having just moved to Exeter I need to make new friends.....would anyone like to join me for a book club involving meeting once a month in a pub (weatherspoons in town?) to maybe read a book that we all choose or talk about books we've read and drink several glasses of wine, beer etc

Hi bbbiscuits,

I'm new to Exeter too. Moved here at the end of November with my hubby and 22 month old son. Have always fancied being part of a book club and keen to meet some new people, so I might be interested. What sorts of books are you into?

Theyda · 27/01/2012 22:45

This would be something I would be interested in joining also. I moved to Exeter years ago but still don't know anyone here as I work in a small company and don't really get much chance to meet people, plus I'm a big fan of reading and I'm always looking for things that aren't my usual thing.

bbbiscuits · 28/01/2012 19:40

Great to have some replies! I'll read anything that's not too scary.

Must admit my main motive is to make a few friends and have a glass or two of Wine .

What night of the week would be best for you?

As far as I go then most nights are fine for me, only the occasional Tuesday which isn't

E4EM · 30/01/2012 13:54

Thursdays are probably the best for me, although other nights are possible with enough warning. I agree, making friends and drinking wine sound like enough motivation... but the books provide a good excuse to request babysitting!

Theyda · 01/02/2012 12:48

Thursdays would be fine for me

bbbiscuits · 03/02/2012 21:32

Thursday next week? 8pm weatherspoons? Smile

Sounds good to me, which Weatherspoons? The big one near St.Davids or a different one?

E4EM · 05/02/2012 20:02

When you say next Thursday, do you mean this week (9th)? If so, that would be great! What time suits you both? And how will we know each other?!

E4EM · 05/02/2012 20:02

Sorry, just saw that you said 8pm. That suits me :)

bbbiscuits · 05/02/2012 21:56

The one in south street in town? Rather selfishly it is good for me! Also think I remember one of you lives in heavitree so maybe good for you? Happy to go the other one though if you want to? In the south street one There's some tables upstairs which are a bit quieter. Through main door turn to the right upstairs and I'll bring a book to put on the table! Have dark hair....

Am really really sorry....have been waiting to complete on a house and have just found out we can rent it while the sale goes through. We need to pick up the keys at 6pm on Thursday!! Sorry will be busy working out where to put furniture before van arrives on Friday. Can you tell I'm excited?!

Would you like to do the following Thursday although this is half term if that matters. We are not going away as will be busy unpacking!

Theyda · 07/02/2012 20:08

I'm happy to wait, life gets in the way but is more important to get your house sorted :) I would be excited too, would love to be moving.

E4EM · 09/02/2012 18:43

Ooh, glad I had found time to check messages before heading out! Sorry, been offline for a couple of days.

No problem at all. Sounds very exciting! Where is the new place? Hope the move goes smoothly and you enjoy settling in.

I can't do next week, but how about the Thursday after?

Hi ladies,

I am really sorry but I'm not going to be able to make it tonight, I have tonsillitis (had to go to the walk-in centre as not even registered with a GP yet). I am really disappointed. I hope you have a lovely time and that I can join you next time. x

Theyda · 28/02/2012 11:55

Hi all!
Hope you're feeling better Katekitkat, not a fun thing to have.

I started reading The Help and so far I'm really enjoying it, not too far in but already quite engrossed :)
