ooh no - it's making me think too much now - kind of wish I hadn't discovered this little section. Don't like the 'separatist' element of xxxx parenting, whatever that might be (why did no-one consult me on this?! ).

sigh. something else to worry about.

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:34

See - look - it's happening already... I'm all alone in separatist section!! It's wrong, wrong, wrong.

morningpaper · 31/01/2007 21:45

hmm I see what you mean

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:47

Aaarrgghh - get me out of here!!

motherinferior · 31/01/2007 21:47

But there are quite a few lesbian parents on MN! Hester? Moonpie? Weaselmum?

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:49

Yes, I know. It's just got me all grumpy 'cos I hate separation - divide and rule - I'm all for lots of mingling and inclusivity!

OK, will stop taking it personally and come back and play now..!

sauce · 31/01/2007 21:50

Cool! Glad you're out, as it were.

marthamoo · 31/01/2007 21:51

Hey Dot, fret not - at least people know what this topic is for, unlike the sandwich topic which I assumed was for sandwiches. Egg mayo is my favourite.

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:54

Move along, nothing to see...

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 31/01/2007 21:56

shall we set up a "gay bigmofo's" thread specially for you, dotty?

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 31/01/2007 21:57

what is the sandwich topic for - confused me no end. (not difficult these days)

harpsichordcarrier · 31/01/2007 21:57

look at all you tourists!
oh hold on

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:58

No, no - stop it!!!!! I'm already feeling guilty for avoiding BigMoFos at the moment (I'm eating too much to find time to post!), don't double the guilt and make me stroppy at the same time!

marthamoo · 31/01/2007 21:58

I think it's something to do with caring for children and elderly/infirm parents - so you are the filling in the sandwich. But that could be totally wrong - I'm only guessing.

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:59

Hi Harpsi! Hey, actually this is quite good 'cos I get to say hello to lots of people I normally just lurk at. Kind of like my own private chat room at the minute. With the exception of Wooosh - hello!!

marthamoo · 31/01/2007 22:00

Whereas gay parents is clearly for people who are very happy and jolly about being parents - and tap dance everywhere while singing uplifting ditties. Much easier to understand than Sandwich Generation.

homemama · 31/01/2007 22:00

I actualy think it's a shame to have/need this section. I'm not gay myself so maybe I'm being naive but I'm not sure why gay parents wouldn't post all their worries, anxieties and joys in the same sections the rest of us post in.

Gay parents; feel free to tell me how I'm lacking in understanding and how this is much needed but to me it just smacks of separatism which I for one think sets us back 20yrs! All that valiant hard work to be accepted as able and loving parents surely should inevitably lead to a 'no distinction needed' state. No?

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 22:00

Yes, the sandwich generation are those usually in their 30's/40's/50's who may be caring for young children and elderly relatives at the same time. Never heard of it myself until this morning. Not that I then looked it up during work hours, oh no...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/01/2007 22:01

you lurk at people?

Wassat like then?

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 22:02

homemama - as you can see from my paranoid/grumpy posts, I feel exactly the same way at the moment.

I feel I've been fully integrated into MN society for many a long year - don't want to feel like I have to/need to/want to post gay stuff in a separate 'gay place'..!

But it's possible that I don't represent the views and feelings of all gay parents I suppose...

kittylette · 31/01/2007 22:02

i dont see the problem, theres a single parents section, surely thats just the same?

parent just like all of us, but sometimes theres issues you need to discuss with people in the same situaion,

if i ever get bored of my DF and find myself a lovely lady friend ill post here

homemama · 31/01/2007 22:02

Oh God, my post seems too serious for this thread now. I'll bugger off with my middle class liberal bollocks!

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 22:03

VVV - I wasn't sure of the correct way to use 'lurk' as a verb!! I lurk a lot - but you're right, probably not at people. (tee hee - here's someone else I'm speaking to I normally lurk at..!).
