Hello!

Its a picnic, on Mon 21st July - but to raise awareness of the government's intention to pass a very odd law regarding breastfeeding.

You dont need to be bf to come - just supportive of a babys right to have food when its hungry!

there are lots of picnics being organised all over the country by mumsnetters

have a look at this website - which makes things a lot clearer than i can!

protect my baby, protect me

So - its NOT a protest, just a picnic, but i will invite the local papers and issue a press release (the same as the other groups)

im scared. will it just be me and DS and a limp sandwich???

Hi everyone! I havent been around as DS has been in hospital . He's back out and running around like a loon again so nothing to worry about - he seems to have problems with his breathing evgery time he has a high temp. Anyhoo,

With lotus and jently that makes 12 (plus assorted small people). MLP you are SO welcome but look after yourself woman! This is the last time ever you will have to put your feet up, read a mag and drink a cup of tea while its still hot!

I was thinking of being really original and holding it in castle park at 1pm-3pm. Not sure where exactly, we need somewhere with a bit of shade i suppose - how about under those huge trees near the bandstand? I need to ask the police for permission first though.

Thankyou everyone for your support!

Bless you hun - this is most definately true!!

I no longer have ankles - just sexy cankles PMSL!

I really hope it all goes well though & will be with you in spirit

Sorry to hear DS has been in hospital But glad to hear he's running around like a loon!

Kiddies really can scare you can't they - limp as a lettuce & running a temp one minute & leaping off the furniture the next!!

Xx

Dynamicnanny · 04/07/2008 17:56

Hi Pooter - sorry DS has been poorly.

Will def make the picnic but will only be bale to come 1.30 - 2.30 due to school runs - let us know if location changes.

See you there

JentlyDoesIt · 04/07/2008 19:50

Ok, sounds like a plan, I can get DS after his lunch and come straight over (eeny - I can meet you at the bus station if you like?)

Sorry to hear DS has been poorly again. It is really scary isn't it. DS has been limp and had a temp for a couple of days, think the final 4 teeth are on the way, then today he fell down the stairs and has really damaged his nose and lips (heavy bruising only thank goodness)

LMK if the location changes and what I can bring...

pooter · 07/07/2008 01:23

Update - i have asked the police for permission! Hope they say 'yes' otherwise we're scuppered.

I have also perfected the art of fairycake making!! This batch were at least a 'c' cup and very yummy!

So - tell your friends, Monday 21st July, bring your own picnic to the park by bandstand, fairycakes for all! oh, and i should mention that we are picnicing for a law similar to the one in Scotland, whereby it is illegal to harass a mother feeding her baby (either BF or FF). What we dont want is the part of the forthcoming bill that will make it legal to BF your baby in public (if its under 6mo). ITS ALREADY LEGAL YOU LOONS!! (not you lovely MNers - im talking to 'the man' (have you seen School of Rock)

ok. its late. im rambling.

Hey hun,

Just asked DH (he's a copper) he said should be no probs at all - he says it's more that you need to notify them rather then ask their permission just so they're aware IYKWIM?

XxXx

becklespeckle · 07/07/2008 23:11

Going to have to bow out ladies, there is no way I would be able to get home to pick the older DCs up from school (tis about a 30 min drive), really hope it goes well though (and glad your little man is feeling better Pooter) x

pooter · 11/07/2008 12:11

Thanks becklespeckle - and you can be with us eating fairycakes in spirit!

Ive spoken to the colchester le leche league today and i think a few more people are going to come!! Im getting a bit over excited now and am going to print some t-shirts up (only a couple - i wont make anyone wear them!)

So just to remind everyone - 21st July, bandstand, 1-3pm bring your own picnic! Please come!!

the tshirts have arrived and look COOOOOOL! Ive only done 6 as it was getting a bit pricey - three adult and three toddler ones.

ive invited bob russell MP but he cant come as hes in parliament, but he said hed try to go to the one in parliament square.

Also done a press release for the local papers and bbc look east - so make sure you all look beautiful - but hard as nails "dont mess with us mothers!!"

im beginning to think it wont be a disaster!

Twinkie1 · 17/07/2008 06:47

Will try and get there Pooter - although I won't be breastfeeding I am afraid - DS would tell me to put my boobies away! Just got to wait and see when my new furniture is comig but they said they will ring and give me a 4 hour time slot so I am hoping it is first thing or later in the afternoon.

pooter · 17/07/2008 13:20

oh that would be brill twinkie!

eenybeeny · 17/07/2008 13:32

it will be great pooter! (very strange calling you that as I am used to using your real name now!)

DH and DS and I will be there with bells on and the whole day will do you proud! You are doing a great job!

sophierosie · 17/07/2008 14:11

Hopefully I'll be able to make it too!

JentlyDoesIt · 17/07/2008 19:00

We will definitely be there too (though I am quite worried about looking beautiful, I generally just look sick stained at the moment ) really looking forward to it!

I will almost certainly be able to provide a breastfeeding example with DD too...

Can I be cheeky and ask if DS may have one of the toddler t shirts? I am more than willing to give you the money for it!

Can I do any baking for you?

Mung · 18/07/2008 08:41

Hi. Sorry Pooter, but I wont be able to make it on Monday. I am giving a lesson at 2 ( for some reason I thought it was in the morning)>

Hope all goes well and I'll see you soon.

Mung · 18/07/2008 08:42

Oh BTW,,,I mentioned it to a friend of mine who has recently had a baby and she has told all her NCT friends....not sure if they will turn up though.

pooter · 18/07/2008 21:23

C'est ne pas une probleme Mung. Votre travaille est tres important.

please dont correct that in red type!! Thanks for spreading the word.

Sorry Jently, they are all spoken for . If you could manage a batch of fairycakes i would be v. grateful, but please dont go out of your way - i know when DS was as young as your DD, i was in no fit state for anything - and you have your DS to look after too [admiring smiley]

Mung · 18/07/2008 21:27

Blimey...you were very formal.
Went to Chelmsford HE group on Thursday...nice bunch of people, you should come along next month.

pooter · 18/07/2008 21:29

Was i???
ooh good - you'll have to tell me about it. I got a message from a lady in chelmsford from the website 'slingmeet' who organises meetings for home edders in chelmsford - probably the same one! Yep - do you know the date of the next one so i can come?

OP posts:
Mung · 18/07/2008 21:33

Will email you...if I still have your new address.

Mung · 18/07/2008 21:34

Nope...only have old one. Its monthly, so we've got a while...

JentlyDoesIt · 19/07/2008 09:00

No problem Pooter, knocked up a batch of fairycakes and 2 loads of cookies last night for DS's nursery fun day today so will be more than willing to do the fairy cakes again tomorrow evening. I suppose I can forego seeing the delectable Mr Clarkson on telly for such a good cause

Just call me Nigella...

MrsMagooo · 19/07/2008 09:11

Hamster does it for me

I'm gutted at the thought of missing out on all these scrummy cakes - be with you in spirit though - hope it all goes well
