My 31 year old husband has been today diagnosed as terminal. His cancer which had gone in July has come back rapidly and now there is nothing they can do Sad. How do you move on from here? We had his sperm frozen to hopefully try ivf but he won't even be alive to try that.

I'm so utterly heartbroken Sad

Thinking of you and your DH this morning x. I remember the feeling of guilt wanting it to be over but no one wants a loved one to suffer like this. Take care.

ijustwantfiveminutespeace · 10/12/2017 10:33

Thoughts and prayers xx

Namethecat · 10/12/2017 10:45

I have no intention of upsetting you and this is shared with caring thoughts, but when my mum was in a hospice in her last hours a hospice nurse told us sometimes they hold on for the benefit of their loved ones. I felt we'd had our goodbyes so gently spoke a few personal words in her ear with my way of saying those words. I don't know if it had any difference but she died a few hours later. In a way it also was a comfort to me.

itssquidstella · 10/12/2017 11:04

I’ve been following your thread and just want to say you and your DH are in my thoughts. Xx

LordSugarWillSeeYouNow · 10/12/2017 11:04

Echoing what Namethecat said. Is there anyone else he would want to see?

Also I think this may have been mentioned earlier on in the thread but many people have spoken about "giving permission " to go ( so sorry if that sounds wrong, I don't know how else to phrase it )

I can't stop thinking about you all, strangers to me I know but feel such sadness for you, his family and of course your wonderful husband.

Stay strong op, you've got us here any time day or night to talk to, I would love to hear about your dh and the happier times when and if you're willing to share that in the future. Remember all of the amazing times. He is so so loved.

No words, just thoughts

Iloveantiques · 10/12/2017 11:31

You are all in my thoughts today Niffler.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 10/12/2017 11:32

We've told him he can go a few times. I think the death rattle is starting now. I don't think there is anyone he would want to see. He was a very private person and only had a couple of friends. One is in America at the minute but I've passed messages on for him.

So sorry niffler just read the whole thread. You're being amazingly strong x

ClondawWarrior · 10/12/2017 11:45

You are amazing @Nifflerbowtruckle, this is the hardest time. I know it's the waiting that hurts the most. I lost my mum in August and I remember this time, your ready for them to go and be free even though you are hurting your love for them overpowers it if that makes sense.
I'm sending more love, peace and strength x

Nurses have been and changed his syringe driver. They gave him a little wash and freshened him up. He seemed to enjoy it. He even opened his eyes when they washed his face which he hasn't done all night. His breathing is more laboured now and he has some gasping episodes. He doesn't seem drastically worse at the minute though.
