizzie! Skidmarks on bed sheets Shock

Snugglesrock · 08/01/2014 17:50

Shock At skid marks but oh yes we are so better off by the sounds of it eh?

OP posts:
Wallison · 08/01/2014 21:06

Erk at skidmarks on the sheets!

Back2Basics, I too am glad to no longer have to deal with a sulky manchild. I cannot abide sulking.

Travelledtheworld · 09/01/2014 05:10

Watching stuff on my iPad in bed.

FramboiseCoulis · 09/01/2014 22:13

Not having to put up with the Inlaws, hallellujah!

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 09/01/2014 22:17

Ah framboise that one is worth remembering!

BornToFolk · 09/01/2014 22:26

Not having to share the laptop of an evening (meaning I can spend a lot of time watching Cumberpatch youtube clips...)

yy to cheaper food shopping. I never realised how much exP ate until he left and the food bills halved.

Being able to make mistakes and not stress about anyone else's reaction.

Best of all, lie ins with DS at the weekend. exP never liked him coming into bed with us but now every weekend, DS comes and has a snuggle with me, plays on my ipod while I doze and then we read together or chat until we can be bothered to get up!

I also agree with putting up with the in-laws. Not that mine were that bad but it is nice not to have to do the "duty" visit on a Sunday afternoon.

sandiy · 09/01/2014 22:35

No mans shits in the ensuite.Seriously use the flipping loo brush.
No financial insecurity,I know how much I've got and budget appropriately.
Being able to eat out with the children in a timely manner we are at a beefeater not a Michelin starred gastro pub you do not need 20 fucking minutes to read the menu, while the children are verging on hysteria with hunger.
Egg/beans on toast can be and often is dinner yummy.
No mother in law.
No silent unacknowledged bad temper
Even better no screaming at the children.
Crazy spontaneous trips out, be it surfing, BBQ,or a trip to the car boot sale it's never planned like a trip to the Antarctic we just go.
I can buy clothes for myself again and wear them without the third degree,or being made to feel self conscious
No one except the children asking me what today's plan is.FFS you're grown up make your own plans for once.
Sorry about this I'm stopping now but I could go on for ever.
