Where would you like to live?

Given the chance, where would you choose to live? Would it be where you are now or a place you lived in before? For some reason, Malaysia has always appealed to me. Although I'm not sure if I would feel safe there nowadays.

Oh .. somewhere with a better climate than the UK that still speaks English and can give the children an outdoor lifestyle and a great education ....

Australia.

In fact we have just started the migration process :-)

Whereabouts in Oz? My sister married an Australian and she's been settled there for years. Takes a while to master the accent but she's getting there now.

Sun, sea, mountains,(both within driving distance) wine, oysters, culcha, great architecture......

Somewhere (as another person said )where the climate is better. Where you can ski in the winter and have a really hot summer too. Loved the French Alps skiing, and would love to go there in the summer to see how hot it gets.
If not there then Greece.

BIL lives there and I am very jealous whenever I speak to him

But I hate all the creepy crawlies there.

Also, it will be awful for my mum and dad not to see my girls, they can't afford to fly.

Dh is always going on about us emigrating so I think it is a distinct possibility.

Melissasmummy .. we are still at the skills assessment stage ... another 18 months before we get there -

June ... I'm envious.

OO we had all the paperwork done, spent money on visas, medicals etc, as we were going to move to Freemantle, we had even got house sale lined up and somewhere to stay in Oz when we had a series of things happen to us and we did a gigantic u-turn and ended up staying

i know how you feel about it all, i still want to go

its very difficult

kaloo20, we got thru on a former resident visa, DH lived there for 18 years after his family emigrated there in 1970. He wasn't a resident tho, hence the having to apply to go back.

We decided last August to go & finally lodged our application late Nov, got accepted early Feb.

Why does your way take so long?

I don't know anything about the type of visa you are going after, it just sounds a long time to have to wait. Who told you it would take that long?

Gosh, I'm hoping that's not right Kaloo20. We're also going through the skills assessment at the moment and I'm hoping to be there to start the new school year in January though I realise that might be a bit tight. I was basing this on 12 weeks for the assessment and the fact that the guy DH will be working with got his visa in three months once he submitted the application. Whereabouts are you going? We're heading for Sydney.

I would like to go back to Australia too. In fact, I've just resumed my visa application. I already have a spousal temporary resident visa. Alas, things have gone slightly awry with that in the last couple of years Sad. I can but hope...

Spain, Oz or Nz. Seriously want to go and have looked into it to a certain extent, but find it a headache getting to the real facts on employment / housing etc. It's hard to move with a young family, we can't just "get up and go" anymore as we did when we left the big smoke for Conrnwall 6 years ago!
