It's been some time since we all shouted 'here' so can I do another?

Anyone in Oz (Oh, OK...NZ too) or coming in near future please say 'I'

Thanks!

I - soggy in brisbane

AnnainNZ · 26/06/2007 07:35

I - bit chilly but v happy in Auckland (as you're letting NZers in!)

ShrinkingViolet · 26/06/2007 07:39

can I lurk please - we may be moving to Sydney, but don't know yet.

robinpud · 26/06/2007 07:53

Brr.. brrr.. me in rainy old Sydney!

sandcastles · 26/06/2007 11:36

Hi all...

shrinking, feel free to lurk...what's holding you back?

Getting soggy here too, we're in for frost tonight!

robinpud · 26/06/2007 11:56

We're coming to Adelaide in October Sandcastles so it's better be warm then!

ShrinkingViolet · 26/06/2007 12:10

sandcastles - it's dependant on DH actually gettign the job he's in discussions about! However, he's asked the recruitment agency to sound out some other potential employers, as my amazing factfinding research and powers of persuasion have convinced him that it might be quite a good idea.

robinpud · 26/06/2007 13:31

Shrinking violet- make sure if you come to Sydney he is on as whopping a salary as possible. It is vv exp here. Only 32% of immigrants to aus are now choosing Sydney rather than 42% a couple of years ago.

sandcastles · 26/06/2007 13:39

Robin...for a visit or to live? I can't remember last October....think it's spring, so warming up....

OP posts:
sandcastles · 26/06/2007 13:40

Shrinking....ohhh. good luck.

We reach our 1 year anniversary tomorrow....can't believe it!

No regrets!

OP posts:
eidsvold · 26/06/2007 23:09

sandcastles - dh had his third anniversary a couple of weeks ago. Around the time he became a citizen.Def no regrets on his part.

vizbizz · 27/06/2007 00:06

hi, I'm an Aussie living in NZ, and hoping to return to Aus in a couple of years

ghosty · 27/06/2007 01:29

I - In Melbourne ... cold and wet ...
surrounded by boxes (our container finally arrived on Saturday, after weeks in storage in Auckland, then a week on the Tasman, then a while at melbourne's port while the customs men had fun with my bits and pieces ) ...
I have been unpacking for days and it still looks like a Bric-a-Brac shop ... [grrr]

ghosty · 27/06/2007 01:32

Feeling a bit homesick for Auckland I have to say. I have been a bit under the weather (had a migraine yesterday, first in a year - a shocker! And DH still had to go to work while I was throwing up ... I miss my friends as they would have helped me out - haven't got anyone here yet that I can call on) And I miss seeing the sea. How's Rangitoto looking AnnainNZ?

sandcastles · 27/06/2007 04:11

Ghosty, sorry to hear you are feeling homesick...I am a bit today too, as it has been a year for me since we made the move.

Doesn't feel like it tho.

Hope it passes for you soon.

OP posts:
suzywong · 27/06/2007 04:14

Buck up, ghosty, there's a dear

DCsnatchsunhill · 27/06/2007 04:55

I'm here in freezing cold Melbourne!
Ghosty - hope you're feeling better. Have been off-line for the past few days (no bug in computer, just roped in to doing a million days of Kinder duty grrrrr).
Will e-mail you tonight when dc's in bed and I can think straight

AnnainNZ · 27/06/2007 05:35

Rangitoto looking fine last time I saw it Ghosty. Lovely clear day today but a bit on the chilly side - was 8 degrees in my kitchen this morning! Lot worse in South Island though. What is it with no central heating and insulation in this country...

ghosty · 27/06/2007 07:30

LOL - they're a hardy bunch the kiwis ... you just need to look at the All Blacks ... not like the pansy Aussies [tongue in cheek not wanting to upset all my aussie MN mates]

Suzy ... just having a pity party for 5 minutes ok? I'll be back to my bouncy self as soon as you can say Vegemite

robinpud · 27/06/2007 09:04

Ghosty= you missed your own thread!!

Thwere's something called MY MATE which is in Cole which is deff Marmite for all you homesick ones.

Check the BBc weatherwebsite if you are really homesick and remind yourself what British summer is!

Hope it all passes soon!

ghosty · 27/06/2007 22:37

LOL robinpud ... not homesick for england ... felt a bit homesick for New Zealand and my friends ....
But I will always have the view of the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto in my mind so I don't need to be there to see it ...

See, Suzy, am fine now ... ready to rock and roll and take the world by the horns again ... can't keep a ghosty down for long you know

ghosty · 27/06/2007 22:42

robinpud ... i owe you an email don't I? Sorry, been a bit crap at correspondence recently ...
Will catch up soon

thequeenofcontradiction · 27/06/2007 23:10

Hellooooo!

We (me, DH and 8mo DS) are moving to Perth in October! We got our PR visas a couple of weeks ago and now it's the mountain of planning (shipping, cat shipping, etc...)!

sandcastles · 28/06/2007 02:15

Good luck, thequeenofcontradiction!

We are a mine of useful (I think) information, many of us having done what you are doing.

Please call on us for advise, should you need.

We finally land in Sydney tomorrow night (currently in Singapore) so I thought I'd better say (almost) "here" before I lose my internet connection! Luckily as DH is in IT I'm hoping I'll be back online quickly. I still can't stop grinning every time I see that beautiful permanent resident visa in my passport.
