Anyone?

OP posts:
BriocheDoree · 30/03/2010 19:33

Possibly...will you accept country bumpkins? (Out in the 78, me!)

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/03/2010 19:34

Yes, if you can brave the RER into Paris!

Another country bumpkin here (60) but I don't know anyone! Would like to say thank you in person to the nice people who have helped me out.

AuldAlliance · 30/03/2010 22:06

When?

I am hundreds of miles away, would have to TGV it. And organise babysitters, etc.

It'd be fun, though.

america · 31/03/2010 12:36

Ladies, I posted on the nanny/aupair threads as well but am after some local information regarding childcare in IDF. Could you help?

We are hopefully moving over from London in May and before deciding where to look for a house (somewhere along the RER A west line I should think as DH will work in Nanterre) I'd like to know which would be the best area to find a British/English speaking nanny/childminder? We are flexible as initially will be renting and would really like to find somebody nice for DC. And how does this work, does the local council have a list of childcare providers or is it all private? Thanks in advance.

frakkinaround · 31/03/2010 14:51

Do it in September! Please.....pretty please....

Why did we not have one of these last year?

america - I posted on your other thread.

darcymum · 31/03/2010 14:58

Can I come, I live in Devon?

BriocheDoree · 31/03/2010 15:52

Why not...?

MrsS, we are so far out that we aren't even ON the RER line...

Bonsoir · 31/03/2010 17:47

Yes, sure. And I'm sure teafortwo will be up for it as well .

Bonsoir · 31/03/2010 17:48

america - if you want to find English speaking childcare in these parts, I think you will need to use your own resources and hunt for an au pair or nanny on the internet. Australian are the best as far as I can see.

othersideofthechannel · 31/03/2010 19:17

What AA said, only not quite so far away!

rosietoes · 01/04/2010 13:05

Hello!

If it's in September, can I come, too?! will be just getting my Parisian 'pieds'

Sorry to break off on a tangent--Bonsoir & Mrs S, dd is 2 on wait list for school 'avec un grand espoir' (whew!)

Bonsoir · 01/04/2010 13:20

Oh good news, rosietoes! I'm sure she'll get a spot - the deadline for getting your money back for your reserved spot for your child for next year is next week, and I'm sure some families will bail out between now and then!

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/04/2010 15:10

Excellent news, Rosietoes! Looking forward to seeing you again.

Bonsoir - we are, I believe, near neighbours. Do you fancy a coffee some time?

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 01/04/2010 17:30

Yes, let's have a coffee - or even a glass of champagne! Next week good for me.

FarFarAway · 01/04/2010 21:28

can I come too? Also not on RER but can make it into Paris in just under an hour. How many Frenchies are there?

Bonsoir · 02/04/2010 08:49

Well on this thread there are:

MrsSchadenfreude
Bonsoir
BriocheDoree
flyingcloud
AuldAlliance
america
othersideofthec hannel
rosietoes
FarFarAway

and teafortwo is knocking about somewhere in the vicinity!

Weta · 02/04/2010 18:32

I think of myself as a Frenchie too... we now live in Luxembourg (about 10 mins from France!) and were living in the south of France before that.

poppy34 · 02/04/2010 18:35

can I come even though I'm only a part-time resident?

teafortwo · 02/04/2010 21:41

"And I'm sure teafortwo will be up for it as well "

BONSOIR!!!! HOW PRESUMPTUOUS!!!!

(...but of course she is soooo right I REALLY wouldn't miss it for the World!)

!!!!

Where's thereistheball? She would really like this too!

OK - Sooo... Where shall we do the meet up and when?

america - Perhaps you could put an ad for a nanny in FUSAC magazine? Be sure to put EMT if you want an English Mother Tongue nanny. Also ask frakkinaround because I think she has a few good nanny contacts.

By the way - Will you be living in central Paris or the 92?

frakkinnuts · 03/04/2010 09:26

I'm a Frenchie too!!! Technically.

Just because we got exiled from metropolitan France doesn't mean you're allowed to exclude me (although I'll admit it's unlikely I'll make it to the meetup but we are around in August/September).

And yes I do have good contacts in the nanny world, depending where you are and what you're looking for.

jamaisjedors · 03/04/2010 09:39

Hello,
I am about 2 hours from Paris, in Normandy, but not sure September would be ideal for me (back to work etc.).

Mind you I can just see DH's face if I tell him I'm off to meet lots of women I've chatted to over the internet

I will watch the thread, would love a day in Paris !

Bonsoir · 03/04/2010 11:08

You can lie to him, jamaisjedors, and say you are going to the Louvre... or something...

Doozie · 03/04/2010 12:57

I'm in Paris, count me in.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/04/2010 17:41

I will CAT you, Bonsoir.

Any ideas for where we should have this meet up, then? Or should I say, which BAR?
