Hi, recently moved here from Cumbria for my husband's job with the intention of settling in and finding myself a job. However, 2 weeks in I discovered I was pregnant and so job hunting has taken a back seat behind the morning sickness! As a result I don't know anyone here and now I am 14 weeks (due Feb 2012)I am looking to meet other mums to be and hopefully get some advice on what ante-natal activities there are in the local area where I could meet people - and talk to someone other than my husband or the dog for a change :-)

Hi Jo, I'm in more or less the same position but have moved to thornbury from Yorkshire. I'm also due Feb. I don't know much about where ante-natal groups round here but would love a meet up so that I actually have adult conversation! I already have two children.

Crazybit · 25/08/2011 17:28

Also Jo, not sure if you're a member or not but there is an antenatel tnread for due Febs here

KoalaLilly · 25/08/2011 18:09

Hi Jo,
similar story here: moved to Bristol three months ago for my husbands job as well:) by then i was 9 weeks pregnant and due to all day lasting "morning" sickness couldn't look for a job. Feeling much better now though. Am due in Dec 2011 (23rd week now) and would love to get to know other mums-to-be.
If you fancy a chat that would be great:-)

Crazybit · 25/08/2011 19:03

Koala, me too with the allday sickness, and now showing so little chance of being hired now. Where abouts in Bristol are you?

KoalaLilly · 26/08/2011 14:24

Hi Crazybit,

i live in Redland. Only started to show three weeks ago and very proud:-)

flamencogirl · 28/08/2011 10:40

Hi

I am 26 weeks now also based in bradley stoke, happy to meet up for coffee some time

joandbump1 · 31/08/2011 11:17

Hi Crazybit, KoalaLilly and Flamencogirl,
Thanks for your replies, sorry for the delay in my reply, went home to Cumbria for a few days and ended up with a water infection, which was lovely, so ended up staying a bit longer. Its great to know I am not the only person in my situation. I would love to meet up for a chat sometime - I am free anytime and am happy to say that the sickness is finally but slowly starting to go which makes me feel a lot happier about leaving the house!

Thanks for the tip about the antenatel thread Crazybit, I will check that out now :-)

Ooh nasty water infection. I had one at the beginning and just wanted to cry. Shall we have a collective meet up then? I can do Mon with toddler, the rest of the mornings with toddler or afternoons child free. :). Gotta go to BS to Tesco today actually then off to a play centre to meet some other Bristolians that I met through mn.

joandbump1 · 03/09/2011 14:02

I must admit feeling very sorry for myself for a few days, can't wait for the 'blooming' phase to start now! A meet up sounds good to me. I am free Mon-Wed this week coming then off home for a long weekend, back Monday 12th so free the full week after that :-) Been to look at prams today, what a minefield!!

OP posts:
KoalaLilly · 05/09/2011 10:45

Hi ladies,
would be very nice to meet up, am flexible, as free all this week and on 12th+13th, then off for a long wkend. Any suggestions about place and time?
@ joandbump1 - hope, you've recovered after your infection and feeling better now.
Looking at lots of things as well, will have to "test-drive" the prams first:-)

joandbump1 · 06/09/2011 10:30

Hi Ladies,
Shall we make it the 12th or 13th for a meet up then? I only really know Cribbs Causeway, Bradley Stoke Tesco and the city centre so thats all I can suggest about place, but I am sure I can find my way to somewhere else if there is somewhere that is handier for everyone?

Feeling much better now thanks KoalaLilly :)

Is anybody going to any sort of ante-natal yet? I have been looking for aqua but can't find anything. Wondered if a normal aqua class rather than specifically pregnancy would be any good?

OP posts:
Crazybit · 06/09/2011 12:47

I can do either if them dates, would prefer the Mon so I'm not rushing to drop off/collect dd. I can do any of them but prefer cribbs and Bradley stoke as I hate paying for parking! There are coffee shops/ Subway at Bradley stoke and eateries at cribbs too...will anyone else have toddler/baby with them?

My mw gave me dates for antenatal class but aqua one or something would be nice. Will have a look when I get back from taking dd to nursery.

joandbump1 · 06/09/2011 15:14

Monday would suit me, what time is best for you? I have no little ones to consider so anytime is good for me.

I gave up on aquanatal, but spoke to a friend of mine who teaches normal aqua back home and she said that it would be fine to do a class not specifically for pregnant women as long as the instructor knows you are pregnant. BS leisure centre do 3 classes and Thornbury do 4 classes, mostly in the daytime, although there is one evening at each per week. Think I am going to rustle up some swimwear and give it a go!

Crazybit · 06/09/2011 23:09

Any time really after 9ish and will need to leave by 3. Shall we say 10.30-11 and go to...oh god I don't know..

Do you all drive? IKEA is fab for yummy food, free coffee/tea and dd loves the play area. Or anywhere really, I'm easy :)

Crazybit · 06/09/2011 23:10

Oh and would love to give the aqua thing a go if I can do it, so count me in if you want to give it a go.

KoalaLilly · 07/09/2011 13:26

Hello-hello,

Monday sounds great. Cribbs Causeway would be suitable for me as well (as i don't drive at the moment), 10.30-11.00 is fine.
Do we agree on that?

KoalaLilly · 07/09/2011 13:31

As for the antenatal yoga/gymanstics and aqua - am struggling as well although living in Redland. One near me is just too late in the evening and everything else is either too far or too late or they dont accept anyone after 23rd week.
I've decided to go to Horfield Leisure Center for "normal" swimming, yet haven't managed to get there yet....

Crazybit · 08/09/2011 21:52

Sounds fine to me Koala. Where shall we meet then? Plenty of eating type places, I love eating Grin

Or a coffee shop? There is a bogof on coffee here

All the other places within the Mall are here Pizza Hut have a £5 eat all you can eat deal on at the moment. Oh god, can you tell I'm hungry!?

Do you all want to eat or just grab a drink? If eating is required I will have a nosy for bogof meal type deals.

joandbump1 · 09/09/2011 11:34

Hi there, Cribbs is great for me too and 10.30-11 ok too. Sounds like I am not the only one who needs to be in reach of food allllll day! I will definitely need to eat! I am happy with pizza hut, £5 all you can eat - they would throw me out haha! I love Valeries for cakes too but its not cheap :-( The only things I would say no would be nandos and yo sushi - just the thought of either makes my stomach turn right now!

OP posts:
Crazybit · 09/09/2011 22:43

Pizza hut is good with me :) Not keen on Nandos anyway and never been to Yo sushsi cos dp is weird about raw fish!

KoalaLilly · 11/09/2011 11:59

Pizza Hut is fine, time ok as well. See you tomorrow then!

P.S. - how do we recognise each other? There might be some other pregnant women apart from us;-)

Crazybit · 11/09/2011 12:13

I'll be the one that's probably late, flustered and dragging a blonde toddler behind me. I'm also blonde.

joandbump1 · 11/09/2011 16:38

Looking forward to it! See you there.

I am 5'3 and mousy haired, about shoulder length. I have a large nude coloured handbag that I am using all the time at the moment as I can stuff it full of snacks!

What about your real names ladies, I am not too keen on wandering over to a table and asking are you Crazy or are you Koala?! :-)

OP posts:
KoalaLilly · 11/09/2011 16:48

:-)) That would be indeed hilarious:-))
I'am 5'8 and blonde, with a large brown handbag with white and yellow stripes.
As for the real names, wouldn't like to put it on here, but you're right, can't introduce myself by "Koala" either....

Crazybit · 11/09/2011 16:52

Hahaha Crazy and Koala.

Forgot to say, I am 5,5. Will PM my name and mob number just in case of any problems. Also, will prinb off the £5 deal for pizza n salad if I can get my printer to work but will more than likely go for the £6.99 buffet cos I'm a greedy pig.

Oh, and I'll have to leave by about 1.40 as I stupidly booked my Tesco delivery for between 2 and 4 and there are no other slots available now. See you tomorrow!
