erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

SFX, I must make sure never to cross you Sushimummy, is it a lunch? High Road Brasserie in Chiswick is nice and v child friendly.

SushiMummy · 14/11/2007 14:59

Ooooh, thanks Bunyan! Is it the famous hotel/restaurant run by Ant&Dec? Kids menu looks nice. Must try it.

sfxmum · 14/11/2007 15:15

bunnyan I am actually quite chilled out, promise.

was not aware Ant&Dec had branched out into the food business.

thinking of child friendly places, but not great food I like the Giraffe can almost taste the stack of pancakes yum! or the cooked breakfast thing, very nice for brunch

bunyanvillas · 14/11/2007 15:15

Yes, that's the one! It's quite buzzy and not massively expensive. The staff there have always been great with dd when we've been there (which is mostly just for a coffee - but I remember going for a family lunch once and dd was not the only child there. Plus they have pencils/colouring in stuff too which is always a plus point.

bunyanvillas · 14/11/2007 15:17

Oh I could just eat a stack of pancakes now!! Speaking of FOOD - do you think we should do a local Christmas night out or are people just sticking to the main Mumsnet party? (Think I'm too scared to go to that one!)

sfxmum · 14/11/2007 15:22

not going to the main one, would quite like a local meet up not expensive please.

bunyanvillas · 14/11/2007 15:28

Oh cripes, ditto re: not expensive! I shouldn't really be going out at all - but hey ... it's Christmas!! What about tapas? Or Italian? Any ideas? Should I go crazy and START A NEW THREAD on this?

Paddlechick666 · 14/11/2007 15:31

CM says dd has been sick again

luckily my mum is on her way down anyway so will collect her early. am really puzzled by this now as she was right as rain yesterday and seems fine now

work is seriously ramping up and it's gettign harder to get away when she's ill.

btw, bunyan this is the £200 quote I had for local 2 man removal www.2menremovals.com/

where are you moving to then?

great news that your dd is going to be at All Saints. mine is starting in Jan.

could be up for a cheapie night out depending on sitters etc.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/11/2007 15:33

go on you know you want to

can't quite believe it is mid November already so really just a month to go otherwise it will be too late

lemonaid · 14/11/2007 15:42

Like sfx, not going to the main one, and would quite like a local meet up (might be unusually abstemious with the number of pregnant W Londoners we have at the moment ) if we can achieve the seemingly-impossible task of finding a mutually convenient date.

can't see link bunnyan
do you like renovating? I hope at least the heating is working. I really am not that sort of person, don't mind directing it from comfy place but actually do it NO

I guess I should start looking for nursery place for dd starting next year, but only a few hrs a week I think

paddle sorry dd is not well

my cousin emailed me saying it is unseasonably warm there about 27Cbut all the Christmas lights are up, how very weird

Paddlechick666 · 14/11/2007 16:27

bunyan, i heard all saints was fabulous too and i really liked it when i visited.

dd is only going 2 mornings a week to start with so.....

am impressed with your gumption to renovate. i am like you, sfx, love the idea of it but actually doing it would probably kill me!

can't see link for xmas night out either but have a small idea for that pub in st marg's near the station. always looks nice from the H37 bus

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/11/2007 16:39

preschool in jan

tell me DS isnt eligible yet - he must be too young! How the ehll do I start looking into preschool (is that what I used to call nursery?)

Don;t think I will have the money or babysitting favours left for Xmas dinner - I have MN one and work one in dec. Would be game for a new year sdinner though if anyone else fancies it - something reasonably priced? (she says hopefully)

sfxmum · 14/11/2007 16:44

I think paddle was pushing that pub last year

I had a look at the nursery attached to the local school and the Ofstead report was not great, still best to go and have a look

today decided to do a slow cook veg casserole and the place smells gorgeous, proper winter food and I feel all grown up, well sort of

Paddlechick666 · 14/11/2007 17:13

it just looks really nice lol.

kew, my CM got me onto the whole pre-school thing. at age 3 they get a free place but you can enrol them earlier and pay.

it's not compulsory, at least not at this age. my pre-school say min age is 2.3 hence dd starting in january.

your CM might be able to recommend one? both the ones i considered are not attached to any schools.

when i move dd will probably end up going to heathfield nursery at age 3 when it's free! she'll move up to infants and juniors from there i guess.

fitfox · 14/11/2007 19:03

hhhmm I don't think people should say on here which schools or nurserys their chldren go to/are going to

Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't think its a good idea

sfx - hormonal or what?

I would love a local meet up as I can't leave DS2 for lond twixt feeds so can't do the London one

Sushi I love Escale on Kew Road - fantastic fish (Turkish)

bunyanvillas · 14/11/2007 19:07

Oh cripes, fitfox - you have a good point We went to Escale once for a night out a couple of years ago didn't we? It was nice ...

SJ99 · 14/11/2007 19:18

Have started looking into preschools, but DS probably won't start one until at least 2.5yrs old, but some have waiting lists so you may want to look start looking into a few KC just in case. Well done on getting that sorted PC & Bunyan.

Would be up for a local Xmas or NY do, not going to main party.

Sushi - there is lovely Italian place on Church st in Twickers (the ye olde street)v. child friendly and food is great. We went once we DS when G's were over. It's quite small and v.popular so you'd have to book.

Also had a scary incident at park this arvo. Ds fell off the climbing frame it was quite high and he was distracted looking at this little girl, next thing he fell to the floor - it was real heart stopping moment, but luckily he landed on his front and I think his big jumper and duffle coat made for softish landing. He was more stunned at the fall than in pain, phew.

SJ99 · 14/11/2007 19:22

Ros - I made the meatballs today for the first time, a few fell apart during cooking but otherwise the rest looked good and DS scoffed the lot [yum]
I went a bit OTT with the cooking though and seem to have made enough the feed a small army, somehow will have to cram them into the freezer...

stepfordwife · 14/11/2007 19:46

hi everyone
how you all diddling?

what's make-up?

up for a christmas or NY do..(that's new year, not new york..)

much to my chagrin, about to depart for - shudder - pta meeting at school. somehow have ended up as a class rep(really haven't got time or inclination to do it) after uttering the immortal words:"look, if you're really desperate.."

I hate meetings -
*they're for people who like the sound of their own voices
*it'll be in a freezing cold hall

  • the pta clique will be there

in short, everything i hate wrapped up into one evening.
ho-hum..what's an hour (please god just an hour) out of my life, eh?
whinge over
as you were..
have a good evening
toodlepip

Kewcumber · 14/11/2007 20:09

I see ( re preschool) - DS defintiely not ready for a preschool yet but I think your DD is much more advanced than him. Also think I will have a problem paying for preschool on top of childminder for any length of time (ie more than a few months) and have the added logistical problem of either needing one that CM can pick up/drop off or needing someone else to take him. Oh dear it all starts getting a bit complicated...

Suspect I will get him to do a couple of mornings a week from Easter 08 at the earliest. All CM's kids have gone to catholic school so don't think she'll be much help. Steppie - are you going to send DD to same one as your boys? Think thats the most local one to me.

Paddlechick666 · 14/11/2007 20:43

kew, dd will go 1 morning when she's at CM so won't pay for CM and pre-school and one morning when she's with my mum so slight increase in fees there. only because they have given me those days. hope to swap when things settle a bit.

overall, intend to tell H he has to pay but appreciate the cost issues. £40 registration to pay too

have you checked your benefits etc?

oh and am lucky in that CM can do pick up/drop off without too much hassle.

dd tucked up after i had a mercy dash to CM to get "MINE MONKEY" which got left behind this arvo.

fingers crossed everyone for a vomit free night.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/11/2007 21:14

my cm won't generally hold a day for you if you're only paying for say half of it as she can't use the other few hours. Obviously depends on how convenient it is for her as well but I think pick up/drop off will be a pain in the neck. Think I'll cross that bridge when I come to it...

Paddlechick666 · 14/11/2007 21:17

ah I see. my CM's cool about that. I drop her at 8am she drops dd at pre-school at 9:30am and collects her later then has her for the rest of the day.

am just a little peeved dd has been given Monday and Friday so a big gap between sessions.

will call tomorrow and see if i can jiggle the days.....
