Where would you like to live?

Given the chance, where would you choose to live? Would it be where you are now or a place you lived in before? For some reason, Malaysia has always appealed to me. Although I'm not sure if I would feel safe there nowadays.

I want to go back to Italy. I'm from Milano, i know, it's not exactly a beautiful city, but I miss it and I miss my friends and family.
I'd also like to live in New York, Amsterdam and Barcelona.

yes, been back in the Uk for a year now. It's good and I like seeing family etc and it's impossible really to go back abroad as ds1 is always getting sick but I do pine for my old life

Franca70 - Milano is a beautiful city! I could sit for hours in Piazza del Duomo and just people watch! And the Duomo itself is just spectacular, and Milan looks more beautiful from it's roof!

I'm gonna apply for a passport again and go back again now! Smile My mother used to work out there so I had regular (and cheap!) vacations.

Thanks Blunderwoman, that's really kind of you! I DO think Milan is beautiful, but you know, it's not the mpst immediate destination you would think of when going to Italy...
Anyway, hope you'll get your passport soon. I'm going in 2 weeks for a few days.

Franca70 - Venice is simply beautiful, Rome is too busy and full of tourists and touts trying to rip you off (and I was robbed in Rome so that kinda puts me off!). Anywhere in Italy really!

Blunderwoman, sorry to hear you got robbed in Rome. It is a very busy city as much as it is breathtaking at times. My heart (apart from milano) belongs to Palermo though.
Californifrau, you're house will be magnifica. Where about are you in California?

Ahh Rome! Too dusty for me to live there but it's a great place, so much history. Never forget showing my plane ticket to an elderly nun at Leonardi DaVinci airport (I was late and thought I'd miss the plane). She grabbed my suitcase and charged off down the aisle screaming something in Italian. About 5-6 airport staff took off running after her, and I brought up the rear. She was amazing, made sure I got the plane all right.

at the moment going back to italy and to milan in particular seems impossible. so it's just a dream really. I also dream of living in NY and in my dreams I wouldn't need to stress about anything...
In RL I manage to get stressed in SW England...

My DH grew up in Fiji. He promises to take us back when the boys are older. Sounds idylic but such a long way away. My parents would be heartbroken. His uncle has been tempting us with a beautiful farm in Canada thats for sale. All just pipe dreams I think.

Vancouver - stayed with a distant relation a few years back for a month and it was GLORIOUS! Beautiful city - the setting is gorgeous with the water and mountains and of course ski-ing too!! Only downside is that it rains as much there as it does here (if not more!!)

Point Lonsdale, near Geelong & Melbourne. Modern beach house, just a short walk from the lovely cafe that sells good coffee, delicious beef sandwiches, chickpea burgers and ice cream and is opposite new park with play equipment which is, in turn just up the little slope from the beach which is calm and child friendly, but just round the corner, past the light house are the rough wild beaches of the Bass Straits.

Would go, but all 5 doting grandparents are in their 70's and just couldn't break so many hearts!

I would like to live in Italy, but not to close to dh's family :-)
we choose to stay in UK as oldest child is 11 and settled in, I don't want to live in the remoted place in the south of italy my husband is from, amsterdam ( where i'm from) my husband would have to learn the language...we are staying in the uk ..
when the children are older (long time as am pregnant again) would like to live a few months everywhere!

Australia, another one here going through the visa process, just completed the skills assesment which was fine so starting the main application now. We are heading to Sydney. We have spent 2 long extended holidays in Sydney, one for 3 months and one for 1 month, the 1 month one with my 2 dd's. Love the outdoor lifestyle which they seem to achieve all year. I have a godparent in Australia and FIL is in NZ.
