Well, the seller who tried to illegally break our lease... thanks to the advice here and from our rental agent, we called her on that Grin

Not sure when we meet new owners - we haven't heard a thing officially yet. Hopefully they'll realise we're good tenants and it all goes smoothly.

vvviola · 22/07/2012 12:19

Oops justabout missed your message earlier. No problem - I had thought that might be the case but was going to check in the morning to confirm.

Hope the patient is on the mend...

That's good news- particularly if you will be home more than normal with injured DS. At least you aren't missing summer I guess.

vvviola · 26/07/2012 08:05

I know they say kids get sick more if they are in daycare, but DD2 is trying to prove it true before she properly starts.

She's done 2 weeks & 1 week of "settling in". In the past month she has had: croup, bronchiolitis, ear infection & throat infection. All one after the next. We're halfway through her second course of antibiotics. Sad

I'm just so glad we're in NZ (although the doc did miss the ear infection first time), if I'd been in Ireland all the doctors visits would have bankrupted me by now!

WhatSheSaid · 26/07/2012 19:10

It'll be worse because of winter too viola, loads of bugs around.

Dd2 just got me up at 5 20 again .

AB, if you're reading, hope you're doing ok.

thelittlestkiwi · 28/07/2012 07:07

AB- you are still in my thoughts.

Anyone else feeling homesick today? Doesn't London look amazing? And so multicultural.

vvviola · 28/07/2012 07:38

Likewise AB. Sending you much love.

I wasn't homesick as such - but DH and I spent a lot of time in London when we first met, so I did get a bit misty eyed. Grin

I also got a bit worked up on behalf of the Northern Irish athletes. (not really, just a bit bothered). I mean the name of the country is the UK of Gt Britain & N Ireland, right? And NI compete with the UK in the Olympics, right? So doesn't it seem a bit like they are being ignored by calling it Team GB.

I'm over-thinking it aren't I? Grin I really need to get out more.... Grin

Was a fab ceremony though. Was v impressed!

Thinking of you too AB x

Missed most of the opening ceremony in order to avert a tantrum over watching peppa pig Grin I like watching the gymnastics, but that's about it really.

Had a fantastic warm weekend down in welly. The winters are certainly milder here.

AngryBeaver · 30/07/2012 06:58

Ok, I know I just said I wasn't contributing for a while,but...
Does anyone know anything about Beach Haven? I have heard it had a bad rep,but is up and coming? Also,Bayswater...any info?
Although this is awful timing, Dh is really pushing me to pick somewhere to live. I can't be bothered with anything at the moment. Let alone this. But dh is having stress related chest pains (at 33!) over everything, and wants to change jobs. So just scouting about

AB Bayswater is nicer than Beach Haven imo. Beach Haven isn't terrible or anything but I think would be described as up and coming rather than desirable. Bayswater is right next to Devonport which is a very nice area. Only PITA about Bayswater is it's on peninsula with Devonport and only one road in and one road out so v busy at rush hour. But if dh is working in CBD there is a ferry from Devonport so roads in and out don't have to be an issue.

any chance you can get to Auckland to do a recce of the areas?

AB - hello. I looked at Bayswater when we arrived as it looked lovely on the web. Not sure why but just didn't love it when I got there. One road in and out is true and sat in traffic for about 30 mins trying to get our at 3pm. Bayswater just seemed a bit 'dispersed' to me. So what is DH wanting to do regarding the career change?

My wedding anniversary today. 7 years-alot has changed. I'm drinking Jacksons Estate though which I chose for my wedding. Didn't imagine I'd be sitting here in my damp wet shed 7 years on. We had to laugh today as we hadn't been paid (until tonight) and we got down to $15 in the account and DH couldn't afford a card for me and his money on his bus card had run out. I also didn't imagine that 7 years on we'd have 4 kids and $15!

lollystix · 30/07/2012 09:48

So I went for the run auckland thing in Te Atatu on Sunday. Seemed quite nice out there and colleague likes it out there. Is that a good area? People say they building lots in western springs? Am I right?

AngryBeaver · 30/07/2012 09:49

Bayswater Yeah, we can't afford desirable!
Up and coming might be ok,and beome desirable in a few years?
I think we are coming up to Aukland at the weekend depending on weather.
We were supposed to be coming Saturday just gone, but I got hideously drunk on friday drowning my sorrows didn't feel very well on the day,so we had to postpone.
Don't know about Beach Haven, the neighbours sound dodgy! Wink

There's Te Atatu Peninsula and Te Atatu South. The Peninsula is quite nice and also seen as quite up and coming as people get priced out of the areas just before it (Pt Chev, Westmere, etc.). We have friends who live there, nearly bought there ourselves. On the eastern side there are great views of the city. I don't really know Te Atata South, think it's ok. Of course they are both West Auckland which puts some people off instantly Wink. Western Springs is a different area, around the zoo/MOTAT.

lollystix · 30/07/2012 10:04

I'm down your way AB on Friday for work. What are you planning on doing in Auckland?

WhatSheSaid · 30/07/2012 10:07

AB, are you looking for somewhere that has a ferry to the CBD? Or bus? Or not really sure?
