Apparently they are sick of going to York. TBF i take them every year. Three girls aged 11, 13 and 14. I've already booked it so it's not negociable but, can anyone advise me of the great things to do there?

There are a few vintage tea shops that have opened recently in the city centre..I haven't been there and I don't know their names ( sorry!) but sure Google will find then for you! One is on Park Row.

Johnogroats · 29/07/2014 09:48

I was born in Leeds. Rather regretting I left! Must go back and see grandad soon!

Lighthousekeeping · 29/07/2014 10:24

They keep asking me what we are doing. I've no idea! I need one day out and two part days in Leeds.

Sunshine bakery in chapel allerton for afternoon tea

FriteFuaite · 29/07/2014 11:37

Just Grand! Vintage Tearooms in the Grand Arcade is gorgeous, beautiful cakes, kinda pricey but lovely for a treat.

Xscape is a great place for teens and it has a Pizza Express Grin

LePetitPont · 29/07/2014 11:40

For posh afternoon tea, agree with suggestion of Harvey Nicks. The queens is really near your hotel?

There is a vintage tea room in the grand arcade that looks nice. Or le chalet, a French tea room on the headrow

You could combine sunshine bakery with a trip to Roundhay park (number 2 bus between them in 5 mins or so) and chapel a has some cute little gift shops for mooching.

LePetitPont · 29/07/2014 11:42

Cross posts with frite! Just grand! Is where I was thinking of.

Imliketotallyummm · 29/07/2014 16:21

The Tiled Hall café in the art gallery/library off the Headrow do afternoon tea, lovely cake and lots of different interesting sorts of tea. Alternatively there is a little café in the Queens arcade called Pickles and Potter, which does lovely teas, also great sandwiches, lovely salads. The different sorts of bread and cheese are amazing.

Or you could be posh and have afternoon tea in Harvey Nicks.

17, no not just you re the Media Museum, after all the hype we thought it was a bit poor too.

PeachandBlack · 29/07/2014 16:42

This is such a great thread, I would never have thought about going to Leeds. Any chance it could be moved to the travel section so these suggestions don't get lost?

Lighthousekeeping · 29/07/2014 16:48

Good idea.

I've looked at the Armouries and was told that they've been learning about the Romans and the elephants do that will be our first stop off and will take up one afternoon and we will eat from there. Any suggestions in that area would be great. We may even catch a movie after.

There is Valerie's tea shop on Albion street which does a wonderful selection of cakes. It happens to be next door to an old fashioned sweet shoppe where I have spent too much money

There is also hotel chocolate (Roast & Conch) on Albion Street where everything on the menu is made from chocolate or has chocolate in it including the savoury dishes. Grin

BikeRunSki · 29/07/2014 20:19

There's a Pizza Express opposite the Armouries.

Primadonnagirl · 29/07/2014 22:33

From the armouries walk to Brewery Wharf..there's the Tetley place just 5 mins away. Personally, I think the area near the armouries is a bit grim..better off just heading into the city centre where there's loads of choices.but given the ages of the girls I don't think you can beat the Trinity Kitchen..its like no food court you've ever experienced!

Primadonnagirl · 29/07/2014 22:35

If you are not on a tight budget I would recommend the Everyman cinema ( also in the trinity arcade) where you get to sit on sofas ( and you can have a glass of wine! )

Lighthousekeeping · 30/07/2014 07:51

Is the trinity kitchen walkable from the armouries?

OP posts:
legoqueen · 30/07/2014 08:10

It's a 10 -15 minute walk, the Arts Cafe is even nearer. Everyman cinema is fab!

Lighthousekeeping · 30/07/2014 08:22

Is Everyman in the same place as trinity? We are just leaving can you believe the child as just err changed. She's dead upset because she said she can't go swimming now. Bless her. Typical it should be just as we are setting off!

OP posts:
Primadonnagirl · 30/07/2014 08:29

Yes, the Everyman cinema and the Trinity Kitchen are both in the Trinity Arcade.Have a fab time!

LePetitPont · 30/07/2014 11:38

You could walk up through brewery wharf along the calls to the arts cafe. Is lovely there. If you were after outside space, you'd pass the stew and oyster which has seating overlooking the river aire. And board games!

Could them save trinity and the Everyman for another day.

Lighthousekeeping · 30/07/2014 14:55

Bloody hell it's massive!

OP posts:
Lighthousekeeping · 31/07/2014 09:24

Not doing the day out. I just can't get them organised. So, armouries today and then where's good in that area? Not food I'm using my vouchers tonight and then we are going to the Everyman.

OP posts:
Primadonnagirl · 31/07/2014 09:31

You will have to come back into town as there's really only the armouries there. But if you walk back via Brewery Wharf that's quite a nice stroll.also I forgot to say there's a great pizza resturant in the Everyman cinema.Definitely do all the arcades that run off Briggate today..you'll see old and new Leedss!

Lighthousekeeping · 31/07/2014 09:39

I've got pizza express vouchers I'm reluctant to spend any more than I have to the cinema tickets were £50!
