New thread for new month!

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 22/04/2008 16:30

Yes, I love British sense of humour. Something you should be proud of, as well as Mrs Thatcher. [only joking]

Mellow - thanks for the info. [crosses Wii off the shopping list]

SJ99 · 22/04/2008 19:03

Sfx did you make it out in the end? We had a glorious day at Kew, DS walked a lot got back late afternoon in time for someone to have a meltdown after realising how tired and hungry they were. Early to bed again.

Have now finalised mortgage, phew, can tick that off my check list

I want to go to Japan, sounds well futuristic, enjoy your trip Sushi

Mellow - Happy B'day for DD

Steppie - LOl at pasty & choc, at least you didn't have a kebab

SJ99 · 22/04/2008 19:07

Cov - brochure looks v.stylish, you must be pleased

rosmerta · 22/04/2008 19:21

evening all,

sj, sympathies with meltdown. We've been having lots of those as well last couple of days.

slng, I managed to catch a bit of Brum today as well, never again! Just too weird

Anyone fancy meeting up tomorrow or Thursday afternoon? If weather stays nice, you're welcome to my garden or could go to Kew

slng · 22/04/2008 19:41

I'm going out now!

sfxmum · 22/04/2008 19:48

slng is that in protest or to enjoy yourself?

SJ sympathy with meltdown. we stayed home we dd shrieking every time snot came out and loud wail of TISSSIU . make me crazy but I managed to keep her reasonably busy and did some study too

Ros dd seemed fine until well after 2.6 since January we have had what can be classed as terrible twos, often funny but very trying.

already set my alarm for 7am, think I will go out again

and yes please meeting up somewhere

Lau - sorry I could not make it out today

ComeOVeneer · 22/04/2008 19:57

Well ds fell asleep around 6.10 this evening (on the floor in the living room). I hope he sleeps through and doesn't wakre in the middle of the night!

rosmerta · 22/04/2008 19:59

sfx, I think we just have 2 very independent characters . Having said that, I've been getting ds to walk more (don't want to have to buy a double buggy when dc2 pops along!) and I think its just tiring him out so much.

sfxmum · 22/04/2008 20:07

cov that sounds like a very boy thing to do hope he sleeps properly tonight

Ros that is a good plan double buggies just seem like hard work on public transport.
a combo of sling and buggy board should do it

dh just stepped out to take the rubbish out and dd in her best dramatic vice said 'oh daddy I miss you so much when you go away'
putty I tell you

Lausy · 22/04/2008 20:32

Ahhh just had the best meal ever!! DH doesn't eat beef so substiuted it with ostrich fillet served with roasted baby potatoes, creamed spinach, brie and cranberry sauce - was lovely lovely lovely and am in good books with DH!! Hurrahh!

Had a relapse on the thumb today - caught it on the seatbelt nevermind, it'll be better in a week..

Managed to get to Kew in the end at about 12.30 but am not familiar with it and SatNav wasn't playing ball, tried to park in a million places with DS having a meltdown in the back seat - gave up, took him out and sat with him in my lap in the car for 20 minutes playing with the gadgets and then drove home (me, not him)

ComeOVeneer · 22/04/2008 20:44

Sounds a delicious meal Lausy. We had french onion soup with frnch bread and guryere coutons, then lamb steaks roatsted with rosemary and garlic butter, crushed new potatoes and green beans.

bunyanvillas · 22/04/2008 20:49

Ros, buggyboard seems to be working well for us so far and dd is doing a lot of walking these days. We also got her a bike with stabilisers to enhance her new "big girl" status which has also been a success. Lausy, sorry about your thumb - eek! Am not at all good with blood and gore. Make sure it is well bandaged up tomorrow! Where on earth does one get ostrich from? Haven't seen it in Tesco lately or am I not upmarket enough Where did you try to park at Kew? I have a secret road I always head to for a guaranteed space. SJ, glad to hear you got a mortgage sorted out, that's great. We've been having windows fitted over the last couple of days - just what I needed when dh's paternity leave ended!

bunyanvillas · 22/04/2008 20:50

Cov - once again, you put me to shame. We have just eaten 2 x Tesco ready meals plus naan! One really must get one's act together

ComeOVeneer · 22/04/2008 21:00

Bunyan, you have a newborn, I would be in awe if you were cooking 2 course meals. ANyway I made the soup last week and froze it into portions. I do a lot of bulk catering and freezing (I am the proud owner of 3 freezers). Apart from fresh fruit and veg, I could probably go a couple of months without shopping, my store cupboards and freezers are so full of food!

ComeOVeneer · 22/04/2008 21:01

And your spelling is much better than mine .

sfxmum · 22/04/2008 21:04

oh yummy food but since we have not been out I had do make do with what we had lurking about so
it was carrot and butternut nut squash soup followed by homemade bean burgers with salad

cheerio BSG is on

SJ congrats on sorted mortgage

Lau must give you better info next time sorry

Lausy · 22/04/2008 21:04

We had to order the ostrich from a butchers and it cost a packet - not something to have every week but I think DH is missing his darling South Africa!

Please tell me your secret road - I'm really rubbish and get myself in such a tizz

COV - You dinner sounds lovely too, I absolutely LOVE french onion soup!

I'm going to try and get to Kew on Thursday if anyone can make it? It'd be quite nice to meet some of you before Friday otherwise it'll feel like a blind date!!!

bunyanvillas · 22/04/2008 21:13

Cov, how long can I use "having a newborn in the house" as an excuse SFX, I wouldn't mind your recipe for home-made beanburgers - sounds yum! Lausy, if you turn left at the bottom of Kew Bridge and drive past "The Greyhound" pub - go straight on past the little pond (on your right) and then straight on into one of the residential roads, you can park there for free and there are usually plenty of spaces. OK, it's a little bit of a walk back to the gardens but I usually find it fine - apart from the day when we attempted it with dd and ds who was then 3 days old. By the time we got to the main gate I was ready to go home!

ComeOVeneer · 22/04/2008 21:13

Is your dh from SA lausy? DH's family are SA born and bred too (although dh grew up in London, mainly due to his family having to leave SA for political reasons)

rosmerta · 22/04/2008 21:33

just thought, haven't seen eleusis or xoxo on here for a while, anyone heard from them? hope they're ok

SJ99 · 22/04/2008 21:36

Pity about parking Lau, didn't have your no. otherwise could've directed you. Hope thumb is recovering. LOL at blind date scenario!

DS only has major meltdowns when guests are here, he's just so overtired, he couldn't nap all last week - way too stimulated and no quiet time from GP's, but he now sleeps 14hrs straight through Anyway the G's only see him a few times a yr so I just go with it.

Sfx - hope Dd recovers from her poorly status so you can venture out tom.

Ros would love to come (if only to meet the action man) but will have to pass this wk.

COV - at 3 full freezers!

SJ99 · 22/04/2008 21:38

Bunyan - DS looks absolutely gorgeous

rosmerta · 22/04/2008 21:38

no worries sj, I can show you another time

SJ99 · 22/04/2008 21:39

Can't wait

ComeOVeneer · 22/04/2008 21:51

Ros, ele has done a name change (can't recall what, something like athenanocturna) she was away for a while, took the children to Chicago I believe, but I'm sure she haas been back a while. No idea about xoxo though.
