Actually, we get really excited with new people. (At least I do)

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 03/08/2009 00:20

I thought I'd frightened everyone away. I have been fluffybunny for ages, I can change it if there's two bunnies, we multiply like wildfire you know.

dooneygirl · 03/08/2009 00:25

No, you haven't frightened anyone away. There's only a few of us on the list that are even in the hemisphere, or regularly post anymore. Are you somewhere in the states or therabouts?

dooneygirl · 03/08/2009 00:27

Just read your post, Kickass. You might as well live at the Dr. for a bit, I guess.

Glad you had a fun weekend.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 03/08/2009 00:28

No, I'm in the sunny monsoon UK.

mananny · 03/08/2009 08:11

Hello everyone hope Kickass et famillle are feeling better, or at least on the road to recovery rather than camped out at the Drs? And how are you SB? It's a slightly chilly but sunny morning here in France, am sat out on the veranda drinking very strong coffee. Slept 3.5hrs last night, no idea why so little... maybe I am psychologically prepping myself for working with a 6 week old next week. Either way I am not impressed, hate being tired for no good reason it just means the rest of the day is spent yawning.

So what's everyone else up to? I miss the hot sunny weather in Boston. My twins are at the beach now for the month and I am soooooooooooo

kickassangel · 04/08/2009 02:34

hi, fluffy bunny. of course you're welcome, we're a very open group. in fact, at least half of the regulars are in the UK (some more permanently than others), or sitting on a veranda in france.

hmm, i like the sunshine here, but missing trips to europe was one of my concerns when we moved. i heart france, and like trying to speak french, after un bier ou deux.

OP posts:
mananny · 04/08/2009 09:50

LOL at kickass! I speak French perfectly after half a bottle of wine

mananny · 04/08/2009 23:02

Where is everyone? This thread is so quiet now!

kickassangel · 05/08/2009 01:57

where is everyone? england! and therefore on a different time. between france & the Us west coast is about9 hours difference! you're starting a new day as we're all off to bed.

if you want a conversation, you'll have to shout louder!

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 05/08/2009 02:48

I think the departure of you and the Bunny hasn't helped this thread. Plus, Anorak and Cali haven't been around in ages. That leaves only a small few of semi-regulars and an even smaller few of regulars to carry on the thread. Plus it probably doesn't help it is summer and everyone seems to always be gone more in summer.

kickassangel · 06/08/2009 00:54

blimey, i'm exhousted. today has just been one long round of coffee, swimming & play dates.
dh has had the audacity to ask why i didn't get round to posting something. he has lived, just.

oh, well. tomorrow it's a trip to the recycling tip then more swimming & play dates! ti's wearing me out, even if dd still won't go to sleep.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 06/08/2009 20:18

Helloo! Just thought I'd pop in and see how everyone is doing on that side of the pond . We've been back in Blighty for nearly a year now and the time has really flown. It is therefore probably safe to remove me from the US list .

Our house is finally starting to feel too small so we are on the lookout for something bigger and considering putting ours on the market in the not-too-distant future. In September DS1 will be starting Year 1 at school; DS2 will be in his last year at nursery school so I am finally toilet-training him at the moment. We are off to see my family in NZ at Christmas, which will be 5 years since the last time - very exciting and daunting at the same time!

So that's all of our news - how are your holidays going and where is everyone?!

dooneygirl · 07/08/2009 00:54

It is 40 degrees cooler today than it was this day last week. I like today much better.

SuperBunny · 09/08/2009 21:56

What do you mean, you let me in, Dooney? I started these threads!

I forget who asked about parking at Chicago airports... I always just drove and parked in the long stays. They are easy to find.

Dinner is so sad

Earlybird · 09/08/2009 22:30

Hi all!

DD and I are currently in London and having a fab time. We've been to the Science Museum, Tate Britain, National Portrait Gallery, to see the people on the Plinth in Trafalgar Square, to the theatre to see 'Wicked', shopping on Oxford Street (where someone tried and thankfully failed to steal my wallet), overnight to Warwickshire, overnight to Winchester, had a picnic in one of our old favourite squares, and have met up with a few old friends.

It is exhausting, but we're enjoying ourselves tremendously. It feels wonderful to walk around a city again, and to use public transport as an alternative to being constantly in the car as we are in America.

Is everyone else having a nice summer?

Where are Anorak and Califrau? Haven't seen them posting in ages. Are they alright?

kickassangel · 10/08/2009 02:23

sb, why is dinner sad? is he missing 'home'?

today has been in the 90s, and very humid. we've had the air con for the first time, still running now as over 80 in the house (9.30 pm). have just had a monumental thunderstorm as well!

I had to go back and read what you were talking about, The Bunny, because I forgot ever saying that. You know I just say things like that because it makes me happy to tease you.

On a not silly note, what's up with Dinner?

I met Jabber tonight. So far I'm 3 for 3 in meetups. She's so friendly and easy to talk to. We had a boy at the table next to us get stung by a yellow jacket, so we were a bit rushed to leave, unfortunately, but they seemed to have started congregating around where we were.

Glad you're having fun in London, EB.

Earlybird · 10/08/2009 07:29

dooney - I met jabber when I first moved back to America, and she is lovely. You're doing pretty well for meet-ups!

We're off to dd's favourite soft play place later this morning. I expect it will be heaving - though perhaps we'll be lucky as the weather is good, so maybe not so many people looking for an indoor activity?

SuperBunny · 10/08/2009 19:45

EB, sounds like a fab trip.

Dooney

Dinner is missing his Daddy a lot and keeps saying he doesn't want to live in England anymore and doesn't want to go out and do nice things but would prefer to stay in bed I know he's missing his Dad and he does have a good time when we are out but it's not really a permanent solution. I just don't know how to make it better for him.

kickassangel · 11/08/2009 04:13

he will get over it & adjust.
have you had much quiet time, sometimes kids just like the 'normal' - if dd has too many days out she likes to just curl up with me & read/watch tv after a while. he prob just wants a new routine established.

hard to do atm, i know.

how are you fixed job wise? did you get a job, or do you have to wait til sep when people start going off sick?

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 11/08/2009 16:21

We're having quiet days too but he's used to being out and about and being busy. He's very happy pottering around in the garden and we spend ages sitting reading stories or chatting or playing with Lego etc. I think he just needs time but it's hard to see my baby so unhappy and not be able to do anything to make it better.

I have a job that starts in Sept and we have picked a nursery. We have a car and hopefully have found a place to live so we're getting settled, slowly.

Hope everyone else is ok. Jabber sounds so lovely

kickassangel · 11/08/2009 17:58

wow, you really are getting sorted. hurrah!

it's hard whilst they adjust, dd has struggled this year, but seems a lot better now. for her, going back to england & seeing people again helped, it made her realise that they hadn't just disappeared. obviously skype, emails, phone calls etc also help with that. i sometimes wonder what i've done, turning her into a 'transatlantic' kid. it sounds so exciting when other people do it, but the reality is just that life gets more complicated - and expensive!

he will get over it, and as time goes on, will accept this as 'normal'. in fact, at his age, he will only have blurry memories of his time in chicago.

Hi everyone, it was really fun meeting up with dooney and family. I'm so happy it worked out this trip.

So that makes me 2 for 2 after meeting up with earlybird last year

Still recovering from the trip. I am a total wuss at the quick turnaround to the coast thing. Yesterday I felt like I could sleep for a day or two...
