Wow we filled the thread guys. So as I was about to Say UR you've probably had squirrel if you've eaten Chinese . Think I've had most things. Just don't ask eat. Roasting hot here, very busy but having a blast. Enjoyed our new gym yesterday and picnic in the park tonight which was wonderful. Live music, handsome young men - need I say more.

It is quite painful, but the doctor didn't seem to think it was that big a deal, and it will go away on it's own. Thankfully it's just the one lung affected, and I now have some painkillers/anti-inflamatories, which helps. I do slightly wonder whether if I had gone to the doctor with the terrible cough that came before the pleurisy (presumably causal, although I don't really know) whether I'd have it now. However our health insurance had run out, so I didn't feel it was really an option. Not a good feeling!

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 17:59

Thanks Dooney. Will see what I can get. Lots of payless's here so will have a look on Friday. Are you ok now?

about health insurance, Nooka.

mananny · 19/11/2008 20:28

Health insurance is a b*tch. Not only is it expensive, it never bloody covers anything anyway!!!!! I had to pay $1400 for all my pre-college immunizations/blood titres. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Then I had the audacity to fall off a sidewalk (sorry PAVEMENT) and had to get xrays, an aircast, and be on crutches for a few days. That cost me $1800. As it wasn't a Proper Emergency. FFS.

Sorry. Health Insurance is a sore subject for me. And because I am an international student I HAVE to have the college mandated one. Which never actually covers anything useful. If I got hit by a taxi cab (sadly probable here in Boston) I would be covered, in that they would repatriate my remains. Geee, thanks, thanks a lot.

Not.

nooka · 20/11/2008 00:05

dh was in between jobs (hence the insurance being stopped), now we are in Canada it's not such a big deal. I previously worked in the NHS and thought it was a very good thing. Now I think it is the only civilized approach to healthcare.

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 00:33

I never appreciated the NHS until I moved over here. I'm lucky that my health insurance seems to cover most things. I don't know what I'll do when I can no longer be on ex's. Not get ill, I suppose.

It's cold. Brrr.

jabberwocky · 20/11/2008 00:40

I have an individual policy for myself and the dcs that is only $296/month. I did go with a rather high deductable of $1500 but other than that it's actually really good coverage.

dooneygirl · 20/11/2008 00:41

The kids are alright, I'm sure I'm much better off than nooka right now, so I won't complain, SB. I don't do well on any medicine, and the Sudafed and guaifenesin are just killing me. I almost ruined our pork roast because I was going to put plastic wrap over it instead of aluminum foil when I put it in the oven.

anorak · 20/11/2008 01:18

Sorry I didn't get around to the meal ideas before I left Bermuda. If you remind me around the 2nd week in Dec sometime I will post some stuff for you.

Mananny have emailed you.

Can anybody tell me where I can buy a Wii in Boston? And a good place to buy a laptop? I have to do it tomorrow as I am being operated on at 7.30am Friday.

Thank you. x

It's been a while since I was in Boston so I can't really help, I'm afraid. How are you anorak?

For laptops, I'd look for a circuit city, bestbuy or Apple store.

I didn't know that about Sudafed.

dooneygirl · 20/11/2008 01:30

That's okay, anorak. I'll be thinking of you Friday. I'll be happy to take anything I can get, but have found some recipes, and have thought about some I have that can very easily be made meatless.

I have the now-prescription-required-in-Oregon pseudoephederine kind. It always makes me loopy. Anything that isn't Tylenol or Motrin makes me loopy or tired. I keep smiling at my shoes today.

mananny · 20/11/2008 01:54

Anorak, there's a Best Buy in the Cambridgeside Galleria, has some pretty good bargains. I'll go and check my emails

nooka · 20/11/2008 02:24

I'm not too bad at all Dooney, thanks for being so nice! dh takes pseudoephederine to increase his metabolic rate when weight training (ephadrine itself is banned as it killed a few people) I've never noticed it making him smily!

Good luck with your op anorak!

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 04:05

Feel better soon, nooka

Why is NJ the Garden State?

dooneygirl · 20/11/2008 04:12

That has got to be one of the best questions, ever, SB. I thought the same thing years ago when driving down the turnpike. Maybe "garden" is secretly a synonym for "multiple nuclear waste dump sites"?

I realized I have really low standards. I had a very happy day today, just because Caitlin came and told me she was tired, so I got to take a nap with chubby little hands around my neck, we had a really good dinner, Colin told me I take good care of him, and DH gave me a head rub. And that isn't even me counting being happy with my shoes.

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 04:29

What a lovely day, Dooney. It's little things like that that make everything worth it.

dooneygirl · 20/11/2008 05:13

Have you come across this website Superbunny? I thought of you when I found it. Actually, I found it a while back and though "this looks good, but it's vegetarian, pass." I've changed my mind.

Is just me tonight, or are there lots of veggie recipes out there that use butternut squash?

nooka · 20/11/2008 06:33

We lived there for a month, and it is very pretty. Lots and lots of flowering trees (it was spring) very manicured. Of course you have to avoid the urban parts!

jabberwocky · 20/11/2008 13:47

Sounds like a lovely day to me dooney

Thinking of you anorak, especially tomorrow.

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 19:05

Anorak, did you find a computer?

Dooney, never seen that site but it looks interesting. I don't really like squash so I never cook them (apart from a couple round Hallowe'en time)

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 19:42

I've been pondering something for a while...when I write, I always use English spellings (colour, flavour, realise, mum etc). Do you think it is a bit disrespectful to do this? If I am emailing an American, should I spell things their way? I do usually refer to other mums as 'mom' but I am always 'mum' and I think that is ok but what about the other words?

nooka · 20/11/2008 20:28

I only use UK too, although expect to change when (if) I get a job. Poor dd got into trouble for writing Mummy at school just after we arrived. Not helped by me saying that I was not Mommy, but that other (American) mothers were moms. She was a little confused as she loves to please her teacher, but she didn't ant to upset me

anorak · 20/11/2008 21:30

Hello all, thanks for your advice. I didn't manage to get to any of those places today but I have decided that I am panicking too much. I am going to be here for 2 more weeks after my op - surely I will feel well enough to go out shopping again by the end of that?

I will use the time after my op when I am resting at the hotel to google and to go through the phone book and find out where I can get the laptop my daughter wants and then even if I go straight there and straight back in a taxi I can do my best to get the one she wants.

We did manage to get a Wii today, which I am very pleased about

Tonight's my last night with one tit, then. Strange to think it!
