Does anyone work in NEOM?

I’ve changed my name for this as I’ve not mentioned my plans to my sisters, who I think are on here.

I’m thinking of finishing my career in Neom. One year would give me a huge income boost. I already live in a nearby country and visit Neom for work so I know all about the disadvantages geographically and the accommodation etc and the ethical and geopolitical situation so no need to mention that.

My husband would move with me and work remotely. My question is, is there a coworking space set up yet for spouses? He wouldn’t want to work from our cabin all the time. This would be a dealbreaker.

I know someone who works there. I'll ask.

My husband is there, there is a Starbucks in Neom 1. He hasn't been as the coffee they provide is good. I would check to see where you would get a cabin or if you would get a 2 bedroom apartment (rarer than hen's teeth) or if they would accommodate you off site which would mean a 90 min commute. My husband is in Neom 2 and the air conditioned bus to the office is 45 mins. I can ask him if there is anywhere specific your husband could work.

I know it’s not your question, but I am amazed to discover this place actually exists! I thought it was just a futuristic piece of marketing.

If you already live in the region, I'm sure you are aware of the, err, lack of deadline urgency.
The "family compound" due to be finished for DHs work shortly after we arrived in 2015 is still a work in progress. So, whatever state it is currently in is likely to be it for your stay. Don't listen to the glossy advertising speil!

Omg, responses!! To answer assorted queries, we would be in married one-bedroom accommodation (kids all adults and living elsewhere ). Pay is amazing, as are benefits, as are disadvantages. I work in construction consultancy, so know how mental neom is and I’m prepared for that. I could come on my own and travel to DH every weekend, but it seems pointless to pay for two rents when he could work from anywhere.

I could earn in one year what I could earn in 4 years in the rest of the ME and in 15 years in U.K. But it also might be the death of me.

Anyone else unnerved by NEOM?
