Mums to be Bradley Stoke/Stoke Gifford

joandbump1 · 18/08/2011 16:03

Hi, recently moved here from Cumbria for my husband's job with the intention of settling in and finding myself a job. However, 2 weeks in I discovered I was pregnant and so job hunting has taken a back seat behind the morning sickness! As a result I don't know anyone here and now I am 14 weeks (due Feb 2012)I am looking to meet other mums to be and hopefully get some advice on what ante-natal activities there are in the local area where I could meet people - and talk to someone other than my husband or the dog for a change :-)

Hi

Sorry I couldn't make this get together but do let me know if you arrange another one!

Crazybit · 12/09/2011 20:54

Aw Flamenco-So sorry, I should have scrolled back and PMed you.

Was lovely to meet you Joandbump and Koala, sorry I rushed off with the demon child, hope you couldn't hear her screams as I dragged her through Boots. Hmm

Flamenco, we decided that it may be an idea to go swimming as some leisure centres offer pregnany ladies free swims if you fancy it..list here

Crazybit · 12/09/2011 20:56

Actually, you need proof of residency-I may not qualify! No matter, I willl just pay :)

KoalaLilly · 13/09/2011 13:21

@ flamencogirl - would be nice if you could join in for a swim as well.

@Crazy - do you have any letter posted to you to the new address in Thornbury? It works as a proof of address (did for me).

I'll find out about the times in Horfield and let you know, but we might go somewhere else, wherever more convinient for everyone.

Hurray for swimming!

KoalaLilly · 13/09/2011 17:16

Here are the times for Horfield Leisure Centre (till 22nd of October, then holiday schedule):

Tuesdays: 1.30 p.m.-7 p.m. - "swim for all"

Wednesdays: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. + 1.30 p.m. - 4 p.m. "swim for all"

Thursdays: 1.30 p.m. - 6 p.m. - "swim for all".

Fridays: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. + 1.30 - 4 p.m.

Have a good week everyone!!

Crazybit · 13/09/2011 18:08

koala-I can prove address buy it is South Gloucestershire so not sure if I'd count as a resident of Bristol. My postcode is BSxx though so should be.

joandbump1 · 13/09/2011 20:01

Hi Crazy and Koala, was great to meet you too, and little Crazy :-), she's no demon child she was lovely!

I hope you could join us for a swim or another meet up some time flamencogirl :-)

I could do any swim times, my postcode is BS but we are South Glos. as well so I think I will give Horfield a ring and just check if we qualify.

I also checked out the aqua again and think I might go next Monday evening to BS - Crazy, on the timetable there are aqua classes specifically for 60+ so perhaps thats why the one you saw was full of old ladies! :-)

Hi

Swimming sounds great only thing I have been swimming a lot recently here in bradley stoke, and am all swimmed out!

If you do meet up again for coffee / lunch etc, do let me know. In the meantime happy swimming! x

Crazybit · 16/09/2011 22:14

I could do 1.30-3 tue, wed, thur or fri or any time thurs. Can't do evenings till OH gets back in two weeks, and tbh I'm not too keen on going out after dark, far too comfy sat on my bum in the warm.

Jo-did you ring Horfield?

Crazybit · 16/09/2011 22:16

Also, does anyone fancy meeting at Bradley Stoke one day next week? Theres pubs round there isn't there where we could have a munch?

KoalaLilly · 19/09/2011 11:15

Munch at a Bradley Stoke pub sounds like an idea to me:-) Am flexible this week, so no probs.
As for the swimming - what do we agree on? Shall we go to Horfield or somewhere else and when? Agree with Crazy - prefer to go during the day rather than in the evening, but free any morning/afternoon, so just let's pick time.

joandbump1 · 19/09/2011 16:01

Hi, sorry been off the radar! Got into a major spring clean, garage and all, nothing left untouched! I guess next week is now this week! I am free Tues and Wed but going home Thurs, not sure what time yet. Pub lunch sounds good to me if either of those days is ok for everyone?

Re swimming I am happy enough to go to Horfield. Not back from our weekend at home until Tues 27th but after that not away for a while so anytime suits me and daytimes are probably better. How about we swim on Wed 28th? I did forget to ring them but I will do it I promise!

I am trying out aqua tonight at BS so I will report my findings back to you! Noted that you prefer to be sat on your bum in the evenings Crazy :-) If its any good we could look for some day time classes!

KoalaLilly · 19/09/2011 16:42

Hello Ladies,

Tues/Wed and Horfield for swimming suits me fine, although i'm going to a dinner on Wed at 7.30, but free during the day, so any time on those two days.

@joandbump - you have been very busy indeed:-)
am recovering from the wedding wkend - it has been a very nice one, except for travelling back with flight delays and traffic jams...

Hurray and looking forward to our meet-up!!

P.S. - swimming on the 28th sounds great, seeing my midwife in the morning, free after the appointment.

Crazybit · 19/09/2011 18:14

Wed 28th is ok for me, wont get there till around 1.30 if thats ok, I drop demon child off at 1. Also can do tomorrow or Wed..wanna do food or swim? I prefer after 1 when I've dropped her off, she's a bit of a brat at the moment and my fuse is well and truly short so best not to take her out if I can help it atm.

KoalaLilly · 19/09/2011 19:26

I probably would prefer swimming on Wed afternoon (21st September), seems like a suitable time for Crazy as well:-) Let me know if it clashes with both your wishes.
@ Crazy - the little one behaved very well last Monday, nothing like a "bit of a brat";-)

Crazybit · 19/09/2011 20:31

Wed 1:30 is good for me.

Oh I know Koala, but she's really pushing things atm, she's being a diva and had a bit of a day of it today with her so wouldn't look forward to taking her out. We going to Horfield?
Jo-Hope you enjoy tonight, let us know how it goes :)

KoalaLilly · 19/09/2011 21:12

Let's say Wed 1.30 at Horfield then.

@Crazy - Have a relaxing evening!
@Jo - hope aqua was fun:-)

See you both on Wed!

joandbump1 · 20/09/2011 11:02

Morning all!

Tomorrow at 1.30 is no problem for me for swimming. I rang Horfield and they said all that's needed is your maternity exemption card, no proof of address required, free for anyone pregnant :-) There is a form to fill in so I will be there a bit earlier.

Will fill you in on aqua tomorrow!

Ooh just realised I need to find something to wear. May be in a bikini, you'll have to avert your eyes!

Crazybit · 30/09/2011 21:07

Flamencogirl-You up for meeting on Tue afternoon? Think the plan is to meet somewhere at Cribbs around 1:30...

flamencogirl · 30/09/2011 22:10

oh dear I am not doing very well with mumsnet meetups! Have a midwife appt at 12.00 then acupuncture at 2.30 on tues in Frenchay

Do let me know when the next one is, thank you crazybit for remembering me!!

Crazybit · 01/10/2011 20:48

No problem Flamenco, will let you know for the next one :)

BEXANDBUMP · 10/10/2011 11:16

Hey everyone,
I am Bex and have also recently (in the last 3 weeks) moved to Stoke Gifford. I would really lovely to meet you all, though I hope I haven't missed the boat!! I am currently 36 weeks pregnant, but really want to get established in a social circle in this new lovely area.
Hope to hear from you soon!

joandbump1 · 10/10/2011 13:28

Hi Bex,

Wow 36 weeks, not long for you now!
You are more than welcome to come along when we meet up. Not sure if we are doing anything this week as we are all a bit busy with other things, but as soon as we plan out next meet up we will get in touch :-)
Jo

Hi Bex. Where you moved from?

As Joandbump says, we're all busy this week so far but are hoping to have a meet up next week (Joandbump, you're away aren't you?)

What days are good for people? I can do afternoons 1.30-3.30 ish or mornings up until about 12.30, and usually I can do all day Monday but have something on this coming Mon.
