Maybe the (relatively minor) earthquake (that had no immediate reports of damage or injury) shook the baby right out of AnnieLaurie.

SuperBunny · 01/02/2009 04:16

Earthquake?

Yeah, am ok, thanks

I only wear imported socks. When I didn;t get any for christmas, my sister felt bad and sent me some. Next ones with colourful toes and heels. As always

When is Groundhog day? Monday?

nooka · 01/02/2009 06:23

Lol. I also have black socks with coloured toes and heels. But mine are from M&S. I didn't realise such things were hard to find

Congratulations Annie! Sounds like you had quite a night there! I hope all is going well.

nooka · 01/02/2009 06:25

Oh and we seem to be melting up here. Today was gorgeous - there was a little snow in the night and then it was clear and sunny and quite a bit over freezing. All the roofs are shedding their snow, and you can hear the sound of dripping everywhere. It really felt like spring was on it's way. I even bought some spring bulbs (which my cats tried to eat )

kickassangel · 01/02/2009 13:45

congrats annie. how come no pain relief? never got as far as giving birth (em cs) so don't understand at what point the choices end.

no black socks!! that's it, i'm packing my bags & heading home!!!

i have only ever worn black socks since i was about 12 (except in school, where they were banned). i have different kinds of black socks, different lengths & thicknesses for the various seasons. i tried some with different colour heels etc, but just didn't feel like me!
a begging letter to mother is needed, methinks.

jabberwocky · 01/02/2009 15:51

Congrats Annie!

Well, I'm sitting here feeling very American in a pair of these

But they are really warm and cozy and work so well with Birks...

I quite like those socks, Jabber. I have a thing about patterned socks/ carpets too. Not sure why. But, I'd wear anything if my feet were cold. I still draw the line at white socks though and I'm not sure I'll ever get over that.

Coloured toes and heels are good because you can match them to your outfit

jabberwocky · 01/02/2009 21:22

lol at cali

Okay, so if you don't wear white socks what do you wear with tennis shoes?

And what do you wear with Birks Cali? I mean, you are in California so you do wear Birks don't you???

though i am tempted by a pair of uggs, which suddenly seem so much less pretentious sleb wannabe, and far more ... warm!!
i finally succumbed (although haven't yet bought)mentally on the walking field trip last week, in -10C, plus wind, when the lcass teacher (who was wearing big proper boots, better than anything i own) said her uggs were so much warmer. the next day, dd's school bus was late & i just stood there for half hour thinking, i can afford uggs this year, and a decent jacket next.

SuperBunny · 02/02/2009 01:50

I too have avoided Birkies (my mother keeps trying to get me some) and tennis shoes. I have a pair of black trainers for running but would NEVER wear them for non sport activities.

I have looked at Uggs recently but am yet to be persuaded. They do look warm though. I have some Merrel snow boots and they are great. I quite fancy a pair of North Face lace-up ones if they go in the sale.

I've had a busy day of filing and cleaning and feel most satisfied now

I am in the process of making that 12 hr no knead bread. It seems a bit too easy and one of the things I love about making bread is the kneading.

jabberwocky · 02/02/2009 01:56

Birks are great!!!

Have to admit I don't wear tennis shoes anymore but still have a pair in the closet

jabberwocky · 02/02/2009 02:02

very of the filing and cleaning. I badly need to do both.

SuperBunny · 02/02/2009 02:06

Thing is, Jabber, there's more to do. It never ends!

I should probably think about my tax return too

I tried a pair of Brikenstocks on and they were soooo comfy. I might just have to give in. I'm still refusing the crocs though

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 02/02/2009 04:16

Congratulations, AL. I can wholeheartedly say that boys who come in a speedy labor with no pain relief are truly some of the best people in the world. They make up 2 of my 3 favorite people. (DH and DS)

Tell me how your bread turns out, Bunny. I worry about getting it off the towel. That is my one and only reason for not making it.

Cali, I kept staring at your post at 19:14:52 trying to figure out what butt hose were. Still giggling to myself about it.

SuperBunny · 02/02/2009 04:25

I giggled at butt hose too

Bread is not doing anything yet - but will report back in the morning. I do not have high hopes

LOVE Uggs, was smitten after finally put feet into a pair in office in Edinburgh 2 years ago. Don't care that feet look like sheep, they are heaven.

LOVE Birkies, esp with socks when no-one is looking

HATE being woken up every hour of the night to feed (but love, love love the little chap who does the waking)

HATE engorged, agony breasts.

HATE the constant worry that your little newborn is OK.

Kickass, was too late for epidural - when you are a certain amount of cm dilated, they can't give you anything and you just have to grit teeth and suffer.

Will get back to you all when have more time to comment on what I think about giving birth in US v UK...

By the way - have to just brag...re-sat my driving test on the wed afternoon, before giving birth the following morning.

Driving test and childbirth in the same 24hrs. do I rock or what?!

Was same witchy woman, but she was in much better mood. Think she was having a mega bad day when she failed me.
