Do you have a double or single bed?

Sorry if this is a bit personal but i am going to be buying a new bed once i've moved and was thinking,do i buy a double or single?

I have absolutely no intention of living with anyone again (other than my kids and my dog)maybe i don't need a double?

But i am used to the space,my dog snuggles on the bed with me,hmm.....ideas?

I have a double.

Dp died last year and I have no immediate plans for sharing it with anybody.

tis great to be able to have the bed all to myself, bliss.

(In the mornings two other small occupants tend to join me and we have big cuddles:))

Get a double :)

refmum · 20/03/2011 14:37

Get a double. Kids are always coming in in the mornings or share with me if they are ill. As well as 2 dogs lol!

MavisEnderby · 20/03/2011 14:40

:)

Weekend cuddles are the best.We have breakfast in bed (choc chip brioche, yum) and chill out watching cartoons:)Double bed VERY useful!

Jellykat · 20/03/2011 14:51

Double! One of the perks of being single is you can impersonate a starfish in bed..there's just not enough room in a single Smile

Hatesponge · 20/03/2011 14:56

Double definitely - enjoy the space :)

If your budget will stretch to it, get a memory foam mattress as well, you won't regret it (according to my friends that is, I'm still waiting to get mine!)

refmum · 20/03/2011 15:17

yes,my mum said i must get a memory foam matress (after sleeping at mine and waking up with actual bruises on her hips..sorry mum!)Blush

Having a double bed is a lovely thing! Now I have a dp over sometimes I want a king-size...

DollyTwat · 20/03/2011 17:16

My son has a memory foam mattress and it is very comfy, but, very hot and a bit sweaty

Jellykat · 20/03/2011 17:30

Aah, i wandered about that Dolly (i need a new mattress) a bit of a no-no if you're perimenopausal then.. night sweats, hot flushes and a foam mattress - possible recipe for spontaneous combustion?

colditz · 20/03/2011 17:33

You must get a double.

blackeyedsusan · 20/03/2011 17:44

Double.. for all those little visitors that waander along the landing...

brightwell · 20/03/2011 18:02

I have a king size, great for me & dc to snuggle up a watch tv. also good when one of dc is ill & wants to sleep in with me. And it's the one that guests use when they come to stay.

ChaoticAngelofAnarchy · 20/03/2011 20:12

Definitely a double :)

ChasingSquirrels · 20/03/2011 20:43

oh double definitely, in fact when I replace mine I am getting a king size.

refmum · 20/03/2011 20:49

double it will be Grin

Double, definitely - a single is like admitting defeat Grin

There's nothing like the feeling of stretching out in a double bed, though. I have loads of cushions and a beautiful bedspread and love spending the morning propped up with a cup of tea, a good book and room to stretch! Plus there's room for ds, too!

refmum · 20/03/2011 20:53

yes,i'd be a bit like aunty mabel on that programme come outside, she has a single bed!! (actually really like the programme!)

stapletoes · 20/03/2011 21:53

Oh dear, I'm clearly going against the tide! I chose a single bed for my room when I moved - I have a hobby which demands lots of space and I was pleased to have extra room for that instead of a big bed cluttering up the room. I'm quite petite so I'm not bothered about sprawling out, I find a single bed is easily big enough for me (and even for DS to join me as he is small too).

It hasn't meant admitting defeat for me, I've had lots of flings and relationships but generally prefer to stay over at theirs anyway. Means I don't have to worry about tidying up when they come over and getting my sheets messed up Grin.

boxingHelena · 20/03/2011 23:37

I have always had a double but next one I want one of those Queen size (130/140cm) still comfy for 2...if needed, and more available floor space
also i like the design/proportion better
