we only got tv last week, so have been living in such a bubble, no newspapers or anything. i feel duty bound to watch some of it on tv, though i think dh might be more interested in watching football or rugby!
we are already discussing where we will have a 2nd tv, due to 'clashes' in viewing. once the 6 nations start, i won't be able to go near it!

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 19:08

I would love to have no TV. We have one but since we don't have cable, we rarely watch it except Desperate Housewives

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 19:08

When does the Six Nations start?

hello can I join? I've been reading along for a while, I found MN a while ago and LOVE it - its so refreshing I love it, especially the AIBU section I'm totally addicted - but way to scared to post. I have replaced my American Parenting site with MN and vowed never to visit any more American support sites.

I hail from Scotland but have been in CO for 15 years now.

Married to a American, have a little American - DS almost 7, he's the light of my life - still calls me Mummy - unless he is mad at me then he calls me MOM - with that annoying twang.

I keep trying to persuade my DH to move back - but he's not up for it. So I'm stuck - could be worse.

Hi all

I am tearing my hair out here trying to order a b'day pressie for friend's DD who lives in the Netherlands. Trying to use Amazon.co.uk, but various things I have tried to order have come up as 'not possible to deliver to the Netherlands'

Aaargh! ANy of you got good websites I can try for ordering toys/books from here in Seattle to be delivered in Netherlands?

Surely some companies on amazon deliver there? Am I being abit thick?

Hope you all have sunshine like we do today, it is very spring-like!

AL x

AnnieLaurie · 19/01/2009 20:01

ps...just been scrolling though posts to see what have been missing - all you guys talk about is FOOD!!!!

AnnieLaurie · 19/01/2009 20:03

Hello GenX - welcome! I am Scottish too (Edinburgh).

You will get on splendidly here if you talk about strange foods...

Now I have buried my original important post - please see below...

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 20:25

hello genx - alipiggie moved from Scotland to CO too

AL, could you use a european amazon like amazon.de?

Who's been talking about food? Not me.

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 20:30

Or, could you order and get it delivered here/ the UK then send it on in the post?

kickassangel · 19/01/2009 21:17

sb - 6 nations - umm, sometime in feb? kind of pretending it doesn't exist. i know dh won't once it starts. bless, he's SO exccited about it, but missing his best rugby friend - they used to meet up in pubs to watch matches. i have been known to drop him at a pub at 7 am when the world cup was in australia. they happily drank pints & had a full cooked breakfast whilst watching rugby at that time. madness.

kickassangel · 19/01/2009 21:19

i used this
and then added a little more heat.
yummy

AnnieLaurie · 20/01/2009 00:17

Oh, is anyone about - I am really coming apart at the seams today

kickassangel · 20/01/2009 02:22

AL - a bit late, but what's happening?

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 03:21

AL, what's happened? Are you ok?

OP posts:
AnnieLaurie · 20/01/2009 03:38

Hello - I am back, realised I posted at a silly time of day.

Oh, just had one of those days, in final (here's hoping)week of pregnancy. Had a bit of a wobbly afternoon, thought was going to pass out, and ended up plonking DS on sofa to watch tv for about 2 hrs while I lay there feeling horrendous and thinking 'I'm neglecting my son'.

Was just looking for sympathy... (seems to be all I do these days)

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 03:45

Oh, AL, I'm glad you are ok. Well, not ok, but am glad nothing terrible happened. I am sure a few hours in front of the telly is not the worst thing for DS. Give yourself a break - you are 9 months pregnant! Do you have any help? Hope the baby comes soon

OP posts:
kickassangel · 20/01/2009 03:46

no need to worry. dd is a tv addict. we are now using it as bribery to make her clean her teeth!! makes me a super bad mummy, i don't even have pregnancy as an excuse. i'm a full time sahm with NO other distractions, so should be there with arts & crafts, educational trips blah blah blah.
fox & the hound it is then!

kickassangel · 20/01/2009 03:50

btw, i have been playing games on facebook doing educational research, to relax after my first book club tonght, and flicking on here to 'refresh' the 'last 15 mins' every so often. to my surprise, there came up 0 threads one time
a first time for everything!

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 04:08

lol Kickass

about both posts

it all sounds so familiar

Although today, DS and I built and painted a wooden racing car - I think that is quite good. Makes up for the 3 movies we watched last week. I hope. At least in part. Doesn't it?

OP posts:
alipiggie · 20/01/2009 04:22

Oh someone else in Colorado. Starting not to feel so lonely any more . GenX whereabouts in Scotland? I moved here from Kelty (nuff said) but am English was married to a Dutch man. So rather cosmopolitan. Lived and worked in Glasgow/Edinburgh. Love Scotland, but would not willingly go back.

Food - yes please. Had a lovely Enchilada on Sat night

AnnieLaurie · 20/01/2009 04:23

Oh my goodness Sb - wooden racing cars - deepest respect, that is fantastic effort!!

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 04:30

AL, I only did the car because a lovely friend sent it to us at the weekend. I'd never have thought of it myself

Oh, tonight DS came to work with me and I left him in the playroom there for a few mins and when I came back, he was sitting on the floor surrounded by My Little Ponies, lovingly combing the tail of one of them. Made me melt (and giggle a little). It was SO lovely. I think I may have to buy him one.

Mmm, enchiladas. Some people came to work today to cook dinner - it was all meaty except the ratatouille but I thought I'd check so I asked if there was meat in it and the lady said "No. Do you not eat meat? The spaghetti only has chicken in it so you'll be alright with that. And the meatloaf is Turkey so you can eat that too"

OP posts:
alipiggie · 20/01/2009 04:34

So what with your ds and My Little Ponies and my ds2 with his bath fizzers - we definitely have boys in touch with their feminine side. (My 'U' is not working very well - so apologies in advance if words look weird)

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 04:35

Oh, we have bath fizzers too! We must get them together
