Hello SittingBull, welcome back

I had my birthday yesterday and my twins made me an amazing cake, chocolate with strawberry frosting yummy I was then informed by their Mum that the frosting had in fact been lovingly smoothed by hand and that those hands had been licked a couple of times between smoothings LOLOLOLOL.... so I think I've just boosted my immune system somewhat in eating it!!! It was scrummy tho, and what's a bit of extra drool??!!

Anyhoo am off to snuggle a chunky 6 month old today too, he's just started solids and seriously the little guy eats a ton. His mum is teeny, only 5 foot something and about 100lbs soaking wet and the baby is already 30" long and 20 something lbs!!!! I think he's going to be a football player LOL.

Have a great day everyone enjoy the sunny weather!

SuperBunny · 21/05/2009 19:45

Interesting, SB. I am imagining you to be and FBI officer or something. If you are not, please pretend you are

Mananny, not sure what to say about the cake. Am sure it was delicious. I pretend I don't see what DS does when we bake. And, if we are baking for other people, I do a batch that they can eat and DS does a bath for himself. What a huge baby! I cuddled a week old 6lb one yesterday and, for the first time ever, it didn't make me want one. Must be getting old.

Congratulations on your new job, SB.

Happy birthday mananny.

LOL at SittingBull!

I'm going to NYC on Monday for an interview, it's a lovely job, brand new baby when the position starts in August, good money, friendly and reasonable parents. It's in Holland but they are in the States atm. It would be so nice to get anew position sorted then I an enjoy the summer! My Agency did say I would be snapped up, let's hope they're right!

SB

Good luck Mananny - it all sounds ideal - interviewing in NYC then working in Europe after a bit of a break. Will keep things crossed.

Kickass, travelling will all be ok. I'm worrying about the same thing!

Dooney, you always have exciting things going on: interesting food, adventures to chocolately places, visits in the in-laws and stories about your lovely DC. I miss you!

I cleaned the house today! With my steam cleaner!!! Wow, that's interesting! (not)

I mean, man hugs, dude.

kickassangel · 23/05/2009 01:28

man hugs,

well, having found out we can get a letter notarized for free, i now have a letter of consent from dh to let me out the country with dd.

also, having seen that dd & I were separate sides of an aisle, on a fully booked plane, emailed northwest & thye told me that one row is reserved for families, and by phoning & talking to someone, i now hve dd next to me, so she can curl up & sleep on me. hurrah! she now won't have to be asking a complete stranger if she can sleep on their lap. honestly, i requested seats together, why would an airline NOT put us together?

panics over.

dh & i steam cleaned the house a few weeks after we moved in. made me feel v virtuous. spent most of today cleaning & doing the garden. sometime i ought to do some packing.

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 02:43

Man hugs back at ya, Dooney

I just found out that my friend is a notary and will notarise stuff for me. I now have nothing I need notarising, but tis good, I think!

What a relief, Kickass. I think I'd hope that someone on the plane would not want to sit next to an unsupervised 3 yr old and would swap with me. If not, what a lovely peaceful flight I'd have

nooka · 23/05/2009 03:25

What a lovely idea though kickass When we came over for our recce a couple of years ago I was with the kids one way and dh the other (the plane had three lots of three seats) being slept on by two children was not conducive to a comfortable flight!

dooneygirl · 23/05/2009 04:26

I don't think I've seen Cali not be on here for such a long time, except for when she was on vacation, ever.

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 04:48

I know, Cali's elsewhere these days

Signing in quickly before I curl up in bed. Busy manic work week, but thank goodness the babysitter is finally back. Just over a week to go to my vacation ladies, not that you'll miss me as I'm hardly on anyway. Shall look forward to scanning the thread on my return. Proud Mummy moment - both my boys got silver medals for completing a massive 57 miles over their 6wk fitness club. Think that means I did about the same - wow. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend, even we got let out early from work. Parties galore this weekend so off for beauty sleep now. Take care one and all. Happy Birthday Mananny. Congrats SittingBull - I've missed you and SuperBunny hope all goes well with you, I'll get on online over the weekend.

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 21:59

Wow Ali. Impressive!

Does anyone know if Target is open on Monday?

I need to gush about our new Whole Foods store. It opened this week so Dinner & I went to look. It is ENORMOUS! I think, the 3rd biggest in the world (the second biggest is in London, apparently). You walk in the door and there is a bar, a coffee place and a stage Further in, there is a wine bar and a food court. There were samples everywhere and lots of local things too from bakeries in the city and farms in the burbs. It even had a Feng Shui ceremony.

And, with it being new, everything was on sale so was cheaper than my usual green grocers. Hurrah.

yeah, but you do know that 'organic' over here doesn't mean the same as in the UK? it just means that it has had SOME organic stuff on it at some point, not that it's been 100% organic from start to finish.

still, tis lovely stuff, though. we have 2 near here.

SuperBunny · 24/05/2009 04:16

Yeah, I don't believe any food labels here. I saw something the other day that said '73% organic'

I have read far too many books on food production recently. I am taking a break and reading chick lit now.

We went to the Whole Foods in Long Island and weren't terribly impressed. It seemed to be very earnest and rather over priced. I wonder how well it's doing in the UK - it didn't really seem like there was much of a gap in the market there. I still slightly miss Waitrose, although shopping is much better here than in NYC.

kickassangel · 24/05/2009 04:21

i only go to whole foods when i don't need anything. then, i might buy a couple of treaty bits, but am not tempted to replace my normal shop with one from whole foods. gosh, how much would that cost!!

SuperBunny · 24/05/2009 04:32

Yeah, I wondered about how well it'd do in the UK. I only go there because I miss UK supermarkets and WF seems to be the nearest thing. But only when we don't need anything and we always eat before we go!

Very wise! When my parents visited we stayed n a cottage with them for a week and they bought all the food from Trader Joes. They were very pleased (and they are quite picky about their shops) and certainly the food for the week was very good.

chefswife · 24/05/2009 05:40

i miss waitrose. but we have a great grocery store in our area, Market on Millstream. its almost up there with Waitrose.
