Each year it sucks that little bit more.

Xp made xmas crap, so being alone is preferable to that, but 5th xmas alone is shitty in it's own lovely way lol.

3rd for me. But I have a houseful this year as my mum has just died and we all used to go to visit her. Funeral tomorrow Sad

whiteandnerdy · 21/12/2010 01:41

Erm, think this is 9th but not sure, I can just remember back to spending Christmas at the ExP parents, my goodness was it stressfull. I'll have the kids from 27th till school starts, it's just me on my own and I'm not at all religious so I don't mind doing Christmas II (the return of Santa). Should be good, plus maybe Tron Legacy at the IMAX.

SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 21/12/2010 09:49

Things are looking up for me! The Ebay parcel i was waiting for arrived finally this morning. Just need to test it later then hopefully Christmas will now be a good one. I know DC are going to be happy with their pressies!

3rd Xmas as a single.. 1st one that'll be JUST me and the boys.. very mixed feelings about it..

BUT I won't have the ex here, I WON'T feel like I'm intruding on his time with the kids.. and I WOn'T have the hour long HELL that was his new missus comingto see the kids when she dropped him off last year - we're on friendly enough terms, but bejaysus that was EXCRUTIATING and pretty much set the tone for the day..

on the plus side - the ex has ALWAYS buggered off after Dr Who,so I'm used to being on my billy once the kids are in bed... last year I sat watching bad TV, weearng a crocheted beard my friend made me and drinking Gin..

cestlavielife · 21/12/2010 10:44

sorri to hear that elastaelf, hope funeral goes ok (given weather conditions and all)

charlieliz · 21/12/2010 11:41

12 years for me - better than the previous 9 with the ex! I find xmas and NYE equally awful to be honest, but the one year he had them was dreadful - especially since they ended up in a Travelodge as there were no spare beds at his parents! Never again.

SmokinSanta · 21/12/2010 11:57

This is my 2nd. I am actually really excited as the kids are 4 and 2 and really into Christmas this year. Wine and MN on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day night I'm not sure. Its the first that they are staying at their Dads - but at least that means I can get hammered/go out/go to bed and not be forced into staying in sober with them.

SmokinSanta · 21/12/2010 11:58

elastaelf, really hope the funeral goes ok and thinking of you. cant imagine being without my mum, especially at christmas Sad

gettingeasier · 21/12/2010 17:06

My first and I have chickened out and invited us to my best friends Grinit will be busy and happy and the dc will love it.

Well thats the plan

Solo2 · 21/12/2010 18:18

This will be my 18th and I can't even imagine a life partnered anymore. Happy to be just me and my twins (solo mum by choice 10 yrs ago now), able to choose exactly what we eat and what we do all Xmas....bliss......Grin

UnlikelyCrackerzonian · 22/12/2010 18:29

Howe many times have you had a shag had intimacy in those 18 years solo?

TheOriginalNutcracker · 23/12/2010 22:04

happygolucky0 · 23/12/2010 22:27

10th for me. Christmas night is the worse for me think maybe its probably because its the only time i might drink in the day. Then by the evening i dont have anything to do. Post makes me sound like a alcholic honest i am not!! What do the rest of you do on Christmas evening?

SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 23/12/2010 22:32

Not great Nutty to be honest. PS3 turned up but worked for 5mins then cut out with a new game in it that i bought for ds1. very Angry with Ebay seller! Have to work out how/when to tell Ds1 that he has no main present at the moment and spoil the big surprise. Sad

Food etc all bought and tomorrow night will be spent preparing it for Christmas day. Can't believe tomorrow is Christmas eve already!

elastaelf · 23/12/2010 22:34

Hi All, Thanks for your wishes. Funeral went OK and am now home planning christmas. All feels a little strange

Baileysnicecubes · 23/12/2010 22:37

Alone at the moment, ds has been at his dads since yesterday, just finished wrapping up the presents...cannot wait until i collect him xmas eve, i mean, i suppose i wouldnt be feeling this shitty if i had a partner or even a campanion to share a bottle of wine. All my friends are busy doing their family things with partners and the rest of it. Still....im having a glass of baileys now..cheers to all Xmas Smile

TheOriginalNutcracker · 23/12/2010 22:38

Sorry elastaelf, missed that bit before. I hope you have a lovely xmas, as I am sure your mum would want that too Smile

Tortoise, that is terrible. Has it got the ring of death thingy ??

OP posts:
SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 23/12/2010 22:40

I have a few presents to wrap, will do them tomorrow i think.
Dreading Boxing day and Monday a bit because Ds1 and Ds2 are going to their dads. Will still have DD1 and DD2 at home so will make the most of time with them. Just wish they were all together on Boxing day too.

SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 23/12/2010 22:41

Nutty Think it has either yellow light of death or red. Sad

TheOriginalNutcracker · 23/12/2010 22:42

Ohhhh not heard of the yellow light !

How shitty of the ebayer seller though Sad

Happy Christmas everyone. Hope the evening has gone ok and you all have a good day tomorrow.X

aristomache · 25/12/2010 01:26

5th alone for me, and it's only been the past 2 years where I've actually enjoyed it.

I made sure I was organised, so I didn't have that last minute push all by myself (that is when I start feeling sorry for myself and feeling bitter about all my friends/family having husbands or partners to help them) and also if I have started to get down, pulled myself out of it pretty damn quick as I know it wouldn't be fair on the kids.

Anyway I'm looking forward to tomorrow, just me and the kids - nobody causing rows or making me feel angry it's going to be lovely!!

Hope everyone has a great day, Merry christmas!! xx
