Hazlenut meringue or almond slice or plain apple and blackberry crumble?

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/09/2011 08:05

Can I freeze blackberries? (Easy option. Grin)

sfxmum · 08/09/2011 10:12

copper afaik most berries can be frozen then put into pies and crumbles Grin

grim and dismal and lots of stuff to do around the house, finally alone

sfxmum · 08/09/2011 11:06

copper blackberries

vbus · 08/09/2011 11:31

Tilly/Sfx - yes this is what I'll have to keep reminding myself when we have no real kitchen for 14wks Grin

Copper - we harvested about 20 green tomatoes, rest are starting to go rotten. What to do with green tomatoes? Probably will end up making chutney. Also need to make banana bread today as seem to have surplus of bananas

Sfx - how is running going?

Went to 1st birthday party this morning which was really cute!
Have to confess that I have started Christmas shopping Shock I hadn't planned to but just saw a few items when out so bought them Blush

vbus you are banned from the pretend to be be grown up mother's club (catchy title) for being far too sensible and efficient

re running sticking to plan but yesterday swallowed a fly made me gag and completely threw me off my stride

vbus · 08/09/2011 12:53

Sfx - LOL about fly, going to try and get to gym tomorrow.

I have to be organised this time of year what with our 4 birthdays coming up in Nov, most of our friend's/family/offspring birthdays spread Oct-Mar, and then Diwali and Christmas inbetween. Enough to drive me insane Grin

OP posts:
sfxmum · 08/09/2011 14:01

do not mock the old woman who swallowed a fly Shock

vbus · 08/09/2011 14:37

Please don't attempt to swallow any spiders, cats or goats or heaven forbid a horse

sfxmum · 09/09/2011 10:56

no flies today Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/09/2011 13:03

Probably all cowering somewhere hiding from the legendary fly-eating woman. Grin

sfxmum · 09/09/2011 13:13

no I think I came up against a revenge squad as they flung themselves mercilessly at my face

Kora how was it?

islandhaze I expect you will be glad to see the end of the week

dd cried a lot yesterday saying she has no friend I don't really know what to do

Kora · 09/09/2011 16:43

Hi everyone. Sfx - lovely to bump into you, nice to see a friendly face when we've had a day of meeting so many new people! Poor minisfx, it's a hard road being a kid sometimes; hopefully part of it is shock of adjustment after long school hols.

I'm also bit worried about my DD1. We survived school playdate. Lovely setting, excellent organisation, really friendly and competent teachers, but ever so slightly stressed out DD1. She was fine overall, but quite a few of the other children know each other, and she's gone from having a very settled circle of friends to... starting from scratch again. And she knows those other friends are all together in a school up the road. Bit heartbreaking to watch. I was very proud of her, she tried to play but often ended up by herself and on way home she seemed rather low. Ah well, I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Just have to get through it. Confused

vbus · 09/09/2011 16:49

Sfx - that is really Sad to hear especially when DD is naturally friendly and outgoing. I thought there were a few friends who she liked to play with? Is that other girl still causing problems? Hope you'll both feel better after the wkend break from school

I'm a bit more accepting of DS1 lack of social skills. He seems happy in his own way

On a more positive note he had his first night with pants on last night, long may it continue!

vbus · 09/09/2011 16:51

Kora - glad play date went well Smile. The whole friendship thing can be soooo tough and heartbreaking to watch. i think it does take them a while to adjust

OP posts:
sfxmum · 09/09/2011 17:33

vbus what is it with the pants? do you mean pff nappies or he just likes bare bottom?Grin

Kora lovely to see you, meant to add you looked great, the dress is a fantastic course for you, really suits youSmile your dd looked like she just wanted to get back to the safety of home, which is understandable
I understand the anxiety but in the end they will be fine and they start them slow. and she will have a lunchtime time buddy next term

thanks both on dd issue, today she came home with a friend, the other outcastGrin anyway I need to talk to her quietly over the weekend without making too much of it
I asked for suggestions on another forum (not Netmums fear not, just the OU parenting that is no more but kept together on FB)
I got a lot of reassurance from people with awkward childrenGrin

on other news in addition to the most recent module for my degree, I enrolled at college for a 5 week course on start ups in the care area particularly, I hope it is good, only one day a week, to be followed with bookkeeping course I think

vbus · 09/09/2011 19:36

I meant 1st night without pull ups O I'm v. proud of him! I waited a long time til I thought he was ready to try. I find it strange as ds2 been dry at night since start of the year though

Good luck for next stage of course, when does it start?

I got 'Men who stare at Goats' to watch tonight as they didn't have True Grit in

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 09/09/2011 19:56

vbus, yay for ds1! That's great news

Sfx, all sounds very exciting, guess you're looking forward to it?

In other news, I am worried about ds1. Since picking him up from school he's been complaining his tummy is hurting, he's eaten fine but still says its hurting all over. He's in bed now, will see if he goes to sleep but symptoms seem very close to appendicitis, just waiting for NHS Direct to call back. Anyone have any experience of appendicitis or do you think I'm worrying unnecessarily?

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/09/2011 20:01

tilly - Apparently if you have appendicitis you can't jump up and down. Hope it's not anything serious.

Kora - DS1 started school without knowing anyone. He made friends quickly and they have stayed good friends since. But I wasn't there to witness the process ...

Made tea for 4 grown-ups and 6 kids. Blackberry and apple crumble gone. Smile

sfxmum · 09/09/2011 20:08

Tilly as far as I know the classic symptoms of vomiting and fever are not always present in children so I think it is best to have it checked anyway, and it is worth remembering that appendicitis is more common in children, not to worry you unduly but best to keep a close eye imo
hope all ok

vbus well done to the boy Smile
the next module which is the bulk of level 2 starts 1/10 can't wait, I like to be busy, the short college thing starts on the 19th

copper I miss a good crumble must get some rhubarb

sfxmum · 09/09/2011 20:09

vbus about men who stare at goats I watched the documentary that John Ronson did before writing the book made me LOL

tillyfernackerpants · 09/09/2011 20:32

thanks sfx & copper, nhs direct said its quite a difficult thing to diagnose but will get gp to call just to double check. ds1 now sat watching a film with me

sfxmum · 10/09/2011 09:34

Tilly how is DS?

vbus · 10/09/2011 10:50

Morning

Tilly - how is DS1 feeling now? Hope it's not anything serious but agreed best to get it checked out

Sfx - Film was good, pretty wacky, you'd probably like it Grin We have some rhubarb in garden

Just back from zumba glad normal teacher back after hols, I really like her. We have this wkend and next to clear out garage and kitchen, so much to do, better get on with it
