I might be interested. If we don't get any campers wanting to come I'd prefer to choose the cheaper pontins option though for the same dates which is around £100 cheaper.

Would be me and ds (yr 7). Am also non smoker but, as I'd prefer my own caravan/chalet, not to relevant.
Am thinking the smoking thing probably matters more if you plan on sharing...

However if more people are planning to go in may half term I might pick that instead as we are already booked for a week away at the end of summer hols. Also rather depends on whether I get mnade redundant next week or not Confused

BringOnTheGoat · 23/01/2011 19:26

Hi - I'm interested in the camber sands august or may half term Smile

BradTittAndFlange · 23/01/2011 19:36

iwillmakeit · 23/01/2011 19:41

Yes me! Ds7 & 5, dd will be 3 then. Said before dont mind sharing if anyone mad/brave enough!

Prob cant do may half term.

Am a non smoker.

Fingers crossed for you gilly x

Will keep checking in to see how we are going.

BringOnTheGoat · 23/01/2011 19:44

DD is 15 months today Smile

I am a smoker but only with drinks in the eve or at times of stress.

I never smoke around DD or inside - not that you can now anyway!

BringOnTheGoat · 23/01/2011 19:45

p.s Good luck gilly

ensure · 23/01/2011 19:45

Don't go to pontins, it is truly horrid!
Sorry to butt in, I saw this on active threads and had to come check if you mentioned pontins, then warn you!

BradTittAndFlange · 23/01/2011 19:47

Ensure, thanks for the heads up, what is the problem with Pontins? You normally get what you pay for with this type of thing.

only thing im intrested in as long as theres a pool rest im easy

gillybean2 · 23/01/2011 20:02

Ensure - I know someone who has been to that pontins and has booked to go back twice more this year. Can you give us a heads up if it's pontins generally you don't like or this one in particular? And why?

I have stayed in several different kinds of caravan/cheap places like this, and yes you get what you pay for but it tends to be of an acceptable standard for somethign you are using as a base.
I don't think any of us would be expecting the ritz and I for one and going for company for ds and myself and the fab beach there more than anything else...

ensure · 23/01/2011 20:07

I've been on a lot of cheap holidays- and always been perfectly happy, but Pontins we left, we couldn't stay it was all so filthy. Horrid.

Read some reviews, we only looked after we got back but wished we had before, honestly I am not fussy but I wouldn't wish that place on my worst enemies.

BradTittAndFlange · 23/01/2011 20:11

ensure, thank you so much for the heads up, Pontins out the door then.

That one in particular in Camber Sands! Maybe they have a bad half and a good half? I wouldn't risk ending up in the bad half though.

dobiegirl · 23/01/2011 20:19

I can back up ensure on the pontins thing -disgraceful - we didn't even stay for one night, as I said on the other thread, I'll go anywhere except PONTINS!!!

For those unbelievers please check out the reviews on tripadvisor of what people think of pontins!!!

There is a total smell of socks, cocks and nether regions EVERYWHERE!!

goingroundthebend4 · 23/01/2011 20:21

mind you read reviews some said ok some not .Though cobwebs ok , mould not so good

goingroundthebend4 · 23/01/2011 20:23

TmiEdward · 23/01/2011 20:29

I'm localish to Camber, and would say the area is nice to stay in but Pontins does have a bit of a reputation around here.
I think it has improved recently, but mud sticks eh?

BradTittAndFlange · 23/01/2011 20:31

Thank you for the information.

Frenchmans Beach in Rye Harbour or Winchelsea Sands in Winchelsea Beach are nearby caravan holiday parks.

Rye Harbour has a nature reserve and pebble beach, Winchelsea is also a pebble beach and 4 miles from Rye.
Probably more expensive than Pontins, but obviously better than rats and mould!

Also a few caravan/chalet places in Hastings.
Coghurst Hall
Shearbarn
Combe Haven

Hope this helps!

goingroundthebend4 · 23/01/2011 20:59

4 nights combe haven going on 1st iscoming in at £540 for 2 bed standard

Coghurst comes in at at very resonable 425 for a silver 2 bed frenchmans and winchelsea sands seem come in around samme as same company

Shearbarn well lol dont think there let me and mine through the door
