Steppie - this was one of my first q's when they started Grin Pleased to say they are very self contained and have their own kettle so barely have to bother me for anything which has been a pleasant surprise. Good idea about donuts, will do that.

Flubba- LOL at description of your day! Which school is your dd1 at?
I have a yummy biscuit recipe which just sets in the fridge. I'll post recipe tonight as have to cook dinner now then heading out soon. I made them ages ago for Kew, she and Steppie scoffed them all up Shock Grin

flubba -if it helps - I'll be making microwave fapjacks which I haven't done before and I gather are rather good and banana loaf in the breadmaker. You're welcome to come and use mine if you are stuck...

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/09/2011 15:48

Back from work via Waitrose - forgot about the puds, but got other yummy stuff. If I'm going to have DS1 home for lunch we might as well eat nicely. Perhaps I'll simply take him off school when I don't have to go in. If it's too dangerous to have lunch in school it's too dangerous to go to school. Wink Imagine. We can do the science museum without crowds. Very tempting.

Don't know what you can bake without baking. I usually go to the co-op.

Islandhaze - apparently your DH sent my DH an email about some professor or other. Confused Or something like that.

islandhaze · 26/09/2011 16:49

Copper, ill ask dh when he comes back tonight Wink its still an amazing coincidence :)

Flubba, here is one easy one :

3-4 packs of plain cookies
1 pack of butter
1 can of condensed milk
1 spoon of cacao

Melt the butter on a small fire, add condensed milk and cacao. break cookies into a big ball (big crumbs), then mix all together. stuff it in a small plastic bag. leave for 3-4 hours or overnight. its yummy :)

sfxmum · 26/09/2011 21:29

Raw food cake (as promised) I like making this as both dh&dd are not that keen on them and I get a box full of reasonably healthy treats

2 ½ dl grounded almonds
½ dl sesame seeds
½ dl cocoa powder or carob powder
2 dl desiccated coconut
250 g dates
1 banana
½ teaspoon vanilla
fruit/berries on top

Soak dates in water for 10 minutes.
In a bowl; grounded almonds, sesame seeds, cocoa powder and coconut.
Mash the dates (without the water) and the banana in food processor and add the vanilla. When well mashed put in the bowl and mix well.

Option one:
Put in a tin and leave in freezer for a while. Ca 15 min before serving take out of freezer and put berries/fruit on top. Serve with whipped cream/ice cream (and ruin the effect of the healthy raw food cake!!)

Option two;
Form little balls/bars with the batter and store in the freezer. Take one (or two, or three..) out every time you crave something sweet with your coffee.

sfxmum · 26/09/2011 21:31

actually reminds me I have a MacMillan coffee morning this Friday but don't think I am required to bring baked good, usually just show up with nice coffee

islandhaze · 26/09/2011 21:47

Sfx , i think ill try this one next weekend ;)

Copper, yes, all figured out :) They have never met i guess, but my dh needed some information from you dh. He said your dh is "WOW smart" :)

tillyfernackerpants · 26/09/2011 21:59

sfx, that looks yummy, will give that a try!

vbus, sorry I didn't reply. I did get your message but have been crazy busy. Next week?

I can't remember if anyone was up for seeing Tinker Tailor this week or not Blush. I was thinking of Friday evening, 8.30pm

sfxmum · 26/09/2011 23:01

FlubbaBubba · 27/09/2011 08:16

Thank you for all the recipes! More than enough to be getting on with and today I'll have my DD2 (almost 3) and The Boy (8m) to help :o

Kewcumber · 27/09/2011 11:07

if you have a problem you can borrow my bread maker on Thursday after I've finished my cakes.

sfxmum · 27/09/2011 11:13

oh yes Flubba the blessed little helpers Grin

I asked if I should bake for Friday totally thinking I would be told, no no there is plenty but apparently was told, if you could that would be great

Kewcumber · 27/09/2011 11:23

I know our class - we don;t have any handy bakers! As it is Mcmillan coffee morning day I decided to step up to th eplate but its been a while since I bakes!

Kewcumber · 27/09/2011 11:23

Off to the dreaded ALdi now...

FlubbaBubba · 27/09/2011 11:26

Thanks kew - I have a breadmaker so will be doing some banana bread etc. Electrician came this morning (for the whole of 2mins) and announced he'd have to order in something which may take another couple of weeks :(

:o sfxmum

kew I see your Aldi, and I raise you Ikea Shock, with three little people in tow Shock Shock :o

Kewcumber · 27/09/2011 11:30

oh now thats not just above and beyond the call of duty - that may well be certifiable. Shock

sfxmum · 27/09/2011 11:42

maybe Flubba means to loose a couple of them between the Malm and the Billys - good luck with the trek

kewC are you holding it at yours? because just down the road there will be a coffee morning on Friday, with a couple from your class

I am stuck doing boring stuff might just nip out for a little jog

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/09/2011 11:51

Hello!

Good luck with Ikea Flubba!

About to go and get DS1 for lunch. Wonder if he did ask teacher what is dangerous about having lunch in school. Grin We are supportive of school and do not question anything ever and never undermine authority of school. Grin Did you know tech teacher said if you have a computer you have Microsoft Word!? Shock Did explain after DH and I stopped laughing.

tillyfernackerpants · 27/09/2011 13:01

Flubba, good luck with Ikea, rather you than me Grin

Sfx, teaching dh Portuguese may end up like my dad teaching me to drive ie not listening, frustrating etc so probably best he goes somewhere else Grin

Have a poorly boy at home, had to go pick ds1 up from school because of earache. He's now in his pyjamas watching Scooby Doo.

Kewcumber · 27/09/2011 13:25

no its round near my mums - not good planning to have clashing coffee mornings (must scale back on industrial production of cakes...)

sfxmum · 27/09/2011 13:32

Thanks Grin Mn has gone soft

tillyfernackerpants · 27/09/2011 13:37

Must have got itself confused with netmums Grin

vbus · 27/09/2011 14:06

Sfx - thanks for the Flowers Grin

Flubba - are you sure you want to go down that route? Shock Are any of them old enough to go to smalland? otherwise could be an interesting day...
Sorry didn't get chance to post recipe last night, I'll dig it out soon. RL still going a million mph a la steppie's hamster wheel

Tilly - no worries, as it happened had to meet electrician and then architect so probably wouldn't have worked out. Hope DS1 feels better soon. Can't do cinema this week as will be going up north. I'm sorry can't do next Mon but how about Mon 10th oct Kidzone? Anyone else?

Copper - enjoy lunch, did you ever get to the bottom of the lunch ban?

vbus · 27/09/2011 14:07
