Who is free 27th July and fancies joining me?

Ok ladies...this one isn't as far as the last one I suggested. I wont accept the 'I'm on holiday' excuse again, unless you are really lucky and manage to have multiple holidays per year. We also have time to train for it (even you will be up again by then Twinkie ). So here it is. Lets get a team together and do it. Who is joining me?

Ok, so as that one was clearly aimed at me ...

Right, deep breath ... I'll do it!

Just don't feel you need to wait for me as I stagger round. Will be away for a couple of weeks in early july so I hope you realise I'm going to have to run around cornwall!

Went out yesterday, did the week 3 run from the plan. Didn't quite collapse when I got it! Have managed to wangle a route which isn't quite as hilly - at least I don't have to run all the way down to the station and back up again!

Twinkie - can you remember the website you mentioned that works you out a route of a certain length. Or did I imagine that??

SP xx

SparklyPrincess · 21/04/2008 09:43

Have you registered yet, Mung - just noticed there are only 37 places left!

Mung · 21/04/2008 10:03

It wasn't just aimed at you SP. I know Saz was thinking of starting running too.

I haven't registered. Do we need to register together if we are a team?

OP posts:
SparklyPrincess · 21/04/2008 11:59

Aah, but I was the one with the weak holiday excuse!

Looks like we register together ... not quite sure how the team thing works though.

Are LOs better? DD2 still spotty but mostly scabby. It's such a skanky little disease!

pooter · 21/04/2008 13:03

Twenty nine places left now!! I feel like i should say "Yes" as i'm really unfit and its now or never isnt it! I will check out the site for team registering info....

Are you all super fit?? Im more fat than fit unfortunately - i do like my food ...mmmmmmmm foooood......

Mung · 21/04/2008 13:08

I would term myself as more fat than fit too...but it gives us a target.

OP posts:
pooter · 21/04/2008 13:10

Just seen theres now only 27 places left!!!

Here is the info on entering..
Entry information

Entry costs £12.50 per person. This covers our costs in organising and running the event on the day
e.g. venue, hire, medals and toilets. This means that the sponsorship money you raise will go
directly towards our work into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.

You can enter up to ten people online If you're entering yourself as part of a group, you will need the postal address, telephone number, date of birth and email address of each participant to complete their registration. If you would like to enter more than ten people please call our hotline on 0871 641 2282.

You must have your credit/debit card and an email address to enter online. If you don't have both of these, please call our hotline number on 0871 641 2282.

For legal reasons under 18s cannot enter online individually. However under 18s can be included as part of a group registration

  • so perhaps it would be easier to all enter individually - biut still be in the same team??

Now im too scared to sign up incase all the places are filled before everyone else does!

Mung · 21/04/2008 13:10

We are all better here. DH had it too and its been a tough weekend. DD very grumpy yesterday and still a bit today. Not sure why really. I hope the spots all scab over quickly and you manage to get out and about a bit more SP.

OP posts:
pooter · 21/04/2008 13:25

twenty six now....

Mung · 21/04/2008 13:31

Should we register seperately then?

OP posts:
pooter · 21/04/2008 13:58

I think if we waited for someone to collate the info we need, then maybe we would be too late. What does everyone else think?

pooter · 21/04/2008 13:58

24 now...

Mung · 21/04/2008 14:12

OK. I am going to register on my own and hope that you guys do the same. We can then meet and do it together anyway.

OP posts:
pooter · 21/04/2008 14:25

ok, im going to register too - yikes!

pooter · 21/04/2008 14:36

Right - ive done it! Please tell me im not on my own!!

Ive got a book that gives lots of plans about how to get started running, so i will try to follow that. What is anyone else going to do? Do you plan to run the entire 5 miles? At the mo that is not even on the horizon for me - i could run 1mile very slowly but that is it.

OK Training starts here!!

Mung · 21/04/2008 14:45

i am following this plan trying to register, but it went funny. On phone now trying to sort it out. You aren't on your own.

OP posts:
Mung · 21/04/2008 14:47

All sorted...race pack arriving in 21 days...woohoo

OP posts:
SparklyPrincess · 21/04/2008 14:50

Will be registering imminently, just trying to get credit card details off OH!

I'm following the same plan as Mung, on week 3 at mo but it's taken me ages to get here!

SP xx

SparklyPrincess · 21/04/2008 14:52

Meant to say... Really want to run round but we'll have to see!

Don't worry Pooter - I don't think I could run a mile yet ... only up to 3 minute intervals with walks inbetween. It's 5 km, not 5 miles so not quite so bad as well

Mung · 21/04/2008 14:55

My aim is to run too. I am sure we can do it. I went running on Sunday and ran for 2 mins and walked for 1 minute.

If you fancy a 5 mile run, there is always the round the island run in Mersea . Once I have completed this, I will then sign up for that as my next target. Who knows, we could be running the marathon next year

Saz126 · 21/04/2008 15:44

Hi, been watching thread and mulling over, shall I/shan't I? Just spoken to DH and he says I should go for it. Slightly worried as I think I would probably only make 5 metres at the moment! If there are still places left tonight when I get home then I will register. (slighlty hoping for a sudden surge of interest from the whole Colchester population!) Saz

SparklyPrincess · 21/04/2008 17:23

They won't let me use DH's credit card so I've got to wait til he gets home so he can ring them and tell them he's given permission for me to spend his money.

... more from the 1950's home later! I shall be putting on my makeup and doing my hair especially to ask for an increase in my wifely allowance...

What a faff!

So will be registering soon-ish unless Saz beats me to it to the last place!

pooter · 21/04/2008 17:33

16 places left...hurry home SP's husband!

Yes - i cant stand it when the bank wont speak to me about our joint account - i want to shout down the phone "IT WAS MY ACCOUNT FIRST AND ITS MY MONEY TOO" grrr. Although they probably just want to sell me a loan or a credit card.

Thanks for the link to your plan - it looks remarkably similar to the one in my book.

Right im off to look for toad in the hole recipies - well, ive already got the toad (cauldron veggie sausages) but no idea of how to make the hole.

Really hope everyone else interested gets a place! Have tried to start running before, but always on my own and it didnt last long - just keep prodding me will you??

SparklyPrincess · 21/04/2008 17:46

Ok - done! Better hurry, Saz!

DH reckons I should have just rung straight back and affected a gravelly voice.

Hole's just yorkshire pudding, pooter. Don't ask me what's in it, but might be easier to find!

God, what have I let myself in for...

Saz126 · 21/04/2008 20:39

OMG! I just made it, second to last place left. I guess I'd better start training!
