overrated u still about

dooneygirl · 03/10/2007 02:45

I'm guessing someone had a name change while I was gone???? Someone who likes making lists maybe?

OverRated · 03/10/2007 02:55

Shhhhhh!

dooneygirl · 03/10/2007 03:00

He he he he he he. (Sorry, have been up since about 3 in the morning Boston time, and am a bit silly)

Have I missed anything good this week? Everyone seems really quiet.

OverRated · 03/10/2007 03:09

Nope, it's been really quiet. Have you been to Boston already? How was it? Clam chowder?

dooneygirl · 03/10/2007 03:16

Yeah, I don't do clam chowder. We did do Maine lobster, though, and that was great. Rhode Island was too hot, Maine was very pretty and Boston was really fun. The kids did great beyond belief, and apart from our luggage not making our flight from JFK to Boston everything went great. (and they had our luggage delivered to our hotel before we were awake the next morning).

OverRated · 04/10/2007 03:59

Oh, traveling is such a pita. Glad your luggage arrived not long after you did though.

Where is everyone else?

dooneygirl · 04/10/2007 04:51

Yoohoo. . . .everybody else, where are you?

alipiggie · 04/10/2007 05:16

Am here, but been busy trying to get to grips with multiple spreadsheets for work and wayward 4yr ds . The life of a working mum. Beautiful here in CO, although snow forecast for the weekend, great for the boss, not so great for the plans. Waves hello to all over US Mums.

I only know local places for breakfast unless you fancy somewhere like IHOP?

They do need to do something about the Stanford mall's website. I read crematorium & fountain too.

Earlybird · 05/10/2007 04:03

Hi ladies - sorry to have been away so long. Hope everyone is well.

Anyone know about spiders? I've just come home from a supper out, and the babysitter met me at the door with her story of the very large brown spider she and dd discovered crawling up dd's bedding. The babysitter killed it/flushed it, and then stripped the bed to make sure there weren't any others around. She also checked all around/under the bed and didn't see anything else. The entire house was just sprayed for bugs on Saturday, so I don't know how that thing was inside/alive.

Anyone know anything about spiders, and how to get rid/prevent? My skin is crawling wondering how it got in, and whether there are more around....haven't seen any, but still. Any advice?

DD is sleeping in my bed tonight. EEEEEKKKK!!

OverRated · 05/10/2007 04:11

Sorry, can't help. You would look in the Audubon Guide to see if you can identify it. I only know that we don't have any poisonous spiders in Illinois but that doesn't help you. Or maybe I'm thinking about snakes. No idea actually [very confused emoticon]

Hope you get some sleep.

Earlybird · 05/10/2007 04:37

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been googling to see what I can find out.

I think the babysitter had (has?) some sort of spider phobia, so she spoke at length about spiders, and attempted to reassure me the one she killed wasn't poisonous. Still, I shudder at the thought of spiders in the house....and even worse to think of them climbing up onto/into dd's bed (or mine for that matter).

The babysitter kept making a circle with thumb and index finger to show me the size of the spider. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Hi there, Stateside. Can you help ? I want to buy a buggy and have it delivered to my sister in Seattle for when I visit in a months time. Can you recommend an American 'Mothercare' or similarly reputable company with internet option ?

Many thanks, in advance.

OverRated · 05/10/2007 23:58

Spiders, mountain lions, wow - what an exotic place we live in

Barefootand, have a look at the following sites:

amazon
babiesrus
target
walmart

Target is usually my preferred store.

There are other places that my friends have used, such as joggingstroller.com but I don't know much about them.

HTH

dooneygirl · 06/10/2007 00:31

We had a cougar on the hill behind us running amok for a few weeks. We also had black widow spiders. Personally I was much more afraid of the possibility of contact with the spiders.

Earlybird · 06/10/2007 03:17

Exterminator coming back out to respray the house on Monday. The service chap thought I'd be reassured when he said the big ones are generally OK, but it's the little ones that can be dangerous.

OverRated · 06/10/2007 03:24

Very reassuring, Earlybird!

Earlybird · 06/10/2007 03:40

Cougars, mountain lions, spiders, etc. - my goodness! Here's another to add to the collection: My cousin's housecat was probably eaten by a coyote a few weeks ago - at least, that's what they think happened based on evidence found in their yard.

All this is quite a change to the pigeons and rats that frequent big cities!

alipiggie · 06/10/2007 03:46

I've squished a Black Widow before . They scare me much more too, at least you know the Bears and Cougars are deadly. You forget "small and deadly" . Loads of Coyotes here, which is why our Kitten is an indoor not an outdoor one.
