I think you need a wife

ComeOVeneer · 06/01/2009 13:45

DD was vaccinated against chicken pox when we lived in Chicago as it is part of the pre school vaccination programme so once he is better we are done and dusted with it.

sfxmum · 06/01/2009 13:59

ca I just ask about LO's bedding please? what tog duvet do you use and do you go for layers?

Hello!

Just setting exams ... All this security business is just making it all very difficult.

sfx - we have 4.5 tog cotbed duvet for cot (too big too hot - DS2 usually bathing in sweat if he is under it even in this weather but more often than not lies on top of it exposing his tummy) and 10.5 single duvet for DS1 which is just right.

Must set off home now. Down with school runs.

They have 12 tog and one of those microwavable cuddly toys with lavender scented beanbag thingies.

sfxmum · 06/01/2009 14:21

think dd might need a warmer duvet thanks

ComeOVeneer · 06/01/2009 15:00

BTW I have adde some of my cakes onto my profile if anyone cares to have a look

SushiMummy · 06/01/2009 15:23

just following up sfx query, how does one keep LOs under duvet/blanket at night? My DS never sleeps under the duvet (4.5 tog, I think) cue crying at about 4 am every fecking night as he gets too cold. My mum is making a cape thingie for DS but I doubt he will ever wear it.

sfxmum · 06/01/2009 15:34

cov as ever they look amazing am particularly fond of the Halloween cupcakes and the charity lot too looks fabulous did you draw the face?

sushi dd is similar I do so miss the days of sleeping bags she was definitely reasonably warmer for most of the night
I usually get Mummy I am cold sometime around 4am

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 06/01/2009 15:40

socks, people SOCKS! Put them to bed in socks and an extra tshirt underneath PJ's then it doesn't matter so much if they throw covers off.

sfxmum · 06/01/2009 15:43

that might be my prejudice I can't stand socks in bed or socks most of the time anyway, should probably try it she does wear a vest under the pyjamas

ComeOVeneer · 06/01/2009 15:43

Trying to make a point Kew?

SFX the mask is handpainted with edible paint on sugar paste, everything on all the cakes is edible.

rosmerta · 06/01/2009 15:43

We tuck ds's duvet under the mattress, not too tightly so he can still move, & he's not kicked it off yet. Plus socks & vest as Kew said

ComeOVeneer · 06/01/2009 15:44

sfx t her age you can still get all in one pj's with feet, dd had a pair until she was 5 for very cold nights.

sfxmum · 06/01/2009 15:47

thanks for suggestions not sure what she would actually wear will try socks tonight I think

SushiMummy · 06/01/2009 15:54

wearing socks in bed is considered to bring bad luck in Japan , not that I care but something I seldom do myself. I will try tonight, tho. Thanks, QC.

DS hates wearing more than one layer of clothes at home, he quite happily goes to bed with no clothes on given a chance. If I put extra shirt on while he's asleep, DS wakes up v grumpy thus takes even more time to get ready for nursery...

ComeOVeneer · 06/01/2009 15:57

these or these

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 06/01/2009 16:01

other option is to do what I do and just leave the heating on very low - not very eco freindkly but as long as you only do it ion the coldest of night (ie below zero) I think its manageable.

I can;t imagine how most sperstitions start off but often have an element of danger (ie walking under a ladder) but wearing socks in bed is a new one on me!

sfxmum · 06/01/2009 16:05

our heating is on thermostat so if it falls below a certain mark it will come back on
always a point of contention with dh who would gladly roast and wants the warmest duvet ever, it is always too warm for me

thanks for links

SushiMummy · 06/01/2009 16:11

Yes, that might be a solution, set up the CH to come on at 4 for about an hour! What a brilliant idea! [Sushi ignores eco-friendliness bit]

Had no idea where the wearing socks=bad luck comes from, maybe just my family thing.[off to google]

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 06/01/2009 16:25

Agree with Cov re pyjamas avec feet

Mothercare do lovely fleece all in one pyjamas, with zip up front for ages up to about 7. Both DD and the Fat Toddler wear them (DD is a tall 5.6yrs) - I swear by them

The Fat Toddler crawls all over the bed during the night and if he gets cold he just sits up and rearranges the duvet so it covers him again. He likes him comforts [frgin]

ComeOVeneer · 06/01/2009 17:04

So what is the story behind the no socks in bed in Japan? [curious emoticon]

More opinions on the cakes pretty please. Also how much would you expect to pay for them (still need to figure out my pricing list)

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 06/01/2009 17:11

Mmmmm - just had MN themed delicious lentil soup - very warming

slng · 06/01/2009 18:00

cov - do you do/know of gluten-free dairy-free cakes?
