Hey all.

Hope no-one minds me stating a new thread for a general chat. I'm hoping the boards pick up a bit as it does seem to be a bit slow!

What's everyone upto this weekend?

I'm picking up my baby pram from the shop, seeing my brother and finishing a few work deadlines before I hit mat leave.

Anyone doing anything interesting they wish to share?

Vx

Well I've just finished work. DD is at her dads til Sunday so I'm off to meet my brother at the pub and then have a chinese.

Not very interesting but that's about as interesting as my life is at the moment.

crazymoon · 15/04/2011 18:23

Wasting time on here, thinking i should do some housework while DS is having a way too late in the day nap, thinking maybe i should put him to bed now and cross my fingers he sleeps through.

Going to a birthday party tomorrow, but thinking what am i going to do for the next few days with other two at dads. And not much money to get away. And most friends having family time. Can get lonely. Let's hope the sun is out that way we can just spend time at the beach :) talking to whoever we see!!!

Dull, dull, dull - but hey it's an answer :)

Meriva · 15/04/2011 20:23

well i've decided to try a dating site, can't do any harm so sitting here trying to decide what to write on my profile - so hard lol

jamestkirk · 15/04/2011 23:09

can i join in?

ive taken a long weekend off to build and fit a new engine in a car ive been restoring for the last year or so. has taken way too long but is now booked in for an mot next week and the car is only half builtHmm. i do tend to leave things til last minute.

oh meriva - any tips would be welcome - i'm a bloke btw - and would have no idea what to do on a dating site...or a date come to that:o

FeelingOld · 16/04/2011 09:44

Hello all

Well after what has seemed a very long week at work its housework and gardening (loathe emotion) for me this weekend and running the kids round to various things.

I am going for an Indian meal tonight with a friend which I am looking forward to, be nice to get some adult conversation cos i work with kids all week.

Wos Jamestkirk, you better get your skates on and get on with that car :)

TheOriginalNutcracker · 16/04/2011 09:47

I am trying to decide between sorting out the back garden, or sorting out ds's tip of a room. Neither idea thrills me lol.

FeelingOld · 16/04/2011 10:05

TheOriginalNutcracker - I have a similar dilemna, ds bedroom is really small and it needs a mega clearout, but it does seem a shame to be stuck inside on such a lovely day.

TheOriginalNutcracker · 16/04/2011 10:34

Yes I was thinking the same fellingold. I think I will do the garden today whilst it is nice.

Not actually sure where to start in ds's room anyway.

blackeyedsusan · 16/04/2011 14:21

i am wasting time on mumsnet drinking coffee trying to think of a way out of supervising a tricky craft project and swapping it for something dd can get on with herself because i am so bloody tired after staying up late mning trying to calm down after supervising h with the children. Breathe.

I ought to be getting on iwth getting paperwork organised and trying to organise myself into deciding whether we are separate or together apart... and wishing it would all just go away...

VioletV · 16/04/2011 21:40

Evening all. Sorry, been here, there and everywhere today. I very stupidly blew a fuse in my car by sticking tweezers in the cig lighter to remove 1p oops! Lucky the men in halfords helped fix it. I was going to send it to the garage....

I'm in two minds about dating sites (although I can't even think about dates while still pg) I'd be interested in how you guys get on with it. What sites are you thinking about joining?

Started potty training 2.7yo DD today. So far it's not been too bad, only 4 accidents and she was on the way to the toilet each time.

Apart from that, eating choc bics, pottering about and trying to keep the dc's under control.

jamestkirk · 17/04/2011 00:11

like the sound of a meal out feeling old, hope the food was good - has been a long day here. the engine is built at last and ready to fit tomorrow - then just have to get the thing running and put the rest of car together - piece of cake:o - tho three days doesnt sound long.

FeelingOld · 17/04/2011 08:48

jamestkirk - food was lovely, i had chicken bhuna and it was yummmmmy, had a couple of lagers (halves not pints!!) to wash it down and had a good chat and was a lovely evening thanks.
Back to reality now though so while you are building your car I will be cutting the grass (groan emotion) and weeding.

jamestkirk · 17/04/2011 23:56

mmm chicken bhuna would be good right now. just got in after another long day and had to miss tea so i could get the car fit to bring home - have kept it at work for the past year but now its sat on the drive [proud nerdy emotion].
wouldnt have minded a bit of mowing today and i'm a gardener among other things by trade - would have to pass on weeding tho, have had far too much practice at that. at least you can sit back and admire your handywork - and it must be about barby time :o

manticlimactic · 18/04/2011 08:05

I joined a dating site years ago. Have had sporadic dates but my opinion is they're full of weirdos (or I'm too damn fussy!). Had a message at the weekend from someone who works at the same place as me, it's a big place so I don't think he recognises me so maybe I look totally different in my pics. Either that or I look awful at work, I was stood next to him in lepers corner at work on Friday and he hasn't replied to my message that I sent back, so maybe he did.

Work for me this morning then I've got to do something this afternoon but can't remember for the life of me what it is.

FeelingOld · 18/04/2011 08:24

jamestkirk - well done on getting your car sorted, bet you keep looking out the window to make sure you wasnt dreaming that you have finally got it sat on your driveway.

Weekend went so quick, so its back to work today Sad but at least its only a 4 day week this week Smile

VioletV · 18/04/2011 10:24

FeelingOld I hear you on that one. I've been in the ofice since 7.30 and I won;t get home until at least 19.00 (I have a scan this evening) Although don't feel too bad for me. After tomorrow I have a week off (yeahhhhh!)

For thise who work what do you all do? I'm an account manager for a large firm in the city. Well I am for now until I go on mat leave!

manticlimactic You didn't want to date him anyways!

Jameskirk what car engine did you build?

Yes its very hands on VioletV, very hard work .......today we have played cricket (little blighters caught me out twice Smile), been on swings and slides at the park, played football, made easter baskets and had an easter egg hunt to fill them, had songtime and played every musical instrument the kids could lay their hands on, made bread rolls and finally the kids flopped out on the bean bags infront of the tv at 4.30 for the last half hour before they went home.... i am exhausted but i love my job.

How long til you go on maternity leave?
Hope the weather forecasters have got it right for you and that you get some lovely sunshine.

IsElmoMaleorFemale · 18/04/2011 21:24

That was all in one day FeelingOld? I take my hat off to you!!!

manticlimactic · 18/04/2011 22:14

God no violet I certainly don't want to date him. Just thought it was amusing to mail him back as his message was rather generic and wasn't sure if he did recognise me but now I know he didn't after another mail. I'm wondering if I should tell him who I am.

I'm having an early night tonight. I'm off to Bootcamp tomorrow night to kick start my fitness. You may never see me again Blush

jamestkirk · 18/04/2011 23:49

wow feelingold - you look after that many kids Shockive found three to be quite enough! will stick with my job i think. i work at a country house as estate manager(gofer) - tho i'm only at work on thursday this week:o, my boss kept saying how i never take time off, so i have, to get my car done.
and violet - the engine is an old ford xflow, simple but very fast:o is going in my restored xr2 offve the 80's. will try and start it in the morning as its about ready to go but will be so loud - hopefully most of the neighbours will be out:o

FeelingOld · 19/04/2011 08:26

IsElmoMaleorFemale- yup thats all in one day, when you got school age kids you have to keep them amused. Today we will go to the park again and play some games, then we making easter cakes, need to make get well cards for a poorly mindee and we going to plant some seeds....am sure we will find some more things to do, thats just what i got planned Grin

JamesTKirk - Good luck with starting your car and you must like your neighbours if you gonna wait til they gone to work to start it up Grin

jamestkirk · 19/04/2011 23:46
