US hasn't been mentioned and there is a lot not great about it, but we live in California and overall it's a good life - safe, generally great weather, like the UK just check your school districts for good schools - my DS is in a great one but if we'd lived a few streets over we'd be in a shitty local school - English speaking obviously and access to the rest of the States to explore.

I personally want to move home in 3-5yrs purely for emotional reasons and because I feel so far away from Europe (and the world, America can feel very insular despite living in a diverse part of it) but we have a great quality of life and DC and DH love it here

Bermuda? Lots of expats send their kids back to UK for school in the senior yrs but not all.
We lived there when we first married eons ago, dh was ACA. Loads of opportunities . Very expensive tho.

Not Perth ... Oil snd gas has ground to a hault, projects shelved, redundancies .... Everyone's jumping ship

Laptop, is Thailand still considered cheap? Dh is expecting an offer any day (yesterday to be specific) and the biggest issue for us is the 40% tax. We don't pay headline tax at the moment in the ME. Also the expat allowances are less, but we shall see. The company seems to want him badly so I guess they will pay in the end fingers crossed.

Oh and op, I second? Third? The Middle East.

I love Singapore. I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea and housing is very expensive but it is warm, safe, has low tax and good schools.

I grew up as an expat kid in eastern and Southern Africa and loved it.

Would go back like a shot if dh's job allowed it.

Used to work in FS in Singapore - credit control is an area that is needed.

Singapore is very safe, pretty dull and like living in a bubble at times, but great for families.

If you are looking at Asia then Hong Kong, where I am, would not suit you as the locals are definitely not known for their consideration for others! Nobody will even hold a door open for you here. It's also very polluted and not generally seen as great for bringing up kids.

Singapore on the other hand is friendly, clean, has great food and many many expat families. I'll leave it to those who actually live there to tell you more but sounds like it could be just what you are looking for.

Have you rules out going back to Australia?

It really depends on your skill set and where your best job opportunities lie.
