Hi all

Where is everybody? It seems that all the old familiar Oz/NZ mners have wondered orf . . . shall we have some hellos?

I'll kick off

Hi there, I'm ClaudiaShiffer, I have two daughers and live in Adelaide, I am a Pom and have been here for 2 yrs. Mostly loving it. DH is an Aussie and is beyond delighted to be back in Oz after 10yrs in the UK.

Now your turn

Hey Claudia, how's it going?
I've been busy in RL so haven't posted in a while ...
I am ghosty, I have a son and a daughter and I live in Melbourne, via NZ first though.
Was in NZ for 5 years, been in Aus for nearly 2.
Melbourne rocks. We are having a Melbourne MN piss up meet up on Saturday - can't wait

ClaudiaSchiffer · 05/12/2008 02:57

Hey ghosty, how lovely to hear from you. I too have been busy in RL - got my parents staying for 4 weeks. Lovely 90% of the time, fARKING irritating for the remaining 10% which I guess isn't a bad ratio.

I am of your piss up meet up. We should do one here but I think there would be just 2 of us.

Hi ladeez, can I join in as a prospective Downunderer? Likely to be there in May next year now, if everything goes according to plan. Natch, I should now be in bed and will be in a few mins.

yawningmonster · 05/12/2008 03:01

Hi I am in ChCh NZ, born and bred. I have a ds who was 4 in September and number 2 is due on the 1st of May.

thumbElf · 05/12/2008 03:03

should have said I have DS who is exactly 1 year, 1 day and 1 hour old! And an Aussie DH who now can't believe he said he'd do another winter in the UK and is desperate to get back to NSW.

eidsvold · 05/12/2008 03:08

Hiya

I think I am the token aussie living in Aus - not some mad expat

I have three dds 6,4 and almost 2.

Live in Brisbane.

Spent most of my life in Aus living around queensland. Little stint ( 4 years) living in the UK.

LoremIpsum · 05/12/2008 03:14

Hi, I'm a hybrid living in Sydney.

Born in the UK, moved to Oz as a child, back to the UK, back to Oz. Then moved to London in early 20's, lived there for 10 years and 3 kids, now back in Oz.

ghosty · 05/12/2008 03:14

yeah, eidsvold - the problem with Australia is it is full of Australians .... boom boom .... lol
ThumbElf ... am I being thick? are you thumbwitch? You are coming to live in Aus and you didn't tell me?
That's great news ... where in NSW will you be?

sunnydelight · 05/12/2008 05:30

Most of the Sydney crew seem to have disappeared (or have organised their Christmas meet up off-line )

I'm Irish, in Sydney 18 months now by way of 18 years in the UK. Have three kids (15, 10 and 5) and a half English/half French DH.

sandcastles · 05/12/2008 08:16

CS, I c&p'd your line...

Hi there, I'm sandcastles, I have two daughers and live in Adelaide, I am a Pom and have been here for 2 yrs.

eidsvold · 05/12/2008 20:33

sunny - arfishy I think flew out today for a trip to the UK.

thumbElf · 06/12/2008 00:04

ghosty me old mucker - no, you aren't being thick, yes am Thumbwitch being seasonal, dontcha know!

Yes, we are aiming to move out next May sometime - we're going to Morisset, apparently the home to a vast number of British ex-pats and currently the fastest growing town in NSW. That isn't why we're going there though - MIL has a house there that we are going to rent off her!
So look out - I'll be coming to the next Crimbo meet up given half a chance!

2toddlersandme · 07/12/2008 22:54

Moving to Auckland next year so am really pleased to find this thread. 2 year old twins. Brought over by my job & potential mid life crisis (hugely premature obviously ).

ninedragons · 08/12/2008 22:16

Sorry, I have been offline for ages but it's not inclination, it's because Telstra are a bunch of crooks who wouldn't release our line to Optus for weeks and weeks. I would like it noted for the record that our connection has been live for nine minutes and I am on MN.

Australian FINALLY back in Sydney with Pommy husband and half-half daughter.

echt · 09/12/2008 08:30

Been living on Melbourne for nearly 3 years now. 13 year old DD. Lulalullabye, don't know about the good weather. DH was complaining about it (rainy and cool) to an Aussie today, who said: "How long have you been here, then?" On being told, he remarked that the last couple of summers had been uncharacteristically hot and dry. Feel torn between the correct "we need all the rain we can get" and the desire to have one hot and sunny day after another.

BriocheDoree · 09/12/2008 09:23

Hiya, I'm not in Oz, so this is a thread hijack, but I'm wondering if you people could help me...my sister is spending Christmas in Oz (with a view to emigrating to be with her OH) and I need to order presents for my nephew who wants some CDs. Is there an Australian equivalent of Amazon? Obviously I could order from Amazon.com and get stuff shipped but it seems daft - surely there's a website where I can order stuff directly in Oz.
Would be v. v. grateful... if one of you lovely folks could point me in the right direction.

lulalullabye · 09/12/2008 18:59

echt, I know what you mean. iguess in reality we would love a long hot summer with no rain but for the country's future rain is needed. I think the guarantee of a few hot days a year would be enough, it doesn't happen in the Uk

ninedragons · 10/12/2008 04:33

Fish Records seem to be all over Sydney and their staff are fantastically helpful, but I googled and could only see their classical department's order site.

You could try this lot but I've never used them myself so couldn't vouch for their delivery times or anything.

There are also branches of HMV all over the place but they don't seem to do online ordering - perhaps you could give your sister the cash and she could get him a gift voucher?

Shells · 10/12/2008 04:57

Wellington, NZ. Kiwi, but lived in London for VERY long time and back here since last year with English DP and 3 DCs, 7, 4 and 11 months.

superloopy · 10/12/2008 05:45

I'm another Aussie... I have a DD 4yo and DS 1yo. DH is a Brit and we are in Melbourne. Have been back in Aust for 18mo after 10yrs in London.
